The owners/operators are very nice and hospitable. They’re around when you need them and are super helpful. The motel is old school, but floors have been upgraded to wood from carpet. This motel gets the job done if you need a place to crash! I would stay here again.

An older motel off the main road in Big Pine, probably one of two places you could stay in the small town.395 was closed and we couldn't make it to our destination, all of Bishop had no vacancy and we had no other choice but to backtrack to Big Pine.We chose correctly though! Although the rooms are dated and the walls are made of it's original cinder block, this motel was very clean and quiet as advertised. A cute little family runs this place. The woman on the phone was so kind when we called ahead to reserve the rooms for the night. The older gentleman gave us snacks, showed us to our room and oriented us to the heater as we had a very late arrival. He even made some jokes. He was very endearing. The beds are updated and the sheets are clean. They have some toiletries available to you in the bathroom (toothbrush, soap, cups). The heater works SUPER well! The refrigerator was clean and worked well. Extra blankets readily available in a walk in closet space with luggage stands.I would recommend this place and I would stay here again.Rooms: Clean and quiet. new beds and clean sheets.

Pretty old motel, but the owner is great and the room has everything you need. Very quiet even though the highway is nearby.

I'm really sorry about this 2 star review... because the owner of the motel is super nice and accommodating. Our room, however, was very old (except for the bed). There was a large water stain with mold in the walk-in closet - apparently a burst pipe.I was glad that we only booked one night. Maybe another room would have convinced me more.

I am going to start with what I liked about our stay here:The owner is an absolute sweetheart, super friendly and nice. Our room was equipped with a brand new, comfortable bed. The sheets and towels were spotless and overall the room seemed clean.BUTThe room was super dated to the point that we could not really get comfortable other than on the bed. Everything seemed dirty even though it likely wasn't.There was a huge wet spot in the walk-in closet. The fridge started leaking in the night. There was no wallpaper, just painted brick. Overall, the room seemed just sketchy. I am very sorry for not being able to give a better review as the owner really seemed to try his best to make this place as comfortable as possible.Walkability: There is not much to do in Big Pine. When we stayed there, only one restaurant was open and we got our coffee in the morning at the gas station.

We booked last minute, same day, on a recent road trip. The owner was incredibly friendly and accommodating. It's an older hotel, right on 395. But surprisingly quiet, and a very new bed that was very comfortable. We were very happy with our night at the Starlight.

I'm a little torn, the owner is very friendly but the rooms are way too expensive for the price, I think $80 to $100 would be justified.Ok, there was a heater but given the size and the wall, it could have been a garage with a bathroom. So I've already booked better and cheaper rooms in CaliforniaI'm sorry

Poorly maintained with small bathrooms. Pet fees are too high for what you're getting.

Phenomenal customer service from the owner PJ. He is very personable and accommodating and an outstanding gentlemen. His customer service alone made the stay 10/10. Clean and cozy rooms. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

I love these small, mom & pop, motels. They're usually quiet and cozy, and the Starlight is that and more. Let's start with the easy parking right in front of your room, that's a plus. The room has everything you could want, A/C, nice flatscreen TV, microwave, refrigerator, extra blankets, bathroom amenities including toothbrushes, comfy bed, and walls that are soundproof. I will be back.

Accommodations were adequate for our short stay. The new owner was friendly and knowledgeable about good food in the area. The HVAC unit was a little fickle and we found ourselves either too hot or too cold in the middle of the night.
