Hawthorne Gallery, established in 1995 on the Big Sur coastline, is a beautiful and peaceful place to experience art. Designed by the famous architect Mickey Meunnig, the gallery features works from over 20 talented artists, including the Hawthorne family. Visitors can see a diverse range of art, from Albert Paley’s forged steel designs and Gregory Hawthorne’s contemporary paintings to the woodcarvings of Barbara Spring. The gallery’s building is as "California" as it gets, with wood and glass walls that let the outdoors in and offer stunning views of the Pacific coastline. The Hawthorne family, who started the gallery, is deeply passionate about their art and visitors. It is a family-run place where love and creativity shine through every piece. Guests often remark on the friendly staff, who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the artworks. The gallery also offers unique jewelry, sculptures, metalwork, and even furniture, making it worth a special drive. The upstairs area features sections of glass floor and beautiful views of the Pacific. Overall, Hawthorne Gallery is an iconic Big Sur institution that touches all senses, providing a memorable experience filled with beautiful art and warm hospitality.
