I don't know about their service but their advertising LED light is too bright! The constant flashing and bright colors makes it hard to fall back asleep. The time is 4am.

Well was stranded last night in bishop. Ac compressor clutch took a dump on me and was grinding metal down. Stuck 260 miles from home I called A&L the next morning after 2 other shops told me they were 2 weeks out and couldn't help. The nice lady who answered told me to come in maybe they could look at it. The owner had 1 of his mech take a look. Fortunately the ac compressor has its own belt and he told me I could cut belt to compressor and the car would run fine. He went back into shop and got cutters and removed it. Had me start car to make sure that was the only thing and it ran well. He got me on my way home. A tow home would have cost me over $1500. Replacing clutch would have taken days to get parts to bishop. Thank you A&L. I am so grateful for your assistance . Next time I come through bishop I'm gonna drop of breakfast for the crew. See ya for fall fishing.

My friends 2002 Toyota Sienna was running very poorly with misfires and a lack of power. The diagnosis from the owner of A&L was that it needed new coils and spark plugs on all six cylinders. The price of this service was $1600. The Toyota owner was desperate as she has limited resources but needed the van as she was traveling in it and needed it to stay in it. The repair was done but it fixed absolutely nothing. The owner told her the motor was beyond repair and she would need to immediately remove it from the premises leaving her stranded. I asked her to try to get it scanned at the nearby auto parts store. She limped it over and got it scanned and then provided me the codes. Within 30 minutes online I found the very likely issue, so I traveled to Bishop CA. where she was. A $69 part and a 30 minute install (I'm not a mechanic) and the van started right up and the issue was gone. Unfortunately the owner at A&L Tire and Automotive failed to diagnose the actual problem and wasted my friend's $1600 and treated her very poorly, showing a lack of diagnostic skills and even worse customer service skills, taking advantage of a desperate woman in desperate conditions.

Avoid this place. We came in to get our muffler welded after part of it broke. As Canadians traveling with little funds, we were hopeful it wouldn’t be too much, especially since our Canadian dollar is so poor. The mechanic (John) told us we needed a whole new muffler. When we asked him if he could weld the part that broke so we could just get back to Canada then get it fixed, he walked away, and told his son (who was great) to just weld it. We didn’t even get to make a final decision, he made it for us. It was so unprofessional. We want a mechanic to work with us…and it’s as if he’s never learned how. Even if we do end up needing a new muffler, I’m glad we didn’t get the work done there. Every other staff member tried to make up for his behaviour at the end of our visit. It was so sad.I’m not sure if he was just having a bad day, but based on the reviews below, it seems like typical behaviour from him. I hope your day (or life) gets better John.

My son had his car towed there, and the man who helped them was nasty and refused to give them service. They ended up going to Bishop automotive and had a wonderful experience.

I can't say enough positive things about the people at A&L. I've never heard of a business going so far beyond what is asked or expected. In our case that even included picking someone up and driving them to the airport! There was no business need to do that, they just wanted to help a person in need. I would highly recommend A&L to anyone in the Bishop area.

Needed an oil change last minute. I called at 4:10 asking if they could do an oil change for me, but it’d take me 20 minutes to get there and they close at 5. Very friendly and accommodating, they didn’t have the filter for my car but they managed to get it from elsewhere immediately. Great service! Even gave my dog some treats.

We were on the road when the "change engine oil soon" notification light came on. We detoured to Bishop and found A&L. They worked us in and we were back on the road in an hour. Thanks A&L!

Nice family owned shop, got me in the next day for a broken rear SUV shock. Replaced both. Informative, recommend, fast turnaround, up front.Only downside is the price was too high @ $700 /3hrs (?) + 2 rear strut assembly. I was overcharged by one hour for sure. Job wasn't hard they said in the end. I guess you pay a premium for fast turn around, being a female, a traveller on the road, who knows. The assumption that people on the road are loaded with cash is really not correct or helpful.I am Canadian, so it cost me over $900 for a rear shock job. Still recommend them but maybe ask for shop book rates before paying.
