“20/5 STARS — Silver City Ghost Town is an absolute hidden gem!

What an incredible place. Silver City Ghost Town feels like walking straight through a doorway into California’s old mining days. The weathered wooden buildings, old jail, mining artifacts, antique furniture, and little details everywhere give the place an atmosphere you just can’t recreate at a modern attraction.

I especially loved that the buildings actually show their age. Nothing feels overly polished or artificial—you can see the worn wood, old windows, tools, furnishings, and structures that have survived all these years. Knowing that some of these historic buildings were relocated and preserved makes exploring them even more fascinating.

The surrounding mountains and dry landscape make the whole experience even better. Standing among these old buildings with the hills behind them, you can almost imagine what life must have felt like during the mining era.

And of course, I had to do some time behind bars in the old jail. ? Definitely one of my favorite photo opportunities!

If you love California history, ghost towns, mining history, old architecture, photography, or simply finding unusual places with character, Silver City Ghost Town in Bodfish is absolutely worth visiting.
