We were told to be cautious of eating here by a server at the place we tried to eat at across the way, but we risked it and we did not get sick in any shape or form. It's one of the cheaper places to eat at in this town. This combination plate was such a steal. My partner got just the burrito and they were very jealous of my combo plate because we essentially got the same size burrito but i also got the enchilada with beans and rice (he paid basically the same price for less). I did not finish the combination plate and ended eating the burrito the next day. Note: i did not eat the beans because i was worried about getting sick.

Large menu of tacos, burritos, and other items. I had beef tacos and thought that they lacked any zest. Simply tasted like slow cooked beef without any seasonings. Portions are quite large, and please note that the business only accepts cash.

I love los Jilbertos,their chipoltle salsa is off the hook! I have never had any food from here I didn't like! Cash only FYI!They also have ice cream .

Had excellent food here! Had the machaca platter which came with rice, beans and 4 corn tortillas. Your choice of either corn or flour. They have a small salsa bar with pico de gallo, red sauce, green sauce and pickled carrots. The price was reasonable and the food plentiful! Everything was delicious! I can see why there was a line waiting to order. Food came out fast and hot. Definitely one of the top Mexican food places I've eaten! They are cash only

Went to Borrego Springs for the star gazing and popped into this little restaurant for something quick to eat. Little did I know, I would fall in love here... it wasn't love at first sight. But it did happen pretty quickly. The moment I held that carne asada burrito in my hand I knew it was something special. Coming from Orange County, my expectations were low (burritos are often overpriced, small and disappointing, to say the least). But this... this was different. First off, the size of it was something to behold. I'd compare it to my forearm. Ok, maybe not that big, but... close. Then, my first bite. Delicious... and even more exciting: it was pretty much all meat. Tasty carne asada. All the way through. Their salsas are also delicious... I would highly recommend their pico de gallo, and their red salsa. The pico isn't super wet - which is great because it doesn't break down your burrito. I wish this place existed closer to home... but it's not. Come here, support their business, and enjoy a delicious meal. My only con would be... and this is being picky, the tables outside were a little dirty. But I don't even know if they belong to the restaurant. And so, I'm going to give them 5 stars. That burrito has stolen my (hungry) heart.

Tables are spotless, kitchen is clean and efficient, salsa bar and hot carrots are outstanding. And the FOOD?!!!! Don't even question any of the items. All amazing and massive for the heartiest of souls that come off the hiking trail or bike ride. Great family owned place that's legendary. I hope this gem Never leaves Borrego.

I had the carnitas plate, and you might think it’s a bit overpriced at ~$17, but they give you so much meat and food. And the food itself is like transcendental.
