The worst store in the entire area. Run by teenagers with zero experience

I had a frustrating experience at this store that ended up costing me $100. I bought a jacket that scanned at $198—full price, consistent with what it’s listed for online. But the physical tag said $298, likely due to a manufacturing or tagging error. Since the store was new, I figured it could’ve just been a mix-up.
However, instead of honoring the scanned price, the sales associate manually changed it to $298. When I asked why, he told me it had scanned as a different item entirely, and said if it had scanned correctly, he would’ve honored the $198 price. But I could see on the checkout iPad that it did scan as the correct item—same name, same photo, same price. That made the explanation feel dishonest.
To be sure, I called the store manager the next day, and she confirmed that the barcodes do scan correctly and that the correct price is indeed $198. She believed it was just an honest mistake, but that doesn’t add up. The associate and I had a whole conversation about the item he claimed it scanned as—a different piece that costs $168 and looks nothing like the jacket I bought. This wasn’t a simple mix-up—it was a misleading explanation used to overcharge me.
To the manager’s credit, she was professional and seems genuinely invested in protecting her team, which is rare in retail. But unfortunately, in this case, it came at the cost of transparency.
I wouldn’t shop here again unless you’re prepared to cross-check every price online.

I’ve had the best experience multiple times here! From picking outfits a couple years ago with the help of their amazing manager (he’s really the best) to making returns and get things shipped to home. Thank you FP Brea!!!

My 6’ volleyball player daughter went to Free People in the Brea mall a few weeks ago. I had given her carte blanche to spend whatever she wanted. When she returned she said the young women working there were so judgy, she didn’t buy anything and said she would never go back. SHAME on those ladies!! Women need to uplift other young women . I’m sure your lack of sales represent your customer service or lack there of. Even worse the Store, District , and Regional leadership who allow this behavior to continue. Parents support your young women and shop where they are treated with respect. Not at this location !!

If I could rate this location 0 stars, I would. I felt very judged by the 3 girls working at the store. They were looking me up and down which made me really uncomfortable. I also thanked them for allowing me to try on the clothes and they completely ignored me and just stared at me.Nobody should ever feel like this as a customer. I really wanted to purchase something from this store but didn’t feel comfortable trying any more clothes on after the initial experience. Super saddened by how these ladies treat other people especially as they are in the customer service business. Do better!!

I had such a pleasant experience this morning. I wish I had asked the associate for her name to give her credit. I was having a bad day and decided to go walk around the mall. I walked in to check out the store because I had never been and was excited to see a FP store in the brea mall. The associate was so nice and welcoming. She was so easy to talk to and I ended up buying an outfit. Thanks to her help with talking about sizing and picking out colors, I am so excited about my purchase and I am looking forward to going back. I had to write a review because the wonderful experience totally turned around my day.

While trying to find the nearest Free People store to the I.E., Google directed me to the Brea Mall. I was on the hunt for an item at Free People. I walked through the mall and FP Movement was towards the back next to another athletic clothing store. I was surprised at first that it as only FP Movement and no Free People. I was use to going to Free People stores where they have both options of clothing. The staff was welcoming and ready to assist in providing feedback and alternatives options of clothing. Although, it doesn't have a full collection of Free People in store, its nice to see all the FP movement clothing in one place.

I have recently developed an obsession with free people, so I was extremely excited to hear that their movement store was opening in the mall. I have been in there three or four times in the past two months (making purchases every time), and I am always treated kindly when I walk in. The employees are ALL extremely nice and helpful- I have had wonderful conversations with all of them, and they genuinely care about what I have to say. Amazing customer service, and it's a stark contrast to other free people stores. Love love love this place and their team.

Free people movement is at the brea mall. Super excited! Saves me a trip, do not need to drive all the way to south coast plaza for my online free people's returns.
