Dont go to Kim Cox i had such high hopes going to her because of her instagram page but i went in there with bleach blonde hair and root grow out trying to get a balayage done and ended up with my worst nightmare. It started out with me showing her multiple photos of what i wanted and she said she could do it then i told her i was nervous about the big change. When i got back from the bowl to blow dry my hair it was completely bleach blonde with no brown in it just my root was melted into it a little i told her i wanted a brown and blonde balayage not root fix and she said that she did not give me what i wanted because i was nervous. Why didn't she tell me she was gonna do that? So anyways i told her to fix it like the pictires and she just died the whole head black brown with highlights of blonde underneath not on top? it looks like tiger stripes and one big thick blonde stripe down the front money piece. Then it came out splotchy in a few places multiple times and had to redo like 4 times the brown parts because she did not paint it on completely and thoroughly. It took over 5 hours. When she finished and blow dried it i wanted to cry because it was so bad and nothing like i asked for and she said i have to wait like 6 months to a year before i can fix it because i cant bleach over bleached hair to get what i asked for. She told me to buy cheap target shampoo to fade it. Im so upset and hopeless. To top it off she quoted me $265 when i booked and at the end of the night she asked for almost $400 because she said she had to charge me for 2 services because she had to fix what she didn't do in the first place even though it was her fault for not doing what i asked in the first place. Her response was thats the way she does business. She is very sweet and nice to talk to but my hair is screwed up. Also, the haircut was uneven and all different lengths. I will attach photos of what i asked for vs what i got.

The gal Ava that did my hair was incredibly nice and I have nothing against her she did an ok job however when I go to a nice salon and spend good money on my hair which I rarely ever do I expect a little more. From now on I will be going to somebody that is over the age of 30 instead of somebody that is in their early to mid 20s. I just feel like she didn't have enough experience to be working in such an expensive salon. Then I stupidly made a rash decision to get side bangs again and they did not turn out at all how I was expecting. I used to cut my own side bangs and I feel like I could have done a better job. However what really bothers me is when I called ahead I told them I just wanted a haircut and they said a haircut would cost I'm sorry I cannot remember but it was either $35 or $45 and then they asked me if I would also like my hair blow dried. In my opinion this is a really d*** question because this is an expensive nice hair salon and when you get your haircut it's assumed that blow drying comes with the hair cut. A professional establishment would never send you away with wet hair unless you specifically requested it. In the end the total for just a haircut ended up being $80. So I have to spend way more money than I was planning on going in and of course I always tip very well so a 35 to $45 haircut ended up costing $80 and then a $10 tip for a very simple haircut that took about a half an hour in my opinion is pretty steep. I have gotten my haircut before at Supercuts please don't judge I was very broke at the time LOL and they did just as good a job if not a better job for $35 even and they actually blow dried my hair for free like most salons do. I guess I am so frustrated over this because they did not tell me they did not even indicate that blow drying would cost any extra money especially $45 which is the priciest blow drying I would have never paid for if I knew they were charging me for it. And after I spoke to the lad is the price that they quoted me over the phone. I just do not understand how $35 went up to $80 when I only went in and got a fast and simple haircut. This is the price the painted nest studio told me it would cost for a haircut when I asked them how much it would costs for just a haircut which I assumed came with your hair being blown dry. I didn't ask for it to be styled or anything like that I just didn't want to leave with wet hair and everywhere else I have been blow drying is included and if it is not they will tell you up front the price. After I told them I would like my hair blow-dried they still quoted me at $35 to $45 for the haircut and I don't know if it was stupidity or manipulation but when I went to pay they said the total was $80. I was blown away and said no I only got my haircut which I called and was priced at $45 it was only after I said this that they mentioned that it also cost $45 to blow dry your hair. I don't know how these salons get away with telling you certain prices and then jacking them up to double what they told you over the phone. I didn't get any highlights or color done and it is standard procedure at salons for them to first wash your hair, second cut your hair and third blow dry your hair that is what comes with a haircut. So when you ask how much is a haircut at your salon they need to be much more specific. I'm assuming they charged me for the wash and the blow dry but when you get your haircut that is an expected and normal thing they do with every cut without charging extra and I mean a lot extra in this case. So obviously the receptionist is really bad at her job or is trying to manipulate customers into spending more money. I just wouldn't have expected to pay $80 unless I got my hair colored or got highlights or something like that. At a very pricey and prestigious hair salon in downtown Fullerton I spent $115 getting my hair cut, colored, washed and blown dry. So I find it very strange that for only an extra $35 ) (Sorry I suck at math but I believe my equation is correct) I could ha

I was in dire need of getting my roots redone as they were growing out and looking quite ugly right before I had a wedding to attend as one of the maid of honors. Life got busy, and I ended up procrastinating on researching and booking an appointment. My usual hair stylist/colorist who had colored my hair and done my previous root job was unfortunately out on a maternity leave (not from Painted Nest). My sister freaked out over my hair more than I did, and she quickly found an availability here and booked me a last minute appointment last Friday. I really wanted to like this place. I walked in with hopes that I would get lucky with the right stylist. If so, this would be my go-to hair salon as it's located only 1.5 miles away from me. I met with my stylist who was extremely sweet and friendly. I feel really bad having to leave this negative review due to her amiable personality, but I feel that the service that I received is a bit unforgivable. After taking a look at my hair, she stated that my hair color was actually darker than what was consulted over the phone. My sister had told her my hair color was dark brown, but the stylist said it was considered a lighter chocolate brown and that she is unsure if she has the right colors to redo my roots. She said she will go check and be right back. Fair enough. Then she called over another stylist to ask for her opinion. After discussing what colors to mix, she stated that it was doable. Feeling a bit uncertain, I asked her once again if she would be able to match the root colors to my hair, which she confirmed that she can. She also offered toning for my hair to even out the rest of the hair color. When she was coloring my roots, I noticed that she was a bit heavy-handed with the brush around my forehead and the back of my neck. It literally felt like my neck was being painted intently as if it was a piece of canvas. Although I felt a little puzzled by this, I decided not to question her since she was the professional and I figured (or hoped) she knew what she was doing. After letting the dye sit for 30 minutes, she took me over to the sink to wash my hair and start the toning treatment. I appreciated her attentive care during this process and the soothing scalp massage that she provided, hence the 1 star. After 10 minutes, I went back to my seat where she blow-dried my hair. At this time, it was a bit difficult for me to see the true color of my roots since my hair was still slightly wet. However, the stylist said she was liking how my roots turned out. Being the noob that I am (and also being in a rush to get home due to other plans), I put my trust in her words and quickly left. I got home and my sister asked for a picture. She was shocked to see that they looked almost identical to when I first walked into the salon. Another shocking moment was seeing how the hair dye stain was left on my forehead and the back of my neck. My MIL saw me and she said if this was to happen at a salon in Korea, hell would break loose. My previous hairstylist was shocked that these stains weren't wiped down before sending me home. (BTW, I also got black stains on my q-tips after showering the next day). Feeling disappointed, I sent both the picture of my roots and the stains over to the stylist. She said it was 3 shades down from when I first walked in and that if I wanted to go any lighter to match the rest of my hair, I would have to bleach it. She also said "the stains are temporary." I understand my roots may be slightly lighter than when I first came in, but my hair color isn't even. There are clearly two different tones in them to the point people asked me if I actually got it done. I'm also aware that the stains are temporary, but I've never had to go home from a salon with stains around my neck and forehead like this. I usually do when I do box dye at home..but even then, my neck has never been painted like that. Anyways, I replied back telling her that I'm confused because my previous hair stylist never had to bleach my hair to achieve that colo

Cynthia worked her magic on my hair! I had previously gotten my hair done elsewere and was ok with the results but she blew me away. She asked me all the right questions that I've never been asked before and the end result was amazing. I literally said "I didn't know my hair could look like this!" I will continue to willingly drive the 25 miles to come let her do her magic.

This review is LOOOONG overdue and very much well deserved. At the time I started my hair journey, I had long, thick, box dyed dark black/brown hair and my goal was to go blonde. Kelsee has been my go to girl for a few years now and I will NEVER let anyone else touch my hair. I've been to other salons in the past and I've learned my lesson, no one compares to her AMAZING work. Kelsee does a stellar job and she has gotten me to my goal while keeping my hair healthy. I cannot rave enough about her and her amazing talent. If you are looking for a professional to do your hair I 100% recommend her. I am truly thankful that I found her and my hair has never looked better all thanks to her. (IG: @Hairby_kelsee)

This was my first salon experience and I have to say it was amazing!! I made my appointment with Cynthia Gonzalez (@cynthebeautician) and I am so happy with my decision! I couldn't be happier with the results, she truly transformed my hair! I feel like a new person! I found her after doing my research on YELP and Instagram. Honestly, there are so many wonderful hair stylist at the Painted Nest but something about her work really drew me in. I had been wanting to do a Balayage for so long and finally decided to do it before my birthday. From the booking process to the actual day of my appointment the whole process was smooth and easy. I liked that she gave instructions on her social media page, actual photos of her work, and estimated pricing. It made it much easier to make my decision. When I sent her what I wanted along with pictures of my hair she gave me honest feedback, which I appreciated since my hair was going from black to blonde/brunette highlights. On the day of my appointment I got to know her so well that the time went by and before I knew it she was done! She was friendly, attentive, and made me feel comfortable with all of my questions. She even recommended a few products for my hair concerns. Cynthia is a true professional in her work and I am definitely a customer for life!

Followed a stylist to see her work and was extremely impressed. Took a chance for me and my friend. We were told to show inspiration photos. I described EXACTLY what we wanted. I previously had lightened hair and just asked to re touch up the highlights Bc they were already a golden yellow. And my roots are dark. I stayed there for 7 hours and when she finished it was lighter. While it was still darker than my liking the stylist (bri G) said she put more toner than usual and confirmed after 2-3 washes it would lighten up. I get home any fair went to the same color. She took $320 to look exactly the same. Never again.

I came to this place because I was referred by a friend to see Julian. He is literally the sweetest, most efficient, and most considerate hair stylist I have ever had. He walked me through everything he was doing to my hair so that I knew what was happening to my hair and at the end of my session, my hair was not dry or brittle at all! My hair looks awesome and the price I paid for it was so reasonable. I definitely will be coming back the next time I need my hair dyed.
