We had an amazing weekend here! The rooms are large, newly remodeled, and very comfortable. We even had a really big private balcony. The historic part of the lodge is really cool and spooky looking. The staff knew all the history of the lodge and the area, they were basically tour guides!

Really cool place. Nice modern rooms, historic property, beautiful wooded area. The staff was extremely accommodating. They were very knowledgeable about the history and were happy to share that knowledge.

I am living just down the road in Felton and have been in slv for 15 yrs. I have now stayed at Brookdale several times overnight for the dance events hosted there. I am so grateful that these events are able to happen here because this is honoring the tradition of this lodge. We are able to stay safe by booking a room at the hotel and not driving. This area has been an epicenter for healthy living and culture centering dance, recreation and music for generations. Thank you to Brookdale lodge, staff and the neighbors for facilitating space for joy and community! Thank you especially to the general manager Josh for being such a personable host and helping make this happen.

The hotel, restaurant and venue are nice. Night staff was extremely rude, mainly some scraggly long haired guy that was working reception area. Approached me and started yelling to get off property (I'd just left the store and was relaxing snacking a candybar), thought it was a homeless person at first glance. Even after I explained I'd just left the store, he was still extremely rude. Not sure if I'm gonna drop any more money at this place. Hope they get some better staff🤞.

Extremely rude nightclub in the middle of a neighborhood. This place needs to be permanently shut down so that violent outbreaks no longer happen. I say this as the literal next door neighbor who wanted some peace and quiet last night.
Why did your employee try to enter my car numerous times? I did not give him consent to enter my vehicle, so why did he attempt to open my car door? Why was another of your employees bashing on my window in which the security had to back her off? You did not consider the households around you when you made the decision to blast music which could be heard in buildings down the street at two in the morning. You did not consider hosting this party on a weekend, but a week night, when people have to wake up early in the morning for their jobs.

The staff are nice, however, the rooms are disgusting!
The carpet is sooo sticky! The bathroom floor incredibly dirty! I used a wet towel to scrub the bathroom floor and the towel turned so disgustingly black!
The tub in the shower had a weird bump in the middle that I had to stand on the edge of the tubs in order to not slip and fall. The sink was missing an aerator, so when first used it sprayed everywhere.
The mini refrigerator was so loud at night, so we had to unplug in order to get some peace and quiet. My SIL tried to use her air conditioner in her room, but a strong musty order came out of it!
I swear there must be mold within the carpets, the carpets are sooo black not because of the style of it but because of obvious years of not cleaning it. Honestly the road outside looks cleaner than the carpet in the room.
The only upside were the kind staff. We stayed the full 2 nights only because the wedding party was staying there, had I known the gravity of how dirty the hotel would have been I would have booked a different hotel.
Rooms: Carpet and floor so incredibly dirty!!!
Safety: Don’t bring your family here, way too dirty of a hotel!!!

It was pretty run-down in 1980. It had seen better days.
Walkability: Near to the San Lorenzo River. The area was quaint.

Stayed here for 4 nights for a family gathering in the area. The rooms have been redone and are nicely updated. All of the staff we encountered were wonderful and went out of their way to accommodate our needs! The location is wonderful, can't - beat being in the middle of the redwoods. The bar was fun, as well as all the locals we met that were hanging out. The only downside for some is the cell reception is very spotty, but wifi worked great. I hope they continue to fix things up and get more amenities up and running!

Such friendly staff and comfortable, clean rooms!!
Lots of attention to detail here and feels like folks actually care about your stay and having a pleasant time in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. Surrounded by state parks and wildlife in all directions, this is a gem of a hotel at reasonable rates that lots of regular folks can afford.
Rooms: Recently renovated
Safety: Not even a little concern here. Doors open to outside. Don’t recall if there are door peepholes. Property feels very safe.
