Very disappointed in what was once a great getaway Marriott. Hotel is but a shadow of its former self. Reception staff at check in was indifferent and more focused on a previous call than even acknowledging my presence. Staff at checkout wasn't interested in in hearing my concerns about the breakfast issues I though they should know about. Breakfast staff was and helpful. Unfortunately, they have eliminated the area where they once served omelets and eggs to order, replacing it with a pan of cold, coagulated, scrambled mess. French toast was equally cold and the syrup was so chilled that it wouldn't come out of dispenser. Waiter offered to replace it with Sugar Free packets. Breakfast at the Fairfields are far superior and tastier than what this Marriott offers for $20. Two stars is generous for what we experienced last weekend. Won't be back.

1. The room was not clean. Found trash both on the floor and in the trash can upon entering. Such much for having a clean room. 2. The door privacy door latch stuck and upon further inspection, it wasn't the first time as the door frame had screws on just on that side of the door frame suggesting something similar had occurred before. 3. No sense of privacy and confidentially when the front desk agent revealed our identity to other guests when our dog was barking a lot. Our dog doesn't usually bark unless people start knocking at the door and even slipping notes. So we do apologize for the barking but the dog was provoked all the more. However, it is TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL for the agent to reveal us. An official complaint will be submitted.

This Marriott experience is disappointing. It's 7:55 pm, and our room hasn't been cleaned. When we called, the staff mentioned that their cleaning persons are on lunch (at 7:55pm) and won't be back for another 30 minutes. She sounded rude and not apologetic at all, and with a tired 2-year-old, we now have to wait for the cleaning and then leave the room until it's finished. Worst service ever here! Also when we checked in, the heater was broken. They came in to fix it the next day. We had a pretty cold first night.

Checked in around 8pm, 11/25 for one night, and noticed a few ants in the bathroom. But there was no food or leftovers anywhere from previous guest. Didn't think anything of it as we left for dinner. Came back and saw some ants were still there in the bathroom before we slept but not enough to make a fuss. The next morning I woke up with ants all over my body, and bed, and bathroom all over and my toothbrushes. Also, there was no shampoo in the shower. Just 2 conditioners. I promptly reported the ants and the missing shampoo, and the front desk messaged me and said maintenance was coming to take care of the ants, and shampoo was on the way. After about 3 hours of waiting, I gave up and left. On my way out, I told the front desk that I wanted a full refund. They offered me free breakfast, but politely declined. I just wanted out of there since they were no help. They also said they would contact me, but as of this writing of this review, 11/29, they have not. I've been a Marriot Bonvoy member for decades now and write good and bad reviews. I'll continue to be a member but wouldn't stay because quality control and service is below the usual Marriot Bonvoy standard. The property looks aged, but the room seemed renovated.

Terrible management at this Hotel. If you fancy being ignored, terrible food and overall bad guest experience then I guess this is the place for you. GM (Josh I believe) couldn't be bothered to field comments and concerns. There are much, much better options in the area.

This place is a convenient stay. My parents and I had the King suite, which was very spacious and comfortable for three adults. The king bed was in a separate space that had a sliding wooden door (as opposed to the glass one pictured) and that space also had its own closet and TV. In the common area, there was an additional closet, TV, a desk and chair and the sofa bed. The bathroom was spacious with two sinks, a counter top mirror and a full length mirror, with a spacious shower as well. There is also daily housekeeping, which many other hotels seemed to abandon after COVID. This hotel also offers a bar/lounge area that is quite lively at night. They offer a full bar and a menu with some food options for different tastes. The upstairs room hallway is an open, which allows you to see down into the lounge. That may account for other reviewers saying they smelled food in the hallway. I will say that the smell did not carry into our room. There is an expansive outdoor patio with chairs and sofas, fire pits and games (cornhole, chess, connect four). And on Fridays they host wine samples and charcuterie from 4-6. The area is close to eateries and a very short drive to Solvang and multiple tasting rooms. However, many aspects of the hotel need a lot of TLC. The grounds are not well maintained at all. Walls and the grounds are dirty and unkempt. The landscaping is neglected. Glass doors are not regularly cleaned. Even in the rooms themselves, the sliding glass doors are smudged. There was a broken light in our room. The sofa bed mattress was a thin box spring that creaked and offered minimal comfort. While a very convenient location , there is also lots to improve.

The general hotel experience was superior in almost every way. The room, the staff were very good. HOWEVER, I was appalled that there was no free unsecured wifi, then I morning coffee, no matter how poor, was not free. Fortunately, neither of these were a problem, just a disappointment to an otherwise very good stay.

Worst hotel ever. Right next to freeway. Sit by pool and listen to trucks and cars. Horrible pool Furniture. Crappy bar. They made a margarita and added seltzer to top it off!! Dirty laundry left outside our room on the floor. I had to kick it across the hall to get staff to pick it up. Shitty room furniture. No dresser for clothes. They allow people to bring music to the pool so you listen to everyone's music blasting. Corporate hallways. Then they have the nerve to charge an EXTRA $75 if you want to check in before 4:00 pm!! And WiFi is $10.00 a day extra. GO ELSEWHERE. Place looks dirty and run down. It needs a complete renovation

WORST MARRIOTT EVER. Rooms were dirty: 1. First room wasn't cleaned when we arrived. Large clump of tangled hair in shower drain, crumbs on floor, dead bugs in large light fixture, potato chip crumbs in bed. 2. Second room was better but still dirty. Crumbs on floor, dried booger stuck on sink. Dilapidated: This Marriott needs some TLC. Peeling wallpaper, mold behind exposed wallpaper by ice machine, microwave in lobby not working, AC was not working when we arrived, tv throughout entire Marriott was out our last night. Front desk lady gives you attitude, no 'thank you's', not even a smile. Restaurant staff were super friendly and provided great customer service. Andres was super kind. Young black man who worked as room cleaner was super kind and went above and beyond. The cleaning person for our room never showed up and we walked into our uncleaned room after the first day of exploring. He happened to be across the hall cleaning another room. I assumed it was him and asked if we were next and he said our room wasn't on his list, but to give him a few minutes and he would clean it. He, along with another lady who happened to be vacuuming the hall both cleaned our room, though it wasn't their responsibility. The 2 experiences mentioned above were the only positive things about our stay here. STAY AWAY. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Very disappointed and would not recommend this venue!! We were celebrating a special event for my parents. Meals were to be served at 6:15 BUT were 45 minutes late. When we received our meals the gnocchi was not even cooked and looked like mush. It was not edible! It would have been better if left off the plate and only served salmon and asparagus. The chicken piccata did not taste right either. Needless to say it was an embarrassment to our guests. I would not recommend this venue.

We were celebrating my parents 70th wedding anniversary with almost 100 guests. So excited for this event and unfortunately we had one of the worst meals I have ever had at a large event/function. We got the salmon and gnocchi with asparagus. The gnocchi was completely raw, it was the most disgusting thing ever. The chicken piccata was lemon flavored chicken with basic noodles and no flavoring, no butter, no capers. Those were also left on the plate and were not eaten. The meal we had when the food was sampled before the event was good, but this meal was unbelievably disappointing not only for our immediate family but all our guests. Dinner rolls were hard with no flavor. Audio equipment did not work for the majority of our event. From the time we received our salad to the time we received dinner was 45 minutes. one of our guests went into the kitchen to find out why such long delays. Unacceptable, especially when you have hungry children and seniors waiting for food. I would not recommend hosting an event at the Marriott.

After complaining about the lack of customer service and receiving an email apology from Marriott, I had to call the hotel to find out why eleven days after checking out, there is still a pending charge for "incidentals" for $69.90?? My reply: Just to let you know, I called the hotel again this morning to ask why there is still a pending charge to my credit card. The same woman answered the phone. She said the $69.90 charge was an incidentals charge and might take 4 weeks to go away. I told her I've never heard of such a thing 11 days after we checked out! She knew who I was and placed me on a long hold to look up my account. So I called back, and she said, "Mrs Bacon?" Then she asked if my room number was 435. I'm supposed to remember my room number? So I asked to speak to a manager. She said there was no manager on duty... only the Food & Beverages manager. Seriously, no manager at a huge hotel? She said there was no Front Desk Manager. I don't appreciate being treated this way. Don't think I do t know what she is doing. Apparently, Marriott doesn't care other than to pay lip service by sending an apology letter.

It has been a while since I was at this hotel, so I was interested in our return. Right off CA 101 in the town of Buellton it is only 10 minutes to Solvang and about 20 minutes out to Lompoc on the coast. Since our last stay the rooms have been renovated and our was very nice. The common areas however are tired and need upgrades as well. The restaurant is only open for breakfast (on previous visits it was breakfast and dinner). The lobby bar does serve from a small menu from a tiny open kitchen area next to the bar. Fortunately there a number of restaurants in Buellton and even more in nearby Solvang, also a lot of wineries to visit in the neighboring Santa Ynez Valley.

We have been coming to this hotel for several years for weekend vacations and as a stop over on road trips. We like this hotel the best of the various options in and around Solvang, except perhaps for Hadstead House, which has been closed for renovations for some time. Prices fluctuate, but when they have a good deal we stay here. All the prices are generally lower in and around Solvang during the off season (roughly Nov-Feb/March, except around the holidays). If u stay here then u will need to drive into Solvang, but it is not far. Just beware of the speed change on the stretch between Buelton and Solvang lined with the trees as it is a speed trap. Officers especially ticket people coming back from Solvang into Buelton as the speed drops at the end of the trees just before town. However, u r also much closer to the freeway here than if u stay in Solvang, so it is much more convenient if u go hiking or to the nearby beaches during ur stay or if u want to leave fast on a layover on ur road trip. There are many fast food places close by and the only major market (Albertsons) is also close. McDonalds is within walking distance. U probably won't want to go to these unless u r trying to save money or are in a hurry or just passing thru over night because there are many good local places for breakfast, both in Buelton abd Solvang. There are also good places for lunch and dinner too. The Marriott has greatly expanded its Tesla charging stations in the lot if u drive EV. The rooms are of good quality, mattresses are good, staff is nice, and parking is always available in the back if the premium spaces in the front are full. Once there was some sort of serious crime incident at this location with LOTS of police cars, but that ONLY only happened ONCE over several years and is to be expected occasionally in a resort/vacation town. Overall, this is a great place to stay. Watch for good prices and plan ur visit .
