The nurse was nice and easy to talk to and gave attention to my cat (Max). However the Doctor asked rapid fire questions in a way that felt interrogative and didn’t allow me time to answer them. He assumed a diagnosis even tho I hadn’t given him all of the information. No helpful and a waste of $90 bucks

We came here on the recommendation of our friend when we were looking for a new vet for our adult cat. We had previously used a large facility that while they were professional and attentive, their prices kept going up and we felt we should look for a more personal approach to our cat's care.Bastet is a cat only facility. They have two cat greeters named Oliver & Gizmo, who are amazingly sweet and make each visit a treasure. The humans aren't bad either! The techs and Dr. Sam remember who we are and who our cat is when we walk in the door, asking how she is doing and remember her past treatments without having to look us up in the system. They are very accommodating to our care needs and schedule. Every treatment plan is given an option, there are no surprise costs, everything is discussed openly with you and you can say no without fear of judgement or refusal of future treatment. Our cat had to have oral surgery which necessitated an unexpected overnight stay as the doctor wanted to be able to monitor her coming out of anesthesia. They did not charge us for the overnight (something that would be VERY expensive at our previous vet), and even allowed us to pick her up on a Sunday, when they would normally be closed. The only downside of Bastet is that we cannot take Oliver and Gizmo home with us!

Dr. Basilious and this Cat specialty hospital have been a God send! I discovered this place during an emergency with one of my babies. He is the most thorough vet I've ever had in my life. He went through my older cat's past extensive records and highlighted and explained to me that even before looking at my cat he knew he had stage 4 kidney disease and my old vet failed to ever even tell me this! It could have saved my cat's life and I realized how bad and careless vets can be.With Sam's expertise, I got one of my older cat's health on track again. He had so many problems including diabetes which required insulin shots twice a day. Sam has taken his time to work through many health issues by attacking one thing at a time, prioritizing the crucial ones first. My cat is now in remission for diabetes and it was mostly helped through diet. Dr. Basilious tries to use solutions that are most cost-effective before doing a bunch of unnecessary things and puts the cat's well-being first. I have never had someone spend so much time and effort with me and my pets. You will NOT find this anywhere else!My previous experiences with vets have been rushed, not explaining things or being thorough at all, and overmedicating and charging out the wazoo for everything under the sun by jaded, numb vets who don't seem to truly care about your pet. Sam is the complete opposite and you can tell he genuinely cares for your pet and their health and happiness comes first. I mean, for goodness sake, he specializes in cats and named his office after the Egyptian Cat Goddess! He loves cats that much! I don't understand how he doesn't have a higher rating on here! It seems like a lot of people get mad at prices but this is life and if you care for your pets, stop blaming the doctor and get pet insurance! I will never not have insurance for my pets, it could save their life or at least alleviate a lot of panic and frustration. I love Dr. Basilious and I will NEVER take my babies anywhere else- I can't even fathom what I will do when he decides to retire!!

I’ve always had a great experience with Bastet Cat Hospital. They’ve helped us care for our now 3 cats, including transitioning one into diabetic care, and another with some intense kidney stones. We always recommend them to our fellow cat parents.

If you have a cat that you love, this is where you want to take them.My girlfriend and I first found Dr. Sam Basilious when one of our senior cats was very ill. He had cancer, kidney stones, the whole nine. The cat was my girlfriend's and her regular vet was in Hollywood - he HATED riding in the car. So we found Bastet which was super close.Immediately, we were greeted by Steph who is literally an angel. She's the nicest, sweetest person. We were also greeted by the two resident cats, Oliver and Gizmo - both are complete gluttons for pets, so get ready to meet two new best friends when you go there. Then we were introduced to Dr. Sam Basiliou (we just call him Sam). He looked at our cat's previous blood panel and informed us that he had kidney failure, something the previous vet NEVER mentioned. We then got another blood panel as Sam wanted to see all of his numbers.Where we were sold is the fact that Sam breaks down EVERYTHING with you as if he was treating your child or parent. He explains everything in detail - what the number mean, his methodology for treatment, etc. Normally, it's "your cat has X, Y, and Z so give him this medication". Not with Sam. He takes a wholistic approach to your cats health and he's not interested in treating symptoms. He wants to treat the actual illness.Because of this, we were able to successfully get our other elderly cat completely off insulin! We now manage his diabetes purely with diet. It's an absolute god send! No more having to inject insulin twice a day!We ended up losing our first cat in this story because he was just too far gone. But my girlfriend and I just kept saying to ourselves "At least we found Sam and Steph and we KNOW we did everything we could".We then added a new kitty to the family and we bring him there now too.For those in their reviews who say they 'just want money", understand that Sam will not just guess what the problem is a prescribe medication. He needs all the tests to see what's really going on and like I said, he'll explain why and how every step of the way. That said, I HIGHLY recommend pet insurance.Bottom line: I recommend Bastet to EVERY cat owner I know

Cat hospital treated my cat and everything was going very well until I gave the phone number of that vet to a person who told me she was looking for a vet for her cat. I don't know what happenend but this person left a bad review. And yesterday, as I walked in to get my cat's treatment, the vet told me that if that person didn't remove her review he would sue me and he kicked me out telling his secretary he didn’t want to see me anymore. I was very shocked. My cat is very sick and needs to be cured. I think this behavior is very unprofessional and I don't recommend that cat hospital. Oh, and I forgot the price : around $10 000 to treat my cat since december. Maybe the customers deserve a little moreconsidération .

My boyfriend took my cat here after he ate an entire box of treats and vomiting for 3 days. They quoted around $1600 total for only labs and X-ray and this does not include treatment. Doctor did not even examine my kitty and said he would need surgery. We paid the $89 consultation fee and luckily we have friends who are vets and said the prices are too high. We then went to another hospital the same day and got everything done X-ray treatment and labs for $800 with exceptional service and follow up phone calls. My kitty did not need surgery and just Iv fluids and anti nausea medications. I never write reviews but I am warning people of this place because it is a scam and who knows what could have been done to my kitty. The quote is also an estimate and you can be charged more. Never coming to this place again!!

This place was an amazing place before. There is this new assistant named Stephanie who is changing that place in a money machine now. I was referred by my friend who is a very good client of this doctor, but this new horrible assistant keep stopping me seeing this doctor by asking me $89 only to see the doctor 2 mn to ask the him how much it would be to shave a pet who is very matted. This is not my pet I’m just trying to help and this woman seems to not care at all about pets. Since I was trying to explain to her that it was just a 2mn thing she just hang up on me. This is awful!! Don’t go there she is trying to change that place to a money machine. Too bad since the doctor was a good human being.

I really wanted to leave a good review for this place, as well as for Dr. Sam Basilious. Unfortunately, I will be leaving a warning for cat owners. If you don't feel like reading the details, here's the Cliff Notes version: Bastet lied about their availability and dropped us as a client without any warning, all while we were trying to get medication for my sick cat. I started bringing my senior cat here in December of 2021. Immediately, I was relieved because I thought I had found a place that really cares about my cat, that knows cats, and wants to help. After examining my cat, Dr. Basilious was thorough -- we did the tests -- I paid the money. But I ignored the red flags -- he and the vet techs talked about how other places will kill your cat. My gut thought it was weird they were bashing other vets? Fast forward to six months later -- my cat is straining to urinate. I take her to Bastet and Dr. Basilious wants to do another round of tests that would cost a lot. I was honest with him and said the tests, the prescription food, the medicine -- it is getting really expensive. Can we try something else? He said we could try prescription food and test her thyroid. He made it clear that her heart murmur had gotten worse and we needed to get her on the thyroid medicine. So, I agreed to do the thyroid test. When my cat was being aggressive during the thyroid blood drawing, Bastet asked if we could give her a "little bit of gas" for a few hundred dollars. I said "no." So, Dr. Basilious gave me a two-week supply of thyroid medication and told me to bring her back in two weeks -- and to sedate her with a tranquilizer pill first. I agreed. A few days later, my cat's symptoms got worse. I called Bastet and they suggested I take her to urgent care. So, I did -- I took her to Access in Pasadena -- she got bloodwork, an X-ray, and a shot for a UTI. The next day, I forwarded my cat's Access urgent care records to Bastet. I phoned Bastet to schedule an appointment to get my cat's thyroid tested, as Dr. Basilious and I had discussed. The receptionist was kind, scheduled the appointment, and said I could keep ordering her thyroid medication on Chewy until her appointment day. Then, two days later, I got an email from Bastet saying they don't have any appointments and to go back to Access urgent care for further testing. I didn't get a phone call from them, no explanation. Just a cold email. I called Bastet and asked why they sent me that email. They said they can no longer see my cat because she went to another vet. Then contradicted themselves by saying they don't have any appointments available for months. SO, my husband called Bastet, said he was a new client, and asked if he could bring in his "senior cat to get her thyroid checked" and they scheduled him immediately for that weekend. That same day, Chewy called me to let me know that when they tried to refill my cat's thyroid medication, Bastet said my cat was not a client of theirs. I've asked Bastet to forward me my cat's medical records and they have yet to do so. My suspicion is this, and I could be wrong: If you are not willing to hand over your credit card for every test, X-ray, sample, a few hundred bucks for a "little bit of anesthesia," etc., Bastet will find a way to "break up" with you. Good luck.

I am extremely pleased and thrilled to have Dr. Sam Basilious as our veterinary for our 2 cats. I had 3 cats. I can attest that I wish I had known Dr. Basilious earlier, because if I had, my third cat would have been alive today. I used the services of a 'national corporate' veterinary clinic in my city for over 15 years. I signed up with their 'insurance program'. We took our cats to their regular scheduled visits, multiple times a year, had their requested wellness exams, necessary x-rays, vaccinations, dental cleaning, blood, urine, fecal tests, etc. Every time, we were told their results were fine, cats were healthy, and their teeth are cleaned. We found a lump on my cats ear, the 'Corporate Vet' was still our vet at the time, we called and all they did was give us an appointment to see them in 2 weeks and to go to an emergency hospital as they did not handle emergencies. We were very worried so we looked for another Veterinary, We called Dr. Basilious, their wonderful staff called me back within 2 hours with an appointment and the attending technician, also called around the local emergency hospitals to find out who could see us, all this attention and we were not even their client. I thought my cats were healthy. To my shock and surprise .. we learned...my cat had kidney issues, tooth infections, cancer, tumors, thyroid problems. IN ALL the years and in all the wellness tests that were done, NOT a single medical irregularity was discovered. I cannot mention the National 'Corporate Vet Hospital' that was so negligent and careless due to legal issues, but I can mention that Dr. Basilious and his wonderful staff are extremely generous, they have not charged for additional medical care, he limits the number of cats he sees in a day so they can give them their completely attention. He is thorough, he explains every medical find, he has time for questions and never rushes you until he is clear you understand. Three surgeries later due to misdiagnosis and mistreatment, my cat is in recovery and healthy again. My appointment with the 'Corporate Vet' is still pending.
