I had many issues with the school, my son Anthony, got hurt many times with teatcher Stella, also school was trying to hush his transference leaving a gap when we moved from the district. And the worst is that a 2hs school shouldn't be called school. Correct?

It should probably be said that the administration of this program has completely changed in the past year and is now run by the Burbank YMCA. These are energetic and conscientious teachers and caregivers who seem up-to-date on early education issues. My 3 year-old loves going every day.

My child receives speech services here. My review is only with my interactions with the director here. She is not very friendly at all and can be quite rude! The front desk staff are great though and we love our speech therapist.

My daughters both attended Horace Mann starting at 3 years of age. Both were lucky enough to have Ms. Rosie as their first teacher. She is a treasure! Now, my youngest is with Ms. Mariet and is ready to leave for kindergarten. Ms. Marriet is an excellent teacher that really nurtures her students love of learning. The office staff is easy to talk to and they go above and beyond to assist you in whatever you need. Horace Mann provided our family with a sense of comfort and security that was unparalleled. We will truly miss taking our daughters to this school.

I love the work they are doing with my son. He has characteristics of ASD. He has a speech delay, behavior issues, and problems relating to others kids. He has improved so much in such a short amount of time. He's getting speech therapy and occupational therapy in addition to in class lessons. I'm so happy we were referred to Horace Mann! They are always welcoming and friendly!

We transferred our daughter from another daycare to Horace Mann about 3 months ago. It has been one of the best decisions we have made in her short life. She's currently in the infant room, about to transition to the 1 year old classroom in about a month. She has flourished! The teachers are incredibly kind, loving, attentive, and knowledgable. I feel secure with her there and it's obvious she feels safe as well! I planned to move her to a specialized preschool when she turns 2 but based on the care she's received so far I may keep her at Horace Mann!

Don't send your child here!!! My son got his tooth knocked out in Ms. Zoya/ ms. Ghada's class. He had just turned two and was transferred to a new class, the 2 year old class. He had been attending Horace Mann since he was 11 months. His transition was terrible they didn't welcome him in the new class or transition him smoothly at all. He was in the class for about 2 weeks, and there were signs that he wasn't comfortable, but being a new naive single mom with a new job; that didn't care for me taking off , I just didn't use my better judgement . I thought he would adapt and as told by the teachers he was "learning the way they do things". Unfortunately one day, 2 weeks after he had been attending the new classroom I got a call and I was told he hit his head, and would not let the teachers see what was wrong with him. I immediately went to the school to find my 2 year old with a missing front tooth, vomit in the back of his hair, and they had changed his clothes. The teacher told me he threw up at nap time and as they were walking over to change my son, he pulled away and hit the floor. He had no bruising to his mouth or anywhere other than the missing front tooth. She could not show me where he fell on the floor, because she said "he fell behind her". Red flag ... I know. Being that it is a natural human reaction to block ur fall when falling forward and the floor is a flat surface I found it odd that he had "fell" with enough force to knock the front tooth out his mouth. A fragment of the tooth was still in his mouth which the next day had to be pulled out by a dentist to prevent infection. I understand children especially 2 year olds get bumps and bruises, I understand things happen, but what really hurt me to my core was that when I picked up my son he was still running around in the classroom with the other kids. The teacher was in Ms. Perla's office in a separate room from the kids icing her knee. My son was still around the kids where the tooth fragment that was left in his mouth could've went further into his gums, he was not being comforted or consoled. No ice pack, and vomit still in the back of his hair. Being that I didn't know if he had a concussion or not I immediately took him to the ER. Present day my son is fine, just with a missing front tooth. He was not speaking well enough at the time this happen to actually tell me what happened to him. All he could say was "ouch(y)" . He is now 3 years old and I didn't step foot back into this daycare after he was hurt. I would never recommend this establishment and I'm still angered by the disrespect and disregard of my son to this day . As a parent it is so easy to trust a daycare because they have cameras, or a lot of children that seem to be adapting , etc. BUT follow your intuition , do random pop ups, investigate.

My daughter is in her 3rd year at this CDC. The school recently had a face lift and it's so much better now. The teachers are god send. My daughter has learned to enjoy going to school and is learning so much every day she goes. They have a curriculum they follow and it's sanctioned by Burbank Unified. I will be sad to be moving to Lakewood. We've created fond memories and friendships with teachers and staff. Keep it up Horacemann! We need more institutions like you. And the teachers, you guys indeed are superstars!

I love this school!!! I myself am a teacher (16 years now) and put my daughter in Horace Mann when she was 16 months old. I felt great everyday sending her to school here. Every teacher she's had has been wonderful. She moved through three classes. The teachers are warm, loving, kind, and have an in depth knowledge of appropriate developmental needs and milestones! They have taught her socialization and academics she through play, singing, art projects, zoo phonics , reading circles, counting , and well developed science lessons and units. Not too mention this school is safely tucked away in the hills where they have rabbits come to the yard that they feed, deer whom graze near the fences and caterpillars that they watch change into butterflies. I have yet to see any other preschool that has a yard even close to as big and green as Horace Manns. My daughter loves running through the yard with her friends and playing under the trees!

My son started attending this daycare in January at 3 months old. We couldn't be more pleased with Horace Mann. We searched high and low through all the daycare centers in Burbank and this one stood out from all the rest by far. Its affordable, nestled pleasantly in the foothills, and falls under Burbank Unified School District. Most importantly, the staff is amazing, always so warm and welcoming and very caring towards my son and other children. They not only take great care of them but keep them busy with plenty of developmental activities. Different play stations setup each day, sensory play activities and group stroller rides around the campus. They're always switching things up to keep the children exposed to different things. This was our first time entering our infant in a daycare so we were a bit nervous (we didn't enroll my daughter in daycare until she was two),but the staff helped us get over that quickly. Our son adapted very well and still gets excited each morning when we drop him off. One of the cool things about this center is it used to be an Elementary school, so it has a nice "campus" feel to it. Safe, secure and has multiple classes of all ages so you can see your child progress through each. We would highly recommend Horace Mann to anyone!

Let me just start off my saying I have a wonderful four year old that was diagnosed with autism. The therapy classes are great but the regular daycare isn't a well oiled operation. My child's first day at the school wasn't so well and they were already talking about kicking him out. Most of the staff there is just too old to keep up with these high energy kids. I feel it's unfair to dismiss a child just because of his or her disability. They speak so highly if this school and the kids they accept but when they run into a little challenge they give up just like that. There aren't many teachers out there today that is willing to take on something hard. It's so sad but true. I hate how they advertise that they take special needs kids but quickly give up on them. Someone needs to start speaking up because this won't end. I'm willing to take that stand for my child.

DISGUSTING CHILD ABUSE it is open door policy so feel free to come in unexpectedly to visit your child during the day, you will definitely see some disturbing things like teachers and their aids yelling at tiny little toddlers, babies being left to cry for hours with no one being attentive, and kids being yelled at for crying and being yelled at and possible physically abused during bathroom breaks. PLEASE PUT A HIDDEN CAMERA ON YOUR KID IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE ME. I moved to Canada and schools are much more pleasant here, this school on the other hand had the worst two faced staff and were especially cruel to the special needs kids.

Neglectful,Unpatient,Verbally and physically abusive are the proper terms to describe this little house of horrors! I have walked in on several occasions to visit my child only to find my kid(along with many others) alone and or crying not being fed, then restrained for crying and maybe even spanked when diaper changes occur in the restroom. Shame on all the administrators for trying to cover this up instead of looking out for the best interest of those poor kids! SHAME! SHAME ON THEM! How dare they cover up such apparent abuse! I will tell everyone I meet to not walk but RUN as fast as you can from this school if you do not want your child un attended and hurt with no expanation how convienient for them! (FUTURE ADVICE FOR PARENTS WIRE YOUR KIDS WITH CAMERAS AND AUDIO RECORDERS IF YOU WANT TO CATCH THE CULPRIT HERE!)
