Well, planned brand new community center. This is a great place for kids to come to cool off in the summer while school is in. They can come do homework or come hang out in a safe place with their friends. There’s also programs and lessons for music here There is classes for adults as well. Pricing is pretty accurate for the area and of course it’s always convenient when it’s walking distance. There’s always security around and that makes me feel very safe especially with my children hanging out. There is clean bathrooms, and nice staff .

Beautiful facility. My 2 year old and I were touring the space. She had a fit and cried for exactly 7 seconds then stopped and we continued to quietly walk around. One of the ladies behind the desk came up to us and said there was no crying allowed in the facility and said if she cried again we would have to leave. Apparently this place is not toddler friendly.

Kristine and Maggie at reception are all stars.
As a stay at home dad, the free toddler play room was part of my daughter's weekly routine.
The facilities are well kept and clean. Overall a highlight of my stay in Burlingame CA.

New Mahjong classes with Shelley Krupp Williamson are super. She is an excellent, fun and clear speaking teacher and her enthusiasm and knowledge of the game are amazing; great way to meet folks too! debi simon

The new (2022) Recreation Center is just stunning: wonderful, spacious rooms in a variety of sizes to meet any type of meeting need. The flow/layout is exceptional. The building has wonderful views of Washington Park from every room, and is a warm and welcoming place. This new facility supports the community at all ages in so many ways. The downsides are certainly "fixable." Reserving a room, or even getting information on the rooms is less than ideal, often requiring numerous phone calls and emails. The staff at the facility, while possibly well-intended, does not seem to have much (any?) training in customer service. The more senior staff often appears to be inconvenienced by and dismissive of questions. Many of them are long-time city employees and may just be burnt out. The newer, more junior staff appear to lack training, and are often unable to answer questions. I will continue to use the Community Center, of course, but more staff training would certainly make it a more welcoming environment (and would likely increase the rental income as well).
