I walked into the Burlingame branch on a Saturday and was greeted immediately by Dennis. I had some questions regarding their savings accounts. Dennis was able to answer all my questions and said he would follow up with me in a few days to ensure my transaction went through as discussed. Although Dennis normally works at the Cupertino branch, he called me back two days later to follow up and to let me know the bank had increased their savings rates. The experience was excellent and working with Dennis was like having a personal banker.

This is the second time sterlings closed before 2pm on a Friday, in my experience. Please be professional, and run within the business hours advertised.

My online account got locked this pass weekend. I called the 24/7 number and got a recorder message that it was after business hours and to leave a message. 24/7? Left a message with my contact info and assume I would get a call. Its Monday late afternoon. No call. Called the branch and told the rep I needed my online account reset. He said he will transfer be to the back office to have them take care of it. Got transferred and got the same recording to leave a message. Called the branch again and stated no one was picking up and whether someone at the branch can help. He said no and gave me another 800 number to call. I mentioned I left a message this pass weekend and got no callback. He said they don't return calls from the weekend. All right, we're getting somewhere now. I have been calling the 800 number and getting busy signal. Customer service is not this banks makeup.

quite surprise this bank is different style from other bank. I definitely received good service, Amanda the branch manager helped solve my problem.

I opened both a business and personal account here a few years ago and am very happy with the move. The customer service has been excellent and the the branch manger Amanda and her staff go above and beyond in helping us. Best of all they actually know your name when you walk in making it the most welcoming bank I have ever been associated with.

Worst ever, also hella shady. I worked with Abby Ho on a loan- she was rude, disrespectful and uncommunicative throughout the whole process. Worst of all, she failed to get the loan done as promised. Beware- this bank has no security protocols for protecting personally identifiable information- they send out screenshots with other people's social security numbers and loan details that the agent had on the second monitor without even noticing.

This is actually for Sterling Bank in Westlake Daly City. There wasn't a listing for it. If I could have given this bank a negative 10 stars I would have. Run do not walk away from this bank. It took us 18 months to finally get a mortgage with them. We had to redo everything three times. Ron Mendoza was the most ineffectual ,slow,pathetic mortgage broker ever. It was just excuse after excuse. There was a million hoops. I have dealt with others mortgages and never experienced anything like this. The higher ups wouldn't return phone calls. It was a TIC loan which is more difficult ,but 18 months...pathetic.

The worst...loan agent voice mail is full, Corporate won't respond, buyer is now going to default on RE purchase. Do not use this bank.

I don't normally leave yelp reviews but when I saw the unfair comments I had to weigh in. I have been a member of the Burlingame branch for over 8 years and I have ALWAYS had excellent service. The people are extremely friendly and ready to go out of their way to help. Rarely a line to wait and I love being able to sit in a comfortable chair as I do my business. Warm down home atmosphere with no insincere welcome spiel like most other bankers are programmed to recite.

I got a letter that my CD was about to mature. Granted that I've been so darn crazy busy, I went to the bank 1 day late after the 7-day grace period to take it out. I also bank at Pacific National Bank (PNB) on Burlingame Ave. & the staff there are 100% better! (Hope US Bank doesn't change the company culture.) When my CD matured at PNB & I missed the cut-off date by a month, they reversed the penalty & they have 1 very appreciate customer & I kept my money in the bank. At Sterling Bank, the bank manager tells me that he has no recourse to reverse the $31 (which is a pretty steep penalty) because the system puts that in. C'mon now. My money was there for over 6 months. This bank made money out of my deposit & they can't reverse $31?! Lame, Sterling Bank. We all know there are ways to override. Very lame. They have the worst customer service! No wonder their office looks like a ghost town when I visit their office. I will never do business with them again!

My wife and I had a horrible experience from this institution tonight. We will be only going back to close our accounts. Tonight, James the teller with broken english called my wife within minutes after accepting her deposit to say he could not accept the deposit because the check was made out to both my wife and I. He said that since I was not on the account, he wanted me to come back to the bank and write,"pay to my wife's name", so that he could deposit the check. I returned to the bank and did as such. Within 5 minutes after I left the bank, he called our home again saying he still could not deposit the check because I was not on the account. Can you say, ring around the rosey...these people really are idiots! We spoke with the bank manager who was rude and could not explain why after all this trouble, they would not deposit our check into her account even after I endorsed the check and signed it over to her. The manager seemed confused and not professional. Many times this bank has been closed earlier than posted hours. We have had deposits posted days later after our original deposit. I highly suggest not doing business with Sterling period. They have some pretty awful reviews!
