My boyfriend and I drove from Oxnard to try this place for lunch on Sunday afternoon 4/7/24 about 1:00pm. We wanted to see a game and enjoy lunch and drinks at the bar. A gentleman greeted us and immediately cleared a table and said he would be right back. We noticed two people sitting at the bar and a couple at a table. Didn't look busy at all. As we were sitting on the booth, the bartender got our attention and said that she was slammed and if we wanted good service we should ask to sit in the dining area. She made us feel so unwelcome. I felt uneasy and uncomfortable after that, so we left and went to Ric's. The bar there was pretty full with one bartender who seemed genuinely happy when she greeted us. We had drinks within a few minutes. Had a great lunch and we were able to watch the game. It's a shame we were not able to try the Sportsman's, but who would want to support an establishment who doesn't want to serve you.

Get past the outdated decor... this feels like a place you would have been to with your grandparents when you were a kid. There are plenty of choices on the menu but 3 of 4 of our group ordered the Prime Rib dinner. It comes with soup or salad (they serve French Onion daily but we got the white Clam Chowder). You also have a choice of 2 sides. We had the baked potato and mixed veggies. Meat was perfectly cooked as we ordered. Our Server was super friendly and experienced. We arrived at the beginning of the dinner hour. It got busier while we were eating and there seemed to be a need for more help. Servers were doing their best to keep things on pace but there were a couple of slow waits to be seated for some arrivals.

This is the only restaurant in LA or Ventura counties that still makes excellent bacon wrapped Beef Tourndoes with the classic bernaise sauce!

What an awesome meal, on Saturday. I've been before, to The one in Ventura. The atmosphere was old School. Saw a big room where the bar is situated. We're seated promptly. The food prices were fair. Ordered rack of lamb and Tournado fillet. The sourdough bread was great. Caesar salad was very good! The plate had plenty of food, and the quality was easily tasted!The baked potato and veggies were a positive! The server, unfortunately I didn't catch her name, but she wore a Bolo tie (stringy rope tie) w a horse on it. Long straight hair, with a semi raspy voice. Mild sarcasm that was welcomed! This place reminded me of back when The Hungry Hunter and Alexander's (both in Ventura) were the lalces to go for a fine dining meal!The Bernaisse sauce hit the spot, as well!The manager, I believe was Asian, did check on us, to see if he could be of service.My left overs were thoroughly enjoyed the next day. The lamb was also, top Notch!I'm glad I cam here. The draw was a promotion that I had available. I'm glad I came! The taste on my Palate, is lasting and would easily return for another meal!Thank you very much!!!

Came in Yesterday with a few friends , Mandy was our server , had the pork chop was delicious and the mashed potatoes delicious, veggies cooked perfect, Mandy was awesome and very attentive… see u soon Mandy thx

Great food, great service, and the place was quiet but ready to rock and roll. Many areas in this place are for large parties.. Everyone was hooting and hollering during the televised football game. It was a good atmosphere to watch the football game and have a great New York Strip steak.Give the place a try....you will be happy that you did!

Went there Sunday w/friends from work and they had the best big band playing Christmas music, WAS AMAZING!!! Haven’t been there in years but will be bringing more friends.

Unfortunately, there wasn't much open for nice places to eat on Thanksgiving. They had a very limited menu which did not include pasta or great options for a vegetarian. We thought the food was so so but the price was ridiculously expensive since they jack the prices up for Thanksgiving meals. Very poor that they allow for the back door to be propped open, allowing smokers to fill the restaurant with second hand smoke blowing in from them allowing smoking at the back door.Vegetarian options: They normally would have a fettuccine. Alfredo option but not on Thanksgiving. Therefore, you are very limited to only what they want to sell.The meals that we did get on Thanksgiving were not that great. I would not recommend this place and we will definitely not be going back overpriced. Not that great of service. Very bland solid dressings
