April Contreras with VCCU Camarillo, CA location, was amazing to work with. She goes way above and beyond. She did our car loans, bank accounts and just was really just top notch to work with. Make sure you ask for her when needing loans, setting up new accounts, etc. because you will not be disappointed. Thank you April. I'm so glad I left Wells Fargo and came over to VCCU. Julie R.

After reading all the reviews here... I feel thankful again for being helped by April Contreras! My new ATM card for a joint account with my daughter was not working at the ATM. It was late Friday afternoon, and I sorta really wanted to get it fixed. So I walked in into the building only to see a long line waiting. Never been inside the Camarillo branch, I was lost and searching for some eye contact for help. No... everyone seemed busy. When I turned to exit, April at her desk stopped her work, looked up, and said "Can I help you?" I explained my situation and she began looking into the system and trying to figure out what happened to the card. The account was opened at the TO branch and the card was ordered there. April seemed to disagree on how the card was issued but she kept her mouth shut; instead, she focused on helping me solve the problem. She then walked through the process with me at the ATM, going back and forth, and decided to reset the record and the password. She showed me the instructions--step by step. That's when I glanced my eye over her desk nameplate because I was really impressed with her service and professionalism. Finally, after the password was reset, she walked me out to the ATM and saw me trying it again to make sure the issue was completely resolved. At work, I train and manage people every day. I know that's a five-star service and April is a five-star employee. Though it's unlikely I will visit the Camarillo branch ever again, I am happy to keep my impression of it this way.

April C. has been an amazing person to deal with these past few years. Always goes above and beyond and makes sure she answers any and all questions before we leave. Personal loans, credit cards to auto loans she is who I want to deal with as she knows how to get it done and with smile!

I sold a truck to a guy that took out a loan with VCCU. We came to this branch as he called around and was told he could come here during lunch. The loan specialist wanted me to leave the title and documents with him, and come back another day. I asked why I would do that without payment and he said he could just make copies to prepare the paperwork. I look around and there's no one in this bank. There was the lady he was helping and 1 person with a teller. There was a bank manager in the bank and another teller standing around. I asked why we wouldn't just be able to do the transaction today, and the loan specialist said because he had appointments. He typed at about 1 word per minute, a sloth's pace, like the DMV Sloth out of zootopia and the guy I sold my truck to called around. We went to the Ventura branch which was way busier, walked in, and were seen within 10 minutes, the transaction was completed within another 10 minutes. I don't understand why the specialist here couldn't just have finished with the lady he was helping and squeezed us in before his other appointment, but no effort was made to accommodate their long time customer buying my truck. The only thing received here was attitude and a "we have appointments" as I look around an empty bank. The Ventura branch off of Victoria has way better customer service, glad I do bank here.

April Contreras was so nice and got straight to the point and got everything done super quick! I went to open up a bank acc along with savings. I also went with high hopes of getting a credit card to start building my credit, and she didn't disappoint! :)

Beware of DATA BREACH and lack of protection for your accounts, especially minor person information. don't trust your kid's account to them as they do not have protocols in place to rectify a situation regarding a minor's information being leaked from them. Take some time to look at banks and go somewhere else to protect yourself and your children if they are minors and thinking of having an account with VCCU. VCCU still has not delivered on having a code for identity protection for a minor. They knew the accounts that were impacted from the Data Breach in Dec 2022 and failed to have proper remedial action in place. They knew the account and the information for a minor was leaked. Yet, they failed to obtain codes for a minor. They also failed to notify members that their identities had been leaked until starting in July 2023. 6 months later?!? In Sept 2023, I brought to their attention that Experian, they contracted to monitor their members identity due to their leak, stated VCCU only contracted for adults not minors and Experian said to go to the bank for a code for a minor code. I have been trying to resolve this with VCCU since only to receive the run around. First they were supposed to call back, then didn't. Then I finally got someone higher up. Then they said Experian is giving out the incorrect information. The. They said they were getting additional services with Experian to resolve this for minors. (Do not be fooled by the word smithing of their marketer on Yelp. their marketer is paid to make them sound better- VCCU did not have services set up for identity monitoring for minors. It is not as simple as a code is on its way. They should have had codes established since the start of the data breach as they knew which accounts and information was leaked.) I assume they still do not have codes for minors as I have yet to receive a code to resolve this situation. Then they said Experian was closed til the new year and couldn't resolve it saying I'm on a list to receive a code. Which again, shouldn't that code already been in place at the start of the data breach that occurred Dec 2022? that's over a year ago. As of 1/4/2024, they still have not sent me a code and I sent an email (again.) So from sept 2023 to Jan 2024, we are going on 4 months of trying to resolve with VCCU. There is already a class action in progress about the data breach situation. On a separate note, I left VCCU and went to another bank with much higher interest on accounts. In a couple of months, I have already made more on my accounts through that bank than in a year or two of dividends with VCCU. So I endured and still am enduring terrible customer service, problem resolution, and blatant lack of accountability without any great benefits like earning more money on my accounts. Learn from my mistake in trusting VCCU. Research banks, look up reviews, be informed, and go somewhere else.

This rating is only for the Camarillo location. Place is badly run. The manager is a real piece of work. Rude, obnoxious . Staff is the same . You will be required to show identification every time you go in. Avoid this location. Fortunately, not all of their locations are like this.

Let me start off by saying April Contreras is truly great at what she does and I hope she gets the recognition from VCCU that she deserves. I went in there stressed and her customer service made me leave content knowing I made the right choice by going to VCCU. I have been a Wells Fargo customer since 2001 and have been overcharged on interest fees etc since I can remember. I was standing in line and April overheard my concerns and brought me straight to her desk. She asked if I was on my lunch break and got me in and out of there as quickly and sufficiently as possible. Without sharing too much of my business, I am now a dedicated VCCU simply because of April and the GREAT service she provided. Ps. Thank you again April if you see this!!!

We have had four accounts there for about a year. There are two many issues to list. There are two that should concern any customer because they are the same issues for which the CFPB has fined large banks like BofA. Perhaps the CU charter is different but these practices are still unconscionable. 1. If an automatic payment is declined for lack of funds, VCCU charges an overdraft fee. If the payment is resubmitted, you are charged another NSF. You are not notified by text or email so unless you notice it, the fees increase. This was for my son's account and "as a courtesy", VCCU reversed all but one of the NSF fees. 2. If you have debits and credits that post on the same day, many financial institutions post the deposits before posting the debits. In one case, VCCU posted the debits before the deposit and created an NSF situation for which they charged their usual fee. They said that's how they do it. The tellers are fine. However anything out of the ordinary creates problems because no one at the branch is able to help. When I opened the first two accounts, I made a mistake when I submitted the new account information to one of my own automatic deposits, the Social Security Administration. The SSA tried to discover which account it had been posted to at VCCU. VCCU indicated that they had no deposits that were not matched to an account and could not coordinate a trace with SSA. After two months, SSA finally reissued the funds to the correct account. My son also had fraud issues because of a scam online. When I discovered it, they offered no help. Evidently if he approved his account being charged for a "contest", it was fine to keep charging him every month. VCCU is not directly responsible for this but they had no interest in helping to quash such issues. At the least, they could have offered to report the issue to law enforcement or advocate for more federal enforcement and tougher laws. It happens often but it's all on their customers. Buyer beware? Just say no to VCCU.

I had the best buying car experience with VCCU. This is my second car loan with them and first time I worked with April and I thought I hit lottery with customer service and how she helped me with process. Any questions she responded quickly. So as I applied for second loan and it was someone else I was a little worried at first... but Christopher P (Camarillo branch) really went above and beyond. I had dealership trying to pressure me even after they knew I had my loan. I reached out to Chris and he stayed on line with me. Showed the dealership that I had a reputable bank behind me. They laughed when I said "hold on let me get my banker on the line" his response was "Good luck it's Saturday 12" The look on his face was priceless! This is a experience I will never forget. Chris went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of properly. I would recommend this branch to anyone. Thank you Chris and the entire bank staff. I have never had a bad experience or attitude from any of them. Arlene
