In 1996, I visited Cambria, CA, as a teenager, largely uninterested in the town but captivated by Hearst Castle. Nearly 30 years later, I returned with my wife for a vacation. While browsing online, we discovered a charming hotel that offered EV charging, perfect for our Tesla. Upon arrival, the front desk staff greeted us with exceptional friendliness and professionalism. Our room was stunning; immaculately clean, well-organized, and equipped with a comfortable bed. The true highlight, however, was its proximity to the ocean. A short walk across a quiet street led to a scenic wooden boardwalk and paths down to the shore, where we could dip our feet in the water. We were thoroughly impressed by the room’s quality, the outstanding staff, and the convenience of the EV charging station. We’ll definitely return on our next trip to Cambria.

-Pros: kind front desk staff, quaint, great views and location, clean, nice furniture, kind housestaff, got 20% off with booking during winter, good water pressure in shower, quiet
-Cons: no hot water x2 occurrences over 2 day period, found sand in breakfast burrito, no compensation offered except for more of the same food, breakfast delivered to room in brown paper bag (not exactly as “boutique” as I’d hoped)
*Overall had hoped for a better experience after spending more than $500 for a 2 night stay. Will try a different hotel next time we’re in town.

Great hotel right on the water. Beautiful view and simple rooms but all you need. Breakfast burrito in your room each morning, GF and Vegetarian options.

So the Blue Dolphin Inn has great service and it's a nicely appointed hotel. I will say that because we had a small dog with us, we didn't get a great room. They only have two pet friendly rooms and neither have a patio option, which is what we really wanted. Unfortunately we won't stay again as we called around and found that many other Moonstone inns have patio and balcony options with ocean views for those with small dogs. Such a shame, as the Blue Dolphin has great water pressure and the location is wonderful. I wish they'd give us dog parents a better room choice. The room we had was dark and depressing.

Right in front of the ocean - but no service. Breakfast to the room, it was good. The body towels were comfy, perfect for old retired people. Free water.

Spent 5 days here and it was glorious. It's a bed-and-breakfast, really. The pricey rooms have a head-on view of the ocean. Our room, on the NW side, had a restricted view, but an open window provided all of the necessary soundscape. The bed was firm and comfortable.

Great time revisiting here. We spent our honeymoon here back in June 1990. So glad we stayed here this October. Magnificent area for peaceful walking which included seascapes and roaming wild (?) turkeys and deer. Nice breakfasts brought conveniently to our room, too!

Beautiful location across from the ocean. Cute little hotel. Our room was small but comfortable bed. Nice that you get breakfast delivered to your room. We’ll go back!

The rooms are large and nice, but the breakfast was horrible: a cheap delivery from an outside place in a brown paper bag, dry scrambled eggs and industrial orange juice, the kind of breakfast you get in a plane economy seat. Globally overpriced for what we get.

This place is absolutely awesome. It was extremely comfortable, wonderful location. The staff was wonderful. Free breakfast delivered to your room in the morning, which was delicious. Seriously, well worth the money. We will be back!!!

Cambria is beautiful in general, and The Blue Dolphin is a great place to stay to enjoy it!
It's a quiet inn, very much on point with Cambria. The location is directly across from the beach, we fell asleep with the window open and the sounds of the waves lulled us to sleep. Seriously, amazing!
The little touches are really nice. Besides a clean and comfortable room, which was well stocked and appointed, the staff was incredibly friendly. When we checked in, the attendant walked us to our room and gave us a quick tour, showing us where to find everything - before handing us physical keys with a brass key ring (no cards to scanners for the room). Just little things like that - we really loved it.
Also, great was the breakfast delivered to our room in the morning - plant based chorizon was a hit, too.
The sunset was glorious, and coffee in the morning on the patio - just perfect. We will definitely book again when back in the area.
