Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter helps with pet registration for base housing, a process described as super easy, taking less than 15 minutes with helpful and friendly staff. The fee is $20, accepting both cash and card. The shelter is also a place where you can find a real good furry friend, including pitbull-type dogs that are often surrendered due to base breed restrictions. One family adopted a dog from the shelter that had been abused, and with a real family, the dog overcame its fears. For lost pets, the shelter works with animal control to reunite them with owners, offering reasonable fees and sometimes providing free kennels. The staff are described as nice, super helpful, and awesome people.

This place is manned by both Marines from PMO and from a full time employee. The fees they charge to register your animals go toward upkeep of the animals they take in as well as other costs associated with running the non-government funded shelter (minus the Marines of course).

Went in today to register my cat for base housing. The lady that works here is nice & super helpful!! :) filled out paper work & for the pink slip that is needed for base housing . Paid $20 in cash for registration & they accept card too
