“Lisa at The Bridal Veil in Capitola helped me find a beautiful dress for my wedding. I call Lisa the Bride Whisperer — she was so great and helpful with me, she made an overwhelming and frankly frightening task so much easier and smoother. You might think that shopping for a wedding dress is easy, and perhaps it is for some people, but I don’t know any of those people nor am I one of them. My bestie and I went to this supposedly elegant place in San Jose where clearly the owners were in it just for the money, the place was loud and people were walking right through the area where I was trying on dresses.

My bestie got her wedding dress from the Bridal Veil years ago and my wedding planner recommended the Bridal Veil too. I gave Lisa my measurements beforehand, and I was in the area one day so I stopped in and she measured me, which was even better. I was an over-50, plus size, big-busted, menopausal hot mess of a bride and finding a dress was my biggest fear. I was so happy about getting married but finding a dress to wear was really my biggest stress point. I’d ordered some dresses online to try on at home and they fit terribly and I felt so gross in them, I just was so stressed and frustrated about it all.

From the moment I walked in to the shop, I never felt shamed or dismissed (being plus size, that can happen all too easily when shopping for clothes), and Lisa treated me like a princess, even though I didn’t feel like one. For our first appointment she had pulled some selections and based on those we ended up deciding on a dress with some modifications. She knows tailoring and dressmaking so well she made some suggestions that I would’ve never have thought of and the dress turned out to be gorgeous and one of a kind. And, I got to sparkle :-) She also helped my mom find a gorgeous outfit for the wedding and welcome dinner. She also helped me find some bras that fit me way better than what I was wearing, and having something fit well definitely helped me feel better and look better.”

“Letty was so kind and gracious . She helped my daughter pick out the Senior prom dress of her dreams. The shop had a great selection and tons of catalogs if more choices were needed. I wish we would have known about this gem of a shop earlier.

The only thing I would recommend is some seating for guests to wait in while dresses are being tried on.”
