This isn't my favorite Dollar Tree. I only go here if I happen to be in the area already and don't plan on going to watsonville or Scott's valley any time soon. The other one in Santa Cruz is slightly better than this one, but not worth the distance. What makes this not my favorite store is that it's small, the things are packed in and so there's not so much selection. The ones in Scott's valley and Watsonville have superior items. For example the ubiquitous grey ceramic plates/bowls/mugs, I think there was one mug there today and that's it. I've had mixed experience with how friendly the staff are here - today I had a really nice checkout person but sometimes I've not been so lucky. Same with how clean the store is, I've had times it was a bit run down. The parking lot is small, difficult to manoeuver around in, dirty, and often has people loitering around, so I tend to make extra sure I locked my car door, which is an extra worry added to my itinerary. All that said, I went today and spent $50 easily, and I was able to find pretty much everything I needed today (mostly party supplies).

It's totally a dollar tree... six of one, half a dozen the other. If you know, you know. If not, you're missing out on a few bad*** items that match the quality of name brands at a fraction of the cost. That recently includes bin bags that rival hefty stretch tight. The first time in ages, they've had a bin bag that doesn't disintegrate when you shake the darn thing open. Oh dear, got carried away there.

Doesn’t have ICE ? For a beach community you think they’ve got ice .

Smaller store with less options and frequently poorly stocked with staff standing around, not working.

Best place to buy cards.
Hallmark card only 1.25 versus 5+ at other stores. They have all occasions.

I picked out a dozen Christmas cards that said, they were 2 for a dollar, and when I got to the register, they charge me a dollar a piece and the manager lady, even though I showed her, the sign is right on the rack, she said. "Oh well, the Hallmark person that stocked that shelf left a little note somewhere saying that some are 50 cents and some are a dollar, so there" and then she walked away.

Friendly staff and selections of certain great products like root beer and cream sodas, flavored coffee sweetener, many candy selections, tissues , cleaning stuff, and sandwich baggies.
