About Carlsbad City Library

Carlsbad City Library is a great and comfortable library, described as state of the art and an awesome wonderland for all ages. It is noted as the most comfortable in the area for using a PC or stretching out, superior to smaller, crowded locations. The library offers a lifetime of knowledge through its supportive staff, books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs, and computers. It features a wonderful shop, lots of classes and adventures, and an elevator for the second floor. There is a café at the entrance with delicious sandwiches and meals, plus outdoor patio eating. The library has great parking spots. Some reviewers note it can feel quite cold indoors. A reason given for not rating it five stars is its hours, as it closes at seven on weeknights and has limited Sunday hours, which is not ideal for students. The staff receives high praise for being thoughtful, supportive, and providing wonderful assistance.

    This is definitely the most comfortable library if you need to use PC or stretch out. Unless you use a college library, I know of no comparable library close by. The smaller ones can get pretty crowed. They also have rooms you can book for study or groups.

    Carlsbad has great libraries. The only reason I didn't give a five star rating is because they have yet to return to their pre-COVID hours. They close at seven on week nights and are only open a half day on Sunday. This is not good for hard working students who are in class or at work during the day.
