#1MADEWELL fanatic... teachers get additional 15% off. I'm transitioning my closet with all MADEWELL jeans , sweaters and jackets. Fashionable clothes well made for all sizes and ages. Also dedicated to helping others in need. All cotton used for clothing comes from small villages growers , where cotton is their source of income. Great cause and phenomenal clothes...

I was in the area with my sister to try on dresses at BHLDN in Anthropologie across the street. We hopped on over to Madewell to try on jeans after finding her wedding dress (major life moment!!) and were not greeted t by store associates upon arrival. Ok, so we disregard that and enjoy our time perusing the store. When we finally want to try on clothes, the sale associate was kind and helped us and even recommended that we order online in size tall. I went to checkout to buy them online to be delivered to me, and then they were sold out of my size. It would have been best practice in my opinion to have had the associate who was helping us check if they could order the jeans I wanted online before recommending it to me. It felt like a rollercoaster of emotions to just get some jeans. However, I finally got my size in tall ordered online, through months (seriously five months) of checking Madewell online. I had them delivered here, and went to pick up my jeans in store and yet again no one greeted me, there was no one at the front register or desk, and there were shoe boxes strewn about on the floor. The same super kind sales associate (maybe Joan?) was there and I got to tell her I finally got my jeans after five months which was fun, but overall the experience was only successful based upon my own efforts to get these jeans. A real lack of customer commitment in my experience.

I was ignored the entire time I was in the store!!! When I finally hear one of the employees say, "Hi! How are you doing?" It wasn't to me, of course, it was to a "different" lady. These employees must be racist and prejudice. I spent more than 10 min browsing the store and passed them many times. They did not even acknowledge me. It was so uncomfortable. I didn't want to spend my money there so I went to the one in Mission Viejo. The employees were much nicer there. I have also shopped at UTC and never experienced this. All employees at the Carlsbad location should be fired.

After reading these reviews, you would think by now, the sales associates have either already been fired or graduated their high school and moved on to their colleges. Wonder if it's still the same sales associates from all these years that have zero customer service skills, I am in town for the first time and decided to stop by. No greeting and I had to smile at them first. No one asked me if I needed help. I was being ignored entire time I was there. I purchased something of course, but now I wished I did not buy anything from this store. Horrible experience.

I had an exellent experience at this store Justina was very very helpful. I live in FL and I don’t have any Madewell stores near me. I purchased 2 dresses while visiting my family and I had some questions about the dresses, I called the store here from Florida and Justina was super nice and help me with all my questions and request. Thank you Justina for all the help I appreciate it so much!

I came in trying to check out the store. Like the other reviewers. I was not greeted the many times I came and even ignored as the salestaff were too busy chatting with each other. I thought it was prejudice till I noted the other reviews. I am surprised their boss doesnt say something. I was shocked. I did retail and always made sure to make eye contact, and say hi and offer help. I asked for help and finally got some. It got a 2 as they have great dresses ($118-138) omg right? but they are always full price and I can't wait for sales as my size (M, L or XL)is gone by that time. They also need to get more stock of their popular shoes. they had a camel leather sandal/maryjane which was $138 and I would have bought as it was well made but sold out. The sales person noted they don't make much. Madewell don't frustrate your fans/sales target customers. We want to be satisfied. Take note. The online customer service is excellent. I ordered next day shipping and it didn't arrive. They refunded my money. Thank you Madewell.

Nice and clean store .. BUT the service .. omg .. it was disappointing. Not one single person on the floor asked me if I needed assistance. This was so odd. Fashion Valley Mall's Madewell is the exact opposite and has great customer service. I don't know if it was an off day or the team just needs to up their customer service. There were two representatives on the floor near the Jean area just chatting away acting as is they were at brunch rather than work. To make matters worse. The line took forever. The customers in line with me were just looking at each other. We were all thinking the same thing.. the two cashiers were just as slow as molasses. I get it, you have to wait in line sometimes. But, customer service 101, acknowledge the 8 people in line at least once.. not a peep from them .. I was in line for 20 minutes. When I finally was able to pay. I will say the cashier seemed friendly and surprisingly I was out of there quick. I didn't take pics, which is ironic since I was bored, waiting in line forever.

I'm a Madewell Insider, have shopped at Madewell for years, purchased several items, shop here regularly and return items as needed. Today I had a return of 2 items I had purchased a week ago. One of the items did not have tags on it, as I thought I was going to keep it and had removed the tags. The item was unworn and had not been washed. Today I was informed that they don't accept returns without tags, but they accepted the return "this one time". Over the years, I have returned several items, some of them no tags and no one has ever informed me of this policy until today. It was unfortunate how the sales person and manager treated me. They were both quite cold, glaring and unpleasant. So much so that I really don't want to step foot back in the store. It could have been treated so differently by sharing with me instead of acting as if I'd been wearing the clothes and returning them. Madewell: teach your employees to have Nordstrom customer service and if a person is going to be treated like this because there's not tags on a return item. The policy needs to be in large lettering in the store. Honestly, your competitors are more classy.

Clothing falls apart, probably the most unusually defective brand of clothing I have ever known. Shrinkage and fraying on my items after gentle washing. Staff is indifferent.

Had an incredibly positive experience at this location and love the pair of shorts I purchased. Rachel M helped me out at the register and really made me feel appreciated as a customer and as a person! The store is well laid-out, very organized, and clean. It was well-staffed and I didn't have to search hard for someone to help me.
