I swore we would never go back to a Petco after having numerous horrible experiences at locations like San Marcos and Encinitas. I'm really glad we gave La Costa a try. The staff were friendly and helpful. Tara in grooming really cared about our dog and was very knowledgeable.

The employee was polite but did not offer me a bag, and when I walked with my hands full, I dropped some things in the parking lot.
The best Petco store is located in San Marcos. They make sure you get excellent customer service.

Horrible customer service, don't order anything online because the lazy employee "rgm manager " I believe his name was Humberto is rude and disrespectful. Doesn't want to process a return even if I have the order number. Never will be going back to this location rude employee save your time and money from this store.

This is my happy place. Treats, grooming and my fave Just Food for Dogs is here too. Great service by Humberto today when my mom had to exchange my food because it had a hole in it.

Unfinished grooming job. Hair left inside my dogs ear and was told I needed to “have a vet take it out.” 24 hours later I’m at the vet paying for ear infection treatment and having them remove the hair, in which my vet noted “this groomer did not do their job and this is incomplete. A vet is not a barber.”This was my first time at Petco La Costa and after 4 hours waiting for my dog to be groomed, I will not be returning.

Amazing service from all of the staff, specifically the awesome chinchilla lady, Danielle! (Sorry if I spelled that name wrong 👀) After spending a good amount of time on research and planning, I've come to the conclusion that chinchillas aren't for me because of the time commitment and the difficulty of keeping the chin safe, prices were really good though! Much lower than I thought they'd be.
Danielle was so amazing, giving great advice, making sure I wasn't in the dark and had all the info I needed to make a commitment to a pet. Chinchillas are so weird, and cool! (They can live around 10, to even 30 years! 🤯)
Even with the amazing cuteness, it's a little too much. (I hope the beautiful chins find happy homes) The pets were well taken care of and loved, and I'm sure they'll continue to be later on.
So grateful for the extraordinary service at this Petco, and I'd love to let everyone know that the service here is just out of this world! (Maybe I'm just used to bad service, but still!!)

The only reason I gave this two stars was because of the wonderful girl upfront that finally helped me. I walked into the store and asked several people to help me find a certain dog food. One of the employees didn't even know if they carried it and it's a pretty common brand.he did not help me. Another one said that she was off the clock. I finally approached a third guy who was very reluctant to help me. I asked him several questions, and he seemed very bothered. I feel every time I come into the store that people are bothered with my questions and I have decided to go to Petsmart instead. Please if you are a manager or owner of the store you need to talk to your employees about how they treat their Customers.

I just move here and tried the grooming service for my shepherd. My dog can be challenging to groom but he did great and looks amazing. Thanks Kayleen for taking such good care of my boy.

I called your company the day of my purchase to praise the young man who not only helped me find the items I needed but took everything out to my car. I told him I was also looking for an item I didn’t see in the store and showed him the empty package. He told me to please return to the store with him because the item was on the shelf so back we went and I made another purchase. When I got home I called you to praise this young man whose name isMASIMOI remember the first time I came to this store several years ago ALBERT treated me as if I were visiting royalty. He found me the best products at the most affordable prices. A few days ago I needed live worms for Mitzvah, my turtle friend of 27 years. The worms I needed weren’t available but ALBERT took the time to look at each type of worm and found the perfect substitute until the worms Mitzvah loved were in stock. So I’ll be back in a few days to see ALBERT and get a live worm feast for my turtle ALBERT I thank you and rest assured Mitzvah is grateful too.And yesterday Massimo and Lily were so helpful as I switch all my pet needs from Costco to Petco because not only Petco quality products but customer service. Lily was amazing. She now knows all about my pets and their needs. My schnauzer, two African greys, two Norwegian Forest cats and my turtle I mentioned above. Thank you Lily, Massimo and Albert always.
