CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATES BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN YOUR CART!
I've been burned before by smart and final having expired food on the shelf and I stopped shopping here for about a year. With inflation being what it is, I thought I could grab a few things, avoiding the cheese and the chicken in particular and be ok.
About 2 weeks ago I came back to do a quick shop for some basics. The store itself seems clean but if you look closely a lot of the stuff has dust on it and they don't rotate the way they should. I grabbed a pack of hotdogs and I came home and put it in the fridge. Finally labor day came and I went to grab the new pack I bought and they expired IN FEBRUARY!! ITS MAY!!
Also I want to note a few other things, the produce always looks rotten. Most of the vegetables have mold spots, the Mexican squash is the worst. A lot of the peppers are also moldy.
The area this smart and final is in, is bad. There's lots of homeless, people come in and steal all the time.
There's one cashier who's whole personality is to be as quick as possible and that's fine but he bags terribly because he's going so fast. I don't want my bread smashed to death by my milk gallon. Thanks.
Overall I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone. It's a last resort kind of stop. No one should be shopping here. Go to any other smart and final.

Store was clean and fully stocked. Staff was friendly, and has good deals from time to time.

I shop here for a few items that I use fairly often at a lower price point. Mexican rice pudding, especially. They stock the lower sugar version that is better for my diabetes and I still get my dessert in a small package so I don't over-eat. I've also taken to getting produce there - it's as good as or better than any in town for most items and even has a small organic section.

What a wonderful experience at this grocery store! The staff is always helpful and goes out of their way to make sure you find exactly what you need. The store is well-organized, and it’s easy to navigate. I was particularly impressed with the quality of their dairy and meat sections, both offering fresh and high-quality items. The value is excellent, as their prices are more affordable than other stores in the area, especially for such premium products. I’ll definitely be coming back every week!

I went in the Carmichael Smart & Final store a few days ago to pick up some lemons and strawberries. There was only one package of strawberries left but I could clearly see that there was a rotten one on the very bottom (and most of us know what that means). The lemons all looked pretty old too. When I got to the cashier (she seemed like management) I asked her if there was a chance I could get a discount on the strawberries because they are going bad. She took the container and turned it upside down and looked at it. She said “I doubt it, there is only one rotten one, do you still want it” I just said “ya, I need my strawberries”. As I washed and went through them I had to cut off many rotten spots on about half of them. My opinion, they should be happy to discount these things to get rid of them, no they would rather throw them away when they totally rot!

B quality produce compared to Safeway and Bel Air and Raleys in the area.....just not very good at all. Meats are packaged so they are the same everywhere else but I found their pricing a little higher than other stores in the area.
Overall it may be convenient to stop in when driving by and at times their coupons are attractive rarely but definitely not a go to store for quality freshly cut meats, quality produce and utensils other places are just better over all.

Good afternoon!Today, I had an unpleasant shopping experience at the store. I walked into the store with a bag of laundry items. As I was emptying my cart of groceries to pay for them, the cashier helped me empty out the remaining groceries and reached into my bag of items. I didn't have time to tell him to stop. If I had been asked politely, I would have shown what was in my bag of things. There is no need to pry into my personal belongings.

I've been shopping this store for years and I just wanted to jump on here to say that Cameron is the BEST cashier you've ever had. He is so kind, beyond helpful, personable and very fast. He makes my shopping experience more pleasant and I appreciate him and his wonderful attitude very very much.
