Castro Valley Cyclery is a great local bike shop. The owner and mechanics are incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly, providing deeply human and professional service. They offer very competent and fast repairs, with work often completed within a couple of hours or days. The shop provides excellent advice and talks shop to help customers understand their bikes better. They have good and very reasonable pricing. Customers highlight the personal service and competency as incomparable to online shopping, making it the only shop they use. The business is highly recommended for purchases, repairs, and simple items like tubes and tires.
Very friendly and helpful staff. They even invited me in a ride! They had the tool I needed in stock. Overall great experience.

This past week I had a breakdown during a ride, a broken derailleur cable. I'm in the middle of training for some special bicycle events, and the owner, John, was so kind, so professional, ,& so helpful. Fixed my bike the same day, while I waited! I've ridden it twice since, and I'm just so supremely grateful.
