Hello, once again I need to leave another stellar review. Like I've espoused before I need to get away from my family because I take care of them full-time and just need a short term vacation. Kerry could not have been a more encompassing and super nice overnight hotel manager. Let my hair down the first night of my stay and he was endlessly helpful and just seems like a nice genuine person. Second night after I felt like somebody crapped in my mouth and realized I didn't bring a toothbrush or anything was totally the best in setting me up with the proper accoutrements. What more do you need, a nice caring person concerned about your well-being and doesn't hate the job they're paid to do. When you come here my man Kerry understands his role in being helpful to your stay. Once again, hotel rooms are as clean as clean can be. I honestly feel privileged having such a nice facility at my disposal this close to my house. I don't need to drive to the city or at least Dublin to feel like I'm not gonna get scabies from the sheets or share a connecting door with people on meth all night. righteous!

I stayed here for a long weekend and enjoyed it overall. The entrance is super small on Castro Valley Blvd (busy street) so it's easy to miss. The front desk and staff are all super friendly and nice, but the facility had two big issues:1. VERY flat, uncomfortable pillows. I had trouble sleeping through the night and had a lot of neck pain. I asked for a more supportive pillow, and the front desk gave me another super flat pillow lol. 2. Elevators are dangerous. I was in the lobby waiting for an elevator and housekeeping came down with two big carts of linen. So, I let them exit first and as I started going into the elevator, the door sprung out super quickly and hit my wrist with full force, and I spilled hot tea all over me. The elevator door was very strong and actually hurt. Thankfully, I'm young and healthy but an elderly person would have definitely fallen from the impact and had a more serious injury. Mgmt should invest in motion-detecting doors that can sense someone walking into the elevator, OR have a "keep doors open" button outside of the elevator. I would still recommend this place for the location. It's very central and close to Oakland, Fremont, SF, etc. But don't expect a comfortable night's sleep, and be SUPER careful going into the elevator. Here's my breakdown of pros and cons --PROS:- Friendly staff and customer service- Hot tub- Sauna- Fitness room (treadmill, elliptical, weights, stationary bike)- Decent breakfast (Eggs, sausage, bacon, eggs, bagels, muffins, yogurt, cereal, juice, etc.)- Clean facility- Decent, spacious roomsCONS:- Very uncomfortable pillows (super flat, gives you neck pain, hard to fall asleep)- Dangerous elevator doors that can't detect someone walking in and may hit you with full force- Small parking lot (but maybe this place doesn't get full booked very often)

We had a great experience checking in with the daytime staff. They were very helpful and accommodating knowing we were having a wedding for our daughter. Later in the early evening, a few of us sat in the lobby to chat in the seating area. While chatting, the front desk clerk was checking in people. I was not facing the check-in area and didn't see guests checking in. Apparently the front desk clerk by the name of Carey thought we were chatting too loudly because he let out a loud shush. I had no idea where the shushing was coming from because, like I said, I was not facing the check-in area. After the third loud exasperated shush, I realized he was shushing us. I had no idea that we were being loud. If he would have politely let us know he thought we were too loud, I would be less offended. Instead he found it necessary to treat 5 to 6 adults in their 30s to 60s as children. Such an unprofessional way to treat guests staying at this Holiday Inn Express.

The location is only 15 minutes from the airport and convenient to be near my training class. The amenities, breakfast area, lobby were very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful especially Kerri. I don't come to this area often, but would definitely stay here again if needed to.

Not feasibly near SF (30 minutes) but we had a wedding in the valley area. Nice, big rooms and continental breakfast in the morning. Staff was always outgoing and friendly; appears to be family run which is nice. Enjoyed our stay!

Beware when making a reservation. When clicking on the Holiday Inn Express website, I was high-jacked by a 3rd party that identified itself as "Reservation Counter". They quoted one price, took my credit card information. Put me on hold and came back saying my room was already taken. All they had available was a more expensive room. Beware of who you are actually booking with.

I used to work there at the Holiday inn Express in Castro valley years ago. I'm talking maybe 10, 15 or 20 years ago. I love working there. It was awesome. I worked at the front desk. I was there to pick up a guest from the Holiday inn Express.Safety: safe area which I like is not too far from the freeway. But still be aware of your surroundings at all times. Make sure you walk with people so that you could be in a comfortable setting. Do not carry any cash on youFood & drinks: restaurants like maybe McDonald's or I think that's Burger, King and a few restaurants if you don't mind walking. But you can also drive to him if you have a car. But if not walking distance is still good. Not too far from the hotel

We were very pleased with this hotel. The customer service was excellent. When checking in at the beginning of what sounded like a busy wedding weekend for this hotel. They were familiar with the wedding parties and their guest. They were kind and helpful. The hotel was surprisingly quiet. Breakfast had good variety and quality. I was also happy to see the room was larger than expected, and even with 2 queen beds, we had a couch and plenty of room for everyone.

A few family members and I stayed here for a wedding. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We needed a roll away bed for a kid, they had it to the room within 5 mins. The breakfast was good, coffee excellent and even has a nice garden patio to relax on.If we are in the area again we will definitely stay here.

I had an amazing stay while in town to attend concerts at Oakland Arena. The location was clean and felt safe and an easy BART or Uber to the venue. The BART is a good 25 min walk so I would recommend taking an Uber to it if you're on a time crunch. The front manager (Mr.Patel?) was so nice and allowed me to check in at 11am for no charge as a room was ready. They fulfilled my request of a high floor and quiet room. As a single female traveler, I felt safe and the staff always checked in to make sure everything was ok. The breakfast was excellent and the room was well equipped and clean. It was also very large with a sitting area, microwave and fridge, which really came in handy. The bed was very comfortable and the AC worked well. It may be loud for some but for me just feels like white noise, I'd much rather listen to that then loud children or footsteps, which I heard none of, so I slept very well!I would strongly recommend this hotel to those attending concerts at nearby Oakland Arena. It also had easy access to downtown SF via the BART. Thank you to the staff again!
