Terrible Experience at Redwood Animal HospitalRating: (1/5 stars)I recently had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience at Redwood Animal Hospital. I would strongly advise against taking your beloved furry friend to this place due to their complete lack of professionalism and care. Here's why I had such a terrible time:1. Unfriendly Vet assistant: The receptionists were incredibly sweet and nice. They welcomed me and helped me check in. I loved their up beat attitude and just a bubbly vibe. They were amazing ! 10/10 to the hiring staff for finding gems like them. The vet assistant thought was another story. Rebekah they lacked empathy and made me feel unwelcome from the moment I walked in. Their brusque attitude did not create a pleasant atmosphere for both pets and owners seeking help. They were just not fit in my opinion to be a vet assistant and shouldn't work in the vet place if their attitude was going to be so sour ! Honey needed some crystals to help calm her energy because they needed it.2. Incompetent Veterinarians: The veterinarian at Redwood lacked the necessary skills and knowledge to properly diagnose and treat my pet. Their lackadaisical approach resulted in misguided treatment plans and unnecessary expenses. It seemed as though they were simply going through the motions without genuinely caring for the well-being of the animals in their care.3. Long Waiting Times: Despite having an appointment, I had to endure an absurdly long waiting time. I understand that emergencies happen, but it was clear that Redwood Vet overbooked their schedule, leading to unacceptably long delays. This lack of respect for their clients' time only added to the frustration and discomfort of both the pets and their owners. I've been waiting weeks for this appointment because they've been booked and this was my appointment ??4. Dirty and Unsanitary Conditions: The clinic appeared poorly maintained and lacked proper sanitation. The waiting area was unkempt, with unpleasant odors lingering in the air. I observed minimal efforts in maintaining cleanliness, which is exceedingly important when it comes to animal health and well-being.5. Expensive and Unjustified Fees: Redwood vet charged exorbitant fees for subpar services. Not only did I receive below-average care, but I also ended up paying a significant amount of money for it. The inflated prices were completely unjustified considering the quality of service provided. In conclusion, I had an abysmal experience at Redwood Animal Hospital. The staff was rude, the veterinarians lacked expertise, the wait times were excessive, the environment was unsanitary, and the fees were unjustifiably high. I strongly urge you to avoid this place if you truly care for the well-being of your pets. There are far better options available in the area where your furry companions will be treated with the care and respect they deserve. Maybe I just need to stop looking in these areas for vet places because ciao they aren't it.

The doctors are good but I hate calling to their office or interacting with their receptionists, because one of the receptionists is very very rude.I was very polite and stayed very patient over the phone m. All I wanted is a vet appointment for my dog. This receptionist is very irritated and was upset that many people are calling, it’s holiday season, no appointments are available and told me to go find another vet etc.. I’m fine to search for vet care at another place if she politely says there are no appointments. She doesn’t have to be rude at customers. I did nothing to upset her.I don’t understand how the management doesn’t notice her behavior. They respond to the reviews. Hope they see this review and addresses the problem they have. Can’t they provide good customer service at the front desk? It is not hard to be nice to people.Due to this terrible receptionist, I’m giving them 3 stars.

We went to Redwood Animal Hospital on advice from a friend who recommended them in our time of need for our 5 year old female dog who has been diagnosed with a C-Tumor and we were in a panic looking for a Vet who was familiar that type of Tumor! They were wonderful and explained everything that would happen & told us to not expect all of the answers until the surgery was complete! We are Concerned, but believe we are in the right place!

Well explained recommendations. Personable staff. Even my shy cat was purring. Good care. The anxious doggo was well treated and is feeling much better. They do insist on an office visit for EVERY little thing..unlike most once they have examined and treated and it the exact same thing they were seen for before...

I brought my younger reactive Dobie Maze here after our 1st vet retired. Maze was treated extremely well. It was the 1st time I've seen her with a low anxiety level in public. The vet and staff went above and beyond to accommodate my Maze. I appreciate you! ??

Listed many issues beforehand I wanted to talk about. An obviously overworked vet came in, ignored all of them but the one he could immediately prescribe medication for, and then left. 1/10 - Don't go here if you actually care about your pets.

I’ve gotten a second/third opinion regarding my dog’s issues and two other Vets suggested that Redwood Animal Hospital has been price gouging services instead finding a solution. Will never return. Positive, most of the staff are receptive and provide great customer service. There is one lady there, usually receptionist on the left, who always has an attitude and should probably seek another vocation. If you visit it will be obvious. I’m now reminded to Always get a second opinion.

About: Rude staff. Makes mistakes. Arrogant. Unapologetic. Lies to shift blame to customer as a last resort (I asked for a discount for the inconvenience, not free services. I was not read back my phone number until I asked for it to be read back to me. You all dont read back numbers for each client. Stop lying.).Advice: Don't ask follow up questions. Do as your told. I personally would visit other clinics that are friendlier, no attitude issues when asking follow up questions and are only 5 minutes away ??Also you can now address me as, Mr. Our rude staff owes you an apology sir.

After having a bad experience at another local Castro Valley veterinary, we decided to give Redwood Animal Hospital an opportunity based on reviews and recommendations. We wish we could’ve loved the vet seeing what great reviews this clinic has, but our experience was just as bad as our first. Our experience began with taking both our cats to the vet. Our 1 year old cat and our 7 month old kitten at the time. We purchased the kitten and the cat package to cover them respectively for a year. The kitten was rescued off the street so she had some parasites and caught giardia. Both were ok within 3 weeks of following the vets orders. The kitten/cat package covered the initial stool sample exam however, not the last sample exam.We scheduled our kitten to get spayed and we took her in the morning of the appointment. I get a phone call from the vet stating that she did well during the surgery but they overdosed her on antibiotic medication that is used to prevent infections after the surgery. I was told that the individual that administered the medication gave her three times the amount my kitten needed. At this point, we were in so much emotional distress having gone through a horrible experience with our other cat at the other vet.We get to the vet and the technician goes over what happened and we were told that we needed to transport our cat to the emergency vet in San Ramon. Our cat was there for a couple days and she was finally sent home with three medications we had to administer. She is happy now but we are uncertain of the long term side effects since they had to flush out her liver. When we spoke to the clinic, their staff showed no empathy or apology, very authoritative demeanor from the front desk, and the veterinarian or anesthesiologist never spoke to us while at the clinic. It was a very disappointing and upsetting experience because not only did they expect us to transport our poor baby to the emergency vet in San Ramon but initially they were not willing to cover the spaying procedure. We had to explain to the tech why we didn’t think we it was right that they charged us for a procedure in which our cat was harmed. Their staff is unfriendly and shows no empathy. I would highly recommend and encourage that you think twice before your bring your beloved fur babies to this establishment.

DO NOT COME HERE TO BENEFIT YOUR PET:When I come here, every pet is always sick. Not just mine, but everyone I hear being helped is told the worse news and required to give a lot of money to help through this place or one of their joint businesses. My cat Shaggy came here and has been prescribed many shots and fluids. When we did this to him his mental health got worse and they informed us he only got sicker and has to get a 2-3k procedure done by another Vet that is joint in business with them. This group makes up fake illnesses, injects your pet with fluids to make them sicker, and try to keep you looped on a group of Vets all owned under the same group. If you love your pet, don’t take them to a place benefiting off the death of pets.

Never coming back. This place is a joke. - First appointment they over-charged me vs the price they had on my invoice. I had to call back later to get it sorted out, which was excruciating. - They also never told me, prior to appointment, that only one person can come in the building for each appointment. Both my partner and I came unnecessarily, so his time was wasted. - At the end, they never even gave me the results of one of the tests they ran on my cat, that I paid for. I had to go back inside and ask them. - A year later, they emailed me to say my cat was due for a vaccine. When I arrive to the appt, I asked if it was really due since I thought it was a 3 year shot (FVRCP). After the technician talked with the vet, the vet confirmed it's a 3-year shot and that my cat didn't need it. So I pretty much came in for nothing. - Fine, she doesn't need a shot, but they told me I still had a free exam over the phone (due to earlier mistakes)! However, they revoked it when they determined I had already used it months earlier (I didn't know this). I can't believe they wouldn't honor it after I came all the way in for a shot my cat ended up not needing. No respect of my time. I even overheard a technician tell a customer in the lobby certain shots were forgotten and have to take their pet back to the exam room a second time. No organization here, switching vets.

Found a dog and took him to Redwood animal hospital to be scanned for a microchip. They were friendly and helpful and I was able to reunite the pup with his family within hours! Thank you Redwood animal hospital!
