For a corporate chain, BevMo! is pretty good. They tend to have a decent selection, though my visit today was 0/3 on the items I was after. It used to be pretty nice in Chico but they seem to have abandoned the cheese!
Staff is usually pretty helpful. The beer selection is basically second to none in the area. Surprisingly, the liquor selection is where they're lacking as I found both of the items I was after in Orland at The Little liquor store on the east side of town. The wine selection is also awesome for those who like wine and several of the employees are great sommeliers.
If you're after a specific beer, absolutely check here first. Same with the wine. I think they need to bring back the cheese!

Tried to return some glasses purchased for a gift eleven days ago. They would not take because of their 7 day return policy for alcohol. At the same time a man who was at least 40 tried to buy some beer with his Canadian license. They wouldn’t accept that without a passport too. These two incidents were ridiculous. Staff didn’t even look like they were old enough to buy beer. I was with a friend and I can say that BevMo Just lost two customers along with anybody else I convince to never go there

I was at Bevmo Chico today at 4:55 pm. The cashier was on the phone when I got in line. She continued to go on and on about champagne with the caller. She admitted that she doesn’t really care for champagne so she probably shouldn’t be giving recommendations. She finally gave the very patient customer in front of me his change. She never looked at him or apologized for being on the phone. She continued to talk to the caller. I said “wow” to the couple in front of me as I noticed how disappointed they were with their service. When it was my turn to check out and she was still on the phone, I said “You need to put them on hold, it’s very rude and the guy in front of me was pissed.” Her reply was “well it sucks to be him”. I’ve always had very friendly service at BevMo so I wanted to let you know how my experience went today. Also, I didn’t see any other BevMo employees on the floor while I was there. Perhaps the cashier had no choice but to engage in a phone conversation ??

The store had a good selection at a really good price. They don't have the widest selection of hard to find/allocated whiskey/bourbon, however, they have the best prices that I saw when hunting for these bottles in Chico. The staff was also very friendly and didn't mind helping me when needed. I'd go back here again when in town.

I go in to buy cigars and my wife is with me. We are clearly old enough In our mid 30s! The cashier requested both of our IDs.. I asked why? She says they are the only company that group IDs!!!! So you are telling me if I went in there with my 14 year old son, you are not going to sell me the cigars??? I'd like to know what your ridiculous logic behind this is!???? My experience went from being calm and cool to just being bother and in bad mood.. I really wanted to argue the girls logic which made ZERO sense but sometimes it's best to let people have their power trip. And in addition I noticed they did have very high prices in their cigar selection which with just drive me to get online retail orders rather than going here... the liquor I wanted was more than half 35% priced than other retailers

I love shopping at this store. All the employees are always super helpful and friendly. I am just always impressed with the customer service at this location. It doesn’t hurt being located between Target and Big Lotts to get a day of much needed shopping done!!

Drove an HOUR to buy Mead. I am 45. I drove. They refused to sell me mead because my HUSBAND walked in w me and didn't have his ID. He had purchased there before and had an account, but that wasnt good enough. Said even if I come back later they won't sell to me w/his ID. So we will take our business elsewhere. Absolute stupidity and a great way to lose business to your competitors. Not to mention NO ONE THERE knew ANYTHING about scotch when we went there before xmas to buy gifts.
