I work there currently. It is true that everything is about a dollar more (or relatively less) than safeway, an expensive store already. Used to close at 7am-4pm because of pandemic, but now the hours are weekdays 7am-7pm except fridays. Which are reasonable hours for students, but still not the best compared to other universities. As an employee, I recommend for the price the Chili Lime Ramen Cup of Noodle(super good), the Red Yachak (like classic yerba mate but more caffeine, and they are slightly cheaper than reg yerba right now until management catches it lol), Chicken Pesto sandwich(kinda pricey but still the best fresh sandwich to me), Beef and cheese Tornado (really cheap and filling but not at all healthy), and the Sargento Sharp Cheese Stick (the flat one, cheap and the best cheese stick I ever had for some reason, sometimes they are a little room temp from sitting in the middle store fridge but still really good). Sometimes we get a bag of pickles in the mid fridge and if you’re a pickle fan these will blow your mind, don’t underestimate the Bag of Pickles. Some people complain that nothing is labeled for prices, and it is because it is too hard to label all the random stock we get as well as the prices keep changing. The prices changed 3 times in my 2 years working there. A good rule to go off of (for an actual meal not candy or a small snack) is that ramen is usually a dollar, frozen meals are about $6-10, chips are $2-4, chex mix type and snack packs are $2-$5.50 depending on quantity, beef jerky is about $6.50, and cheese is almost always under $2. The drinks except water are always gonna be almost $3-$5, and know that energy drinks there are very overpriced. This is if heavy inflation doesn’t make this post extremely dated. Of course I would recommend going to an actual grocery store to save money unless you have flex cash as a student. Happy little campus store and really successful! (because there really IS no other to go food store on chico’s campus).
