My son volunteered the summer preceding his senior year at PVHS , he learned a lot internally and enjoyed a refurbished computer when completing his hours. I am now 64 and have never been much in the technology comp stuff so I was just reading reviews as I was thinking about volunteering myself and learning a little ! Sometimes a smile and a kind word is all it takes to change perspective!

An organization without accountability. A bad tradeoff. Not the original management.Machines that have not been thoroughly screened before being sold. Deniers of obvious flaws in their machines. Accusers of those who dare call them out.If you are savvy with computers, you will be fine, but there is nothing special about the machines (not worth buying).Illegible, hand-written, donation-receipts.Exploits those desperate for a computer by exchanging it for 50+ hours of labor.Take your time, money, and volunteer-hours elsewhere.

Computers 4 Classrooms is a viable alternative for people who are not positioned to buy a new computer.Inexpensive offerings for "Students and, Seniors" are eligible to purchase. The staff is helpful, however, the selection is limited.

It would be wiser to purchase a used pc elsewhere.

I am so disappointed with Computers for Classrooms. It is a great idea for a nonprofit. It could help a lot of people. Unfortunately, it is being run into the ground by incompetence. The problem with relying on volunteers is that they become complacent, careless, and rude under the pretense of altruism. They take their payment in the form of making the needy feel like dirt. I just wish their behavior matched the original intention of their founder, Pat Furr.

I volunteered here a few summers ago because after 50 hours you get a free computer. I have no idea if the same people still work there but they treated me just fine. Pretty mind-numbing work, just taking computers apart all day. Cleaning the keyboards was pretty gross. I didn't end up finishing my hours but still seems like a good deal if you're willing to do 50 hours of super boring unskilled work. Looks good on a resume if you're a teenager trying to get experience, I guess. But there's better volunteer opportunities elsewhere. They do good work for the community, so you have to respect that at least.

My mom bought me a computer as a surprise, since my old computer was the property of my employer. She specifically told them it was to apply for jobs, work on a resume and take an excel class. She was assured it was ready and would work for those tasks. She was told it was a 2015 Mac Book Pro. Turns out it is a 2011 ( $200 price difference). It also does not have word or excel. Nice way to rip someone who is in need, completely off. Super disappointed and will be making a complaint to the BBB

I am so livid right now I wish I could post a NO STAR. In the past few weeks I have dropped off over $2000 worth of technology equipment to help high schools, and the person who took my equipment has to be the RUDEST, most ARROGANT person that I have come across at a non-profit organization. No "thank you" or no "thanks for helping us help teachers"...just an attitude that I have to sincerely say is...well, HATEFUL. I went in to the facility to talk to the manager and found out the person is Adam...my advice to this person is be courteous to those keeping you employed. I will never take anything there ever again, nor do I recommend this facility as a non-profit drop off.

They offer a great service to the community by both recycling electronics as well as offering computers to low income families at a deep discount. You can also earn a free computer system by volunteering your time.

If you're just looking to volunteer here and get credits that way, they're not bad. If, however, you're looking to buy ANYTHING from them, their prices are insanely high. I volunteered a few years ago and finished my 50 hours. That entitled me, according to their policy, to $200 of “credit†in their store, which meant that I could buy an older desktop or laptop. I was in college at the time, however, and needed something slightly better to handle the 3D modeling I did in scho
