“Before Basis, I was mildly physically uncomfortable on a daily basis. I had increased my hours at work, which meant more hours of sitting at a desk and my body didn’t like it. Mentally, I was ready to start prioritizing myself a little more, but didn’t really know how.
The biggest challenge was finding exercise that could fit into my life routinely so that I didn’t need to make a new plan each week. I knew the more mental load it took to make it happen, the less likely it was to happen, and the less likely it was to stick! It was also important to me that my routine wouldn’t affect my kids in a negative way. If it doesn’t work for my kids, it doesn’t work for me. Last, I have a history of back pain, so I needed to go somewhere that could help me with that rather than giving me exercises that could possibly make it worse. Basis coaches helped me with all of this.
The routine of going to Basis naturally made other parts of my week routine as well, which made life more efficient. So, even though it added several hours to my week, I would say I get more done.
Now, I have more energy and just generally feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally. I like the work I’m doing to meet my goals, and while I still want to meet them, I now feel like the journey is more important than the actual outcome. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and great teachers. It’s fun to take classes from each of them.
Now, I say yes to my kids more when they ask me to be their human jungle gym, want to play chase, or want to be held or carried. My four year old makes a great kettlebell, too! I’m proud to be doing something that’s just for me. I also appreciate that it allows me to be better in other aspects of life. I am always trying to get people to come play with me at Basis, I can’t think of a single person it wouldn’t benefit.”

“Studio Thirty Three is THAT girl. I love the classes, coaches, and community. I started going to the studio almost a year ago as a postpartum mama, even though I have a home gym. I needed something more to help me stay consistent and reach my goals — I’m so happy I went all in! Get a membership, you won’t regret it. ❤”
“Best gym in Northern California, possibly all of California, for those serious about getting bigger, faster, and stronger. Michael brings his vast knowledge of countless years working under Luie Simmons, an icon in the power lifting community, to his one on one coaching techniques. While being the best, he is also the most competitive with his prices. You will not get more bang for you buck anywhere else.”

“Creed Strength & Fitness isn’t just a gym—it’s a community.
After going through multiple leg surgeries (including Achilles lengthening), limited mobility, a stroke, and even lung cancer, I needed a trainer who truly understood the body. Taylor Catrett, the owner, was exactly what I needed.
He’s helped me stay active and strong with smart, safe modifications every step of the way. Taylor knew how to adapt each workout to fit my needs and encouraged me even when I didn’t think I could keep going.
With a Master's degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Strength & Conditioning and certifications like CSCS, USA Weightlifting Level I, and NASM Corrective Exercise, Taylor has the expertise to design effective programs for individuals with all kinds of physical challenges.
What makes Creed even more special is the atmosphere Taylor has created. My 5:30 am crew has become my gym family, always there to cheer each other on and celebrate every bit of progress.
If you’re in Chico and looking for a personalized, supportive training experience from someone who knows the body and genuinely cares about your progress, I can’t recommend Creed Strength & Fitness enough. Bonus, it’s veteran owned and operated!”

“I love Whole Body Fitness! This is my second time being a member (short time away during a move) and the holistic environment is top notch. Nicole Hanson is the best, most upbeat-at-6am trainer who works within your body's abilities but will simultaneously challenge and push you out of your comfort zone! Nicole's experience has really helped me work through and around back and hip pain over the last year while gaining strength to the point that I have minimal pain. Thanks, Nicole! I highly recommend Whole Body - it is worth the price tag!”

“Love the workouts and the people! Steve and Zane are always switching up the workouts to keep things interesting and focus on different movements and strengths. I really noticed a difference this ski season. I had a lot more in the tank to ski hard without the legs or lungs giving out. Come join the Core family it is great”

“UPCF is a fantastic community backed with knowledge and expert advice to help you succeed and reach your goals. If the standard program and classes are not enough (or to much) for you there are plenty of customization and equipment options. Chris goes above and beyond everyday promoting a safe and competitive environment.”
“The best decision of my adult life was to join Alpha Strong gym! There are many reasons to love this place but my top 3: the workouts are different every single day, you get training the entire time and it’s woman owned and woman run! The best way to start my day!”

“I trained with Zak at Physique Fitness in Chico for 2 years, and he is hands down the best trainer I’ve ever worked with. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely cares about his clients’ progress and overall health. Every session was tailored to my goals, and he always made sure I was challenged without risking injury. On top of that, his pricing is very fair compared to the quality of training and personal attention you receive. If you’re looking for a trainer who truly knows his stuff and wants to see you succeed, Zak is the one to go to!”
“Nice size gym for a smaller town. Plenty of seating for everyone, bleachers on one side with seat backs on the other side. They sell concessions at all ticketed sporting events. Only downsides are, limited parking depending on weekday or weekend event and there us no A/C inside the gym. There is A/C in the lobby, but unfortunately not in the gym itself. They have large swamp coolers inside the gym to circulate air.”

“We have been with Chico Cheer since Season 1, 20 years and counting! We cannot imagine being part of any other gym. Tiffany is incredibly dedicated to the program and the athletes, she is an expert in all things cheer and leads with passion. Every Chico Cheer coach is knowledgeable, well-trained, and an expert in their craft.
My daughters have received outstanding training not only in cheer, but also in important life skills like confidence, discipline, and teamwork. I am so grateful to have had both of my daughters grow up in this program. Chico Cheer has been home for our family for two decades, and we couldn’t recommend it more highly.”
“As a Chico State student, having access to the Wildcat Recreation Center, or WREC, is an absolute game-changer. It's not just a gym; it's a vibrant hub of activity and an invaluable resource that significantly enhances the student experience, especially since it's entirely free for enrolled students! This is a huge benefit, making health and wellness truly accessible to everyone on campus.
First and foremost, the WREC is consistently spotlessly clean. From the locker rooms (which even have dryers for your swimsuits, a thoughtful touch!) to the cardio machines and weight areas, the staff does an excellent job of maintaining a hygienic and welcoming environment. You rarely see equipment left unwiped, which speaks volumes about both the staff's dedication and the general respect students have for the facility.
Beyond its cleanliness, the sheer variety of activities and classes offered at the WREC is truly impressive. Whether you're into traditional weightlifting or cardio, you'll find top-of-the-line equipment. But it goes far beyond that. There are numerous group exercise classes, from high-energy spin and dance fitness to more calming yoga and Pilates sessions. They even have unique offerings like SUP Yoga and Log Rolling in their enormous pool! For those who prefer team sports, there are multiple basketball courts, a multi-purpose court, and intramural sports leagues. The three-story climbing wall and bouldering area are fantastic for adventure seekers, and the indoor running track provides a great option for any weather.
The WREC also offers things like personal training, aquatics programs, and even safety courses like CPR and First Aid. And if you're looking to explore the outdoors, their Adventure Outings program, based out of the WREC, offers everything from backpacking trips to equipment rentals.
In short, the WREC at Chico State is an exceptional facility. Its cleanliness, diverse range of activities and classes, and the fact that it's free for students make it an indispensable part of campus life. It's truly a fantastic resource that empowers students to stay active, reduce stress, and connect with their peers outside of the classroom.”

“This is in fact my most favorite gym with all the equipment and multiple workout areas. Sorry to say I can't fully give it 5 stars since I've been having to go to others gyms in chico since you guys aren't open 24hr anymore. Im at a point were I can't miss my workouts and have to go somewhere else several times these past few years. Please consider going back to 24hrs. Im already paying $130 monthly for myself and my son and its annoying that I still need to go to other gyms when your closed.”

“Dropped in for a class while visiting Chico! Elaina did a great job providing me with clear direction and a great modification while maintaining the stimulus of the WOD as I navigated an aggravated knee and hip. Great coaching, great people, awesome experience! Thank you Elaina and NRCF!!”
