Banfield, in and of itself, is like the 7-Eleven of veterinarians. Anything more than routine exams, teeth cleaning, or vaccinations and they cannot handle it, they outsource (my personal experience and opinion). Unfortunately there are few choices for good, reliable, and affordable veterinarian choices in the south bay. Their wellness programs pretty much cover the above, for everything else I have had to go elsewhere. Consider Banfield like a backup vet for routine services

I was a little bit weary bringing my cat to a chain vet. I should have followed my instinct. I guess my cat was angry which he usually isn't but I'm assuming that he sat waiting for a while which would definitely piss him off and the doctor couldn't even look at what his problem was. Not only did I get charged $80 for my cat to go there and sit for 4 hours they also tried to charge me for medication that I didn't even ask for. The only reason I found out that there was a charge about the medication is because I asked, the girl at the desk wasn't even going to tell me about it. She also talked entirely too fast and it felt kind of shady. I guess I'm just paying to find out that I'm not bringing my cat back here.

Rebecca Smith - manager is horrible and ive called for weeks with no response .....I'm beyond disappointed in the Eastlake location... I took my dog months ago reporting that he ate corn on the cob and had passed most but I felt that one was remaining and expressed concern. They took him for observation did absolutely nothing, prescribed some tummy ache meds for a couple days and told me to feed him chicken and rice. I was so happy that I had him checked out paid the $700- $800 visit. Months later he begins puking at 3am a yellow liquid, and before I could make him an appointment he just projectile vomited his dinner with an old corn on the cob included. My stomach sank with disappointment in Banfield.... I did everything I knew to do to care for him and Banfield was not there for us and this location is the sole reason I won't be renewing. I work for a large hospital system and had this been a human hospital... I would have been a whistle-blower for negligence, I am absolutely disgusted and don't want this to happen again to others. I am not the only review like this on yelp and this location needs to be investigated if there practice doesn't reflect corporates core values.

Weeks later called multiple times still no call back.......Paid $800 for them to tell me my dog needs chicken and rice for dinner. Months later my dog puked up what I took him in for. I'm disappointed in this location and had this been a human hospital they would have been reported for negligence. I will not be renewing the plan .... if they can't be consistent with all locations absolutely no point in buying a plan.

I am fed up with Banfield. While I like his vet, the administration is a nightmare. My dog was re-homed to me two years ago. The owner had a Banfield plan. The owner and I went into Banfield and asked to transfer the account to me. I wanted to keep it because the dog has had a Banfield plan since the day he was born and they have all his medical and vaccine records. We were told that the account could not be tranferred and that we would have to wait until her contract expired before I could take over the plan. I gave them my payment information so that the plan could continue uninterrupted when her contract expired. When her contract expired, instead of transferring the account to me, they cancelled the plan and created a new one for me. That account is completely empty with no records at all. I called to try and straighten it out and they are still refusing to put me on the account with all the medical records. The dog has been with me for two years and it is not straightened out yet. I hate this company. Avoid it if you can.

Fabulous! They treat my fur babies like family. They welcome them by name, give them lots of love while providing top notch care and always follow up on them. They work with me to accommodate whatever situation and schedule I need. I highly recommend Banfield in Eastlake.

Vet took the time to quell any anxiety I had about boarding and assured me she was nice and healthy. Staff was great!

Not a bad experience so far as compared to the others. The only thing is sometimes no one picks up the phone when I call and that happened several times. However, everything else is pretty good in my opinion.

Worst vet clinic in San Diego and I have been to many. The receptionist was very rude to me after checking my dog in late. Charged me a lot of money and did nothing to help my dog. This clinic actually deserves a 0/5 stars.

I was a bit hesitant taking my puppy here for the first time because of all the bad reviews I read, but I gave this place the benefit of the doubt and tried it anyways. I am happy I did try it because I was not disappointed with the two visits I took my pup to. The front desk is extremely accommodating with appointments and they are super busy with pets coming in and out of the location for a variety of services (good sign when your vet is busy). The staff is empathetic to pets needs as well as I witnessed. I took my pup here for the first time on a same day appointment because I discovered she had fleas. The veterinarian was able to provide her with great medication for the current issue and preventative care. The second appointment I took her to she got microchipped and vaccinated. The staff has been excellent with answering all my questions and caring for my pup. We did purchase health insurance and preventative care outside of Banfield and it has been extremely helpful but their wellness plans, although a bit out of my budget at the moment, look fantastic and do save you a lot of cash in the long run. I could see why people would be upset in the case of an emergency with their beloved pet, veterinary care can be extremely expensive and if your not ready for it the prices seem even more outrageous in such a critical time. They do advise you at Banfield that their wellness plans are not insurance so if you are wondering what to do, if you can afford it, get a preventative care plan and an insurance plan on your beloved pet... or just and insurance plan and be prepared for out of pocket preventive care. There are places that offer services for preventative care at a lower more affordable rate. Overall, I'm not sure why this place has the rating that it does. I don't believe the rating is an accurate reflection on the services this place offers.

Banfield has been great to both of my pups. They've done tests, teeth cleaning and check ups. We just made a difficult decision to lay our 14 year old beloved pup Cosmo to rest due to heart problems. Dr. Terry and Dr. Estrella were so kind throughout the whole process. They were supportive, communicated everything in detail, offered comfort, space, and time. Out of an extremely difficult decision it makes a worlds difference receiving compassionate care where you really feel the care of the providers. Thank you for helping my family and I through this challenging time.
