I’ve been a loyal member at Orange Theory Fitness Eastlake for several years now. The combination of a supportive staff, engaging workouts, and a strong sense of community truly stands out. It’s evident that group fitness, especially High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), is not only popular but backed by extensive research for its effectiveness in fitness. The unique color-coded exertion levels—green, orange, and red—allow for a personalized workout experience, catering to one’s pace and intensity. The dedication of the front desk staff and coaches in providing support is remarkable, further enhancing the inclusive community vibe that’s rare in other fitness studios or gyms. While there are many positives, like community, staff and effectiveness of workout ; there are also areas for improvement. The franchise model under a central governing body sometimes limits the incorporation of member feedback into the workout protocols.Specific points of concern include:1. Expanding the 2G Class Format: Previously, coaches could adjust to accommodate more than 34 members based on demand, but this flexibility has been restricted, leading to waitlists and limited access during peak hours. This is compounded by New years resolutions and OTF transformaiton challenge (members pays $35 for weight and body compostion analysis during an week period. During the Transformation challenge members are expected to attend 3 classes a week.2. Equipment Maintenance: With only one regional maintenance person, the upkeep of equipment like rowers and treadmills suffers, affecting usability. Even basics like ensuring cool water from the water machine, which has been dispensing warm water for months, are overlooked.3. Studio Cleanliness: Despite the staff’s efforts, the cleaning schedule does not keep up with high usage, and a professional cleaning service could improve the situation to perform regular deep cleaning.4. Member Feedback and Service: Although feedback is collected, it often seems neglected, with little action taken on issues raised by members. A more proactive approach and an additional forum for the leadership team to address and respond to member concerns would be beneficial. Members want to be heard and their concerned acknowledged and addresed.Orange Theory Fitness Eastlake is more than just a gym—it’s a community where staff and members alike invest their hearts and souls, creating a familial atmosphere. Like any organization, there are challenges, especially in maintaining a close connection with the community from a distance. As the southernmost studio, addressing these issues could elevate our experience to one of the premier fitness offerings in the Southbay.

I absolutely love this gym. I’ve felt such a change in my body since I’ve been coming here. I’ve never enjoyed going to the gym so much, when you see results it’s all worthwhile. The coaches in fact all the staff are friendly and encouraging. Thank you OTF!

This gym is great for making up your workouts and pushing you to do them. Coaches are amazing. The downside is that if you work graveyard shifts this probably won't work for you. It was always really hard for me to make their times. If I was 30 seconds past the 5 minutes to show up I would still not be allowed in. I tried OTF in Dallas and loved the 8pm class. Unfortunately this location only goes up until 6:30pm. I was told to go to La Mesa instead. Great suggestion except I'm not gonna drive 30 minutes to make it to the 8pm class. I've tried different gyms as I move around a lot and this gym requires A LOT to cancel. A simple phone call will not do it. I understand policy but damn. I will say I felt great after every class. Prob not the gym for you if you are super busy and need flexibility.

Joining OTF and attending classes at Eastlake has been one of the best decisions I’d made for both my mental and physical health. The support and direction that I receive had been paramount to the improvements I’ve seen in my health. Coach Michelle’s and Coach Lauren’s endless encouragement has motivated me through many workouts that I didn’t think I could complete. I appreciate that all the coaches are there to help with modifications and correct form and do so in a way that doesn’t make me feel like a burden or that I’m hindering the group.

If you're new to fitness or have been doing this all your life, give them a try. They gave a free session to give you a feel for the workout. If you need help with accountability, this type of gym might help.

OTF is a great way to get 60 min workout done in a supportive group environment! Treadmill, rowing machines and strength training! New workout each day!

Worst experience ever! Very difficult to check the place out. I came the day before filled out all my paperwork put my card on file then showed up the next day on time but since I didn’t show up early enough for a tour I couldn’t take the class because they wanted me to come three days in a row to try this place. Very poor sales tactics. Poorly managerd by Kenya. FYI they charge a fee to your card if you don’t show up for a class on top of your monthly payment. Definitely not a place for someone trying to accomplish their fitness goals. If your a male don’t go here you will get discriminated.

I love OT and all the coaches, but some of the people at the front desk are a bunch of mean girls. (One in particular, but I don’t know her name or else I’d call her out). Always rude and can rarely ever answer my questions.Edit: almost tempted to drop another star for being charged TWICE for a drop in class, even though I spoke to Natalie on the phone early in the morning that day telling her I paid through the app and the class didn’t show up in my booked classes. Just another example of the frustrations with the front desk.
