Do not recommend unless you have 50k sitting around. They will try to tell you a new car needs brakes and fluids even after coming out of the factory. Can’t even tell you what the problem is without getting 5k just to look over the car. No honest workers there. Guess Alex just needs money for that Orange Lambo….

This place is great if you're either A) chinese, or B) really wealthy.
I went into this place to talk to the owner about working on my MR2 per someones recommendation. City of Industry is near nothing that matters so the drive was pretty painful. After a 20 minute wait, I got to talk to the head honcho who essentially blew me off. His and his staffs arrogant front should have been enough for me to walk out but against my better judgement, I had the guy rebuild my MR2's turbo.
Long story short, got the turbo back, installed it and had issues almost from the start. Had to pull it out the same week i got it back and had to take it back to SP and convince them to re-re-build it. Almost a year to the day later, the turbo started acting up again and I ultimately had to pull it and replace it with a Greddy.
Bottom line, my experience with this place was horrible. The poor work is one thing but the obnoxious arrogance and worthless customer service is intolerable. They should simply have a sign out front that says if your budget is under 20K, you are not welcome. If you are lucky enough to be able to spend that much, then I imagine you might be treated with a bit more respect. You'll also do better if you're Chinese or have a Chinese friend as all others are looked treated with a bit less...care.

My friend's dad was selling his low mileage, 1 owner 2009 GT-R, and needed a favor to park it at my house "for a while." I was allowed to drive it. Eventually, I began to fall in love with it. The power, the handling, the praise from fanboys whenever encountered. I really wanted this car.
I researched and read on the GT-R Owners Forum that S P Engineering was a GT-R specialist. Even their website showed "Turbo Alex" with Jay Leno. So far, all good.
I made an appointment for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) via their email and website. When you call their tel#, the outgoing message will tell you to email them, so don't expect to speak with live person. "If you can't email or access their website, you aren't a good fit as an S P Engineering clientelle."
I dropped off the car before they open at 9am, but had to wait for their gates to open. The young man, Clemente slightly late, but very apologetic and courteous. Hey, it's LA traffic. He took my key and said Alex will reach out to me when the PPI was done. The PPI should take about 4 hours.
When I returned, Alex greeted me at door. He was so cool. Nice tats, cool guy. Non-assuming. I wish we could switch careers. What a cool job to work on GT-Rs, Porsches, Lamborghinis and Audi R8 (V10 lambo engines.)
HONEST ASSESSMENT: Because Alex and Clemente are GT-R specialists they gave me an honest and thorough assessment. It was not the report that I was hoping for. They photographed the damages and gave me recommendations of what servicing and repairs needed to be done. Not including the paint job, the service and parts estimate were about $18k total. So what I thought was good deal on a low mileage, carefully maintained GT-R, was actually, a lonely and neglected GT-R, needing a lot of TLC and money. Like an abandoned stepchild.
So its a hard pass in this 2009 Premium. In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't spend $60k on car that needed another $18k to bring it to its glory and potential. Thanks Alex for the "tough love" and honest assessment. Now let's look for a good, late model 911 Carrera GTS, or 2017+ GT-R Nismo (wink.)

Masters of their craft, SP Engineering is the place you want to take your GTR if you want it built by people that care about doing things the right way. I've been a customer here for almost a decade and highly recommend their shop.

I bought a full exhaust system for my car for 4100$ and got a message that the exhaust system is 6900$ + 500$ posting. That can't be a mistake because I was looking at the exhaust system for a week EDIT, I just got a bill for 2490€ but I didn't even get a receipt or a confirmation of the purchase the first time I have had a pretty bad experience for now, I bought a exhaust system for my gtr and now they demand 2490€ more, I bought it for the 4100€ price so I will get it for that price disclaimer, I'm from finland so thats why there might be a few misspels

I ordered an AWE front mount intercooler through SP in October 2022 because the price was tough to beat. They accepted my money immediately and yes, I am aware that the AWE units are made to order and take time to process (6-8 weeks). As it got closer to Christmas 2022, I asked to get a status update. I got an email back that they had lost the order and offered to process it right then or refund my money. I opted to have them refund my purchase. It's now February 2023 and have not heard back from them regarding my refund. I tried forwarding my concerns to every email I could find listed on their website, as the phone number is an automated message that says to go visit the website for email support. I don't feel like I have many other options at this point, but perhaps a bad review will force someone to finally reach out.

I originally had 5 stars since they were great in the beginning when they installed my SP700 package. Now one year later, I wanted to switch for Cobb to EcuTek. I could not get a hold of David or anyone at the shop, note I live out of state. This was in a span of 2 months. I emailed and left voice messages and still no answer. It took a friend who knows Alex to get an answer. So I got fed up and had RD Engineering switch my cobb unit and they re-tuned my car. Ronnie and Raegan provided excellent customer service.

I had a great experience with SP Engineering. My GT-R needed new brakes, rotors and an oil change. David and his team did great. They updated me when parts arrived, when they were working on the car and when it was ready for pick up. I am very picky with my car and SP Engineering made me feel like I had nothing to worry about. Thank you again David and the SP Engineering Team!

I was referred by my friend Alan to take my car in to SP Engineering and I purchased the SPE700 package for my 15 GTR. I have to say that I had a GREAT customer experience. When I dropped off the car I was greeted by David and Alex. Alex was nice enough to give me a tour of his shop and show me what projects he has going on. David kept me informed with photos on the status of my car. He also managed to secure the injectors which were on backorder from the manufacturer. If he hadn't secured them then I would have to wait 3-4 weeks to get my car back. About a little over a week later the car was ready. Alex was there and he sat down with me in my car and told me the do and don'ts, what the buttons do, and gave me information on maintaining an E85 ran car. The only complaint that I have is that they are about 250 miles away from where I live. But overall, Alex and David are real nice guys, very professional and very knowledgeable of the GTR platform. I'll definitely go back to them to do all my maintenance and maybe future upgrades.

THE GT-R experts. David helped me remotely address several issues with a car that was coming out of long-term storage with fuel that was stale for 18 months. Drained all of the fuel the most effective way (underneath rear seats) and ensured the car ran smoothly with no CEL/Codes. Will be going to them for scheduled maintenance again. I have been to auto shops where their knowledge and expertise translates to arrogance and bad customer service. My car is 100% stock but was treated with the utmost respect and all of my questions were promptly answered. Thank you David and Team!
