I've been coming to this location for years and they have always taken care of me. This location was on the way home so I'd stop by after work. Since I work from home now, I've also started going to Empire and found out they are the same owner.
Both stores are great so I bounce between them when I need a cut. This last time, Brooke cut my hair and listened to me tell her about my son and his life. I always look forward to getting a buzz and chatting with the stylists. They all do a great job!

Tammy, the hairstylist is first class in every aspect of the word. She does an amazing job and is so kind and greeting and thankful that you even came in. She is a great representative of your brand..

This was a horrible experience! I paid $65 and I was extremely disappointed with the results. They claimed to know how to work with curly hair and they definitely don’t know how to work with curly hair. They could have said we can’t serve you and let me go.

Great job, Tammy! Thank you! I went in for a "trim" after six months. I hadn't been here before, but Tammy really listened, and I got a great haircut. I had cut my bangs a couple of months ago, but she fixed it, and actually made it more flattering than I thought was possible. Well worth it! I hope to be back even though I live hours away.

BEWARE of this "barber" at Great Clips location:- 5435-G Clayton Rd, Clayton, CA 94517- "Barber" : ASHLEY A.I come to this location regularly and NEVER had an experience like this.As another reviewer stated below about ASHLEY A., she will get VERY aggressive if you ask her for a fix. She will NOT ask you if you are satisfied with it, but instead be very offended by it, and increase the pressure of the clipper against my scalp and the speed of cutting my hair with no regard for quality. I just asked to raise the fade on the sides and she literally just shaved one side of my head. Then I had to ask to do it to the other side to make it even... She ALWAYS had a nasty grin on her face, and kept trying to take the cape off to end the haircut, even though half my head was shaved! Now I don't mind when the haircut is a bit off, but attitude goes a long way, and that kind of attitude is intolerable to a customer.I won't get a haircut from her again!!

My partner has been coming here for a long time since it’s his home store. Today we got Ashley as the stylist and it didn’t go ideally. He wasn’t asked if he wanted round or square in the back which is a usual question he gets asked. She chose to do what she wanted and square it off which isn’t what he likes and the line is crooked in the back. Not only that but she rushed it and was aggressive with the haircut. There was a moment where she had pulled his hair because the comb and clippers got stuck on each other. It wasn’t ideal overall, the place wasn’t busy and people were nice but we hope for someone different next time.

My recent visit to this salon left me thoroughly dissatisfied, especially due to the unfortunate encounter with a stylist named Jim. As someone with long hair accustomed to a simple blunt cut with face framing layers, I was shocked by the outcome. This establishment seemed more akin to a barber shop than a reputable hair salon, and to my dismay, I discovered that the workers did not possess authentic cosmetology licenses.
I generally alternate between my regular stylist for yearly color and cuts and more budget-friendly options like Supercuts or Great Clips for simpler maintenance cuts. However, this time, I decided to give Great Clips a try. Jim, the stylist assigned to me, completely butchered my hair. The front layers were uneven and choppy, a stark departure from the clean and straightforward cut I had been accustomed to for the past 15 years.
As Jim continued cutting, I could sense that something was amiss. I shook out my hair to assess the progress, only to find it exceptionally choppy and uneven. It was perplexing how a seemingly straightforward cut could go so wrong. When I expressed my concerns and requested another stylist, the one working next to me insisted that Jim finish the cut as other stylists had their own clients.
Regrettably, Jim proceeded to take even more off, exacerbating the choppiness and lack of blending. Frustrated, I asked him to stop, and that's when the stylist next to me, who seemed to be the salon's owner, intervened and begged for another stylist to rectify the situation. Shih Pei-Chen took over and did her best to salvage the cut, but the damage had already been done.
Throughout the ordeal, the salon staff offered weak explanations, attributing the choppy result to the thinness of my hair and the presence of highlights. However, having maintained the same cut for 15 years without incident, I found these justifications unconvincing.
To compound my dissatisfaction, a closer inspection of Jim's purported cosmetology license revealed what appeared to be a handwritten inscription on a glass frame. This raised serious doubts about the authenticity of his qualifications, adding another layer of disappointment to the overall experience.
In the end, the owner extended an offer to fix the cut, but the trust was shattered, and I declined. My advice to others, particularly those with long hair seeking a reliable cut, would be to steer clear of this salon and opt for establishments with more established reputations and qualified stylists

The gals at the Clayton Station location are always quite warm and inviting. They all take the time to listen to what the customer wants and provide excellent service.
