This place is hit and miss. This review is solely about the store, not the employees. I think the employees do the best they can with what they have!
Sometimes it's busy, sometimes it's slow. But the cash registers, NOT the people are horrendously slow ALL the time. Your checking area setup is not conducive to getting the heck out of there when you're done. I've waited 30 minutes in line. Very, very frustrating.
How can employees handle all those items in 24 inches of space? And since you've changed the set-up, there are even less options. One register sits there completely closed at all times. There is one register open, and if you're lucky another person may come up and check you out on what used to be, the self-service line. Ridiculous. That register area has zero space and the attendant was lining packed bags ON THE FLOOR! Disgusting. Have you seen your floors?
Merchandise & prices are relatively good. Why don't you work on getting the people out, not just in???

Good store for just about anything. Staff is friendly and helpful. It can get busy with only one checkout line.

There are two employees at this establishment that are extremely rude. My most recent trip here an employee walk by me and mumbled under her breath can you move. Definitely was not in anyone’s way. Also there was an incident outside with another customer and she was storming around the store talking badly about customers coming and going saying things to another employee checking my family out in front of my children. Some people are not made for customer service. I visit this establishment sometimes multiple times a week. I’m thinking spending my money elsewhere will be a better alternative. Employees of colfax dollar general DO BETTER!

Cashiers suck here, they took out self check out, waited about 10 mins for a cashier to finish a conversation with the only customer in line until I gave up and just went to marval. Disappointing because I used to love this Dollar general.

Your remodel was a blazing stinko! PeoPLE they got rid of people and replaced them with self-check... If I wanted to check myself out and hassle with those crummy machines I would have stayed in the Grocery Union. The line today Jan 17, 2023 had many people in while stockers/manager ran all over and took breaks outside even walked right by the line to get outside to hang out with each other. The lady that had been on the floor at 9 amish finally came along and asked if anyone was using a card most people weren't but I was... she checked me out coldly no a smile or a hi or kiss my you know what and then barely could mutter a unsmiling thank you. They raised all their prices to cover their remodel and now the same as Holiday:(((( They took out 3 check stands that had people working at them and now only have 1 living Person checking out. The line is always long. The lady who was running the 1 "REAL" check stand was very friendly to everyone not like the others wandering around putting this and that here and there while the line grew and grew.
