Yeah as someone who's been to many Ranch 99 locations (Hostetter, Oakridge, Milpitas, Cupertino Village, El Cerrito, Warm Springs, Newark, etc...), this might be the worst Ranch 99 I've been to. Granted, it's still a solid Asian supermarket, it's just slightly worse than the other Ranch 99s I've been to. First, the selection here seems slightly smaller overall than most Ranch 99s. I came here once with my friends from college, and we couldn't find everything we needed for our Hot Pot party, so we needed to go to the El Cerrito Ranch 99 after. Second, the food court and deli is worse here. The deli meats like roast duck and BBQ pork is somehow not that authentic. Something tastes off about the meats here. The quality of the self-serve hot food is also slightly worse overall. Also, one of the entrances to the store is sealed off, so you're funneled through a single tight entrance for people coming in and out. There's a security guard welcoming you in right by the entrance, so they must encounter a lot of crime here. Unlucky. Looking back, this is still a serviceable Asian supermarket if you're in the area. All I'm saying is I've been to better.

Staff was super helpful with helping me find everything I needed. They have a great selection of fresh and packaged Asian food. This market is good sized, somewhat organized, affordable and busy. I live in Oakley so I do wish it was closer but what can you do! Like most Asian markets it has a fresh seafood area and there's an aroma to be sure. It looks like you can buy and have them fry the fish on site which I love the idea of. I'll have to go back and check it out.

be very careful in the seafood section. One of the older workers asked to help me, I asked if they had lobster tails, and he gave me two live crabs. I said No! Lobster- and pointed to the lobster. He grabbed one and then showed me his knife and asked me if he wanted me to cut pointing to the tail and I said yes that he was just going to cut the tail away from the body. Turns out he chopped the whole thing up, it was pretty much useless when I got home and a waste of $26. I'll be very very careful next time to watch more closely.

When did 99 Ranch Market become so expensive? I know there has been serious inflation over the past few months/years but $6 a pound for ground pork, sriracha sauce for $3 more than other Asian stores, etc. Maybe I'm wrong but I always thought of this chain to be on the affordable side with a semi-chaotic merchandising and stocking style. Well 99 Ranch is still the latter, slightly chaotic but affordable it is not.

One of our favorite stores for Asian groceries and fresh produce. Really good deals on fish in certain days. Obviously, buy American food such as milk, cereals at Target or Safeway. Always here because my wife cooks a lot and they have the best ingredients and a decent food court.

I just experienced the worst encounter with a security person while shopping for my dinner. I felt violated and discriminated. The way this black security person was looking at me while I was looking for a product like I was stealing and that is not OK! I did feel like someone was looking at me. As an employee at Safeway. It is the most disrespectful way to treat a customer while they're shopping. I am a 23 year old Asian woman. I have mentioned this to 2 employees there about this situation and I felt like they didn't take it seriously.

I like the variety of dark leafy green veggies that I can't find in my other local grocery stores. Seems like they keep those veggies fresh by keeping the whole place like a fridge. Didn't Mark Twain once write something like "The coldest winter I ever spent was a shopping trip at 99 ranch."?
