Had issue with my front wheel - was not safe driving especially over 50mph. They were able to fit me in same day I called and identified the issue and had it repaired all in same day. Awesome Staff will for sure be coming back for all work needed.

The story goes - Driving on the freeway last weekend and I heard a humming noise in the rear driver-side of our car.
I encountered a similar noise on my other car a couple of years ago and had a wheel bearing replaced.
I researched online when I got home, and most arrows pointed towards the wheel bearing as well.
On Monday, 11/18/24, I looked online for the nearest shops in our area and found another shop and Clayton Valley Auto Service.
I actually called the other shop first, but I didn't like the convo over the phone.
I called CVAS right after and spoke to Keely. She was very helpful over the phone and was able to squeeze me in for the day after.
I dropped off the car on Tuesday morning, 11/19/24. I spoke to Harold when I got there and told him what I suspected the issue was.
Harold told me he would check it out and give me a call.
A couple of hours later, Harold called me and told me they checked the wheel bearing and there was nothing wrong with it. He also explained that after further investigation, they found the rear tires are worn and suspected that it could be the issue. They switched both rear tires to the front and confirmed their suspicion.
Harold recommended I change the tires and told me that he is not charging me for their diagnosis.
I felt kind of bad about the situation as they spent time trying to figure out what was wrong with the car. I remembered my wife telling me before that the brakes were noisy, so I asked Harold if they could check the brakes and replace them instead.
I followed up with Harold over the phone around 3 pm. He told me the brakes were still good and that replacing them now would be a waste of $$$. He told me I could pick up the car anytime before 5 pm.
When my wife and I arrived at his shop, he provided additional info about the tires being worn out and adamantly recommended we replace the tires.
He handed us the key to our car. I asked him if he could charge me at least an hour worth of shop time, and he refused to do so.
I felt bad I was unable to give them any business, and while at the same time, they spent their own time investigating what was wrong with the car.
I never expected to be shooed away and not pay anything. But at the same time, it was pretty cool to still find businesses such as Clayton Valley Auto Shop, who are honest and have integrity.
The next time I run into an issue with our cars, I now know where to bring them.

This service should not be tolerated in our community. Clayton Valley Auto Service will bully you if you have any brains and most likely rip you off if you have no clue what you are doing. Bad business here, really pisses me off, I also feared for my safety.

I brought my vehicle to another mechanic in Martinez for a heating issue. I was told that I need to replace the heater core, a $2000 job. A good friend of mine referred me to Harold. I’m glad I took his advice and saved me a good chunk of change. They were through about diagnosing the root of the heating problem. Not like the other mechanic in Martinez. I’m surely be taking my vehicles here. Did I mention, these guys are honest and knowledgeable. That’s what important. Thank you Harold and your crew.
