I had both positive and negative experience with this location. I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday and they misspelled her name on a cake. I was told they could redo it but I needed to come back the following day. We needed the cake right away so that wasn't an option. They tried to correct it but in result it was not that great bc it ended to be a little smudged. Of course I was frustrated and asked for some type of discount. I was expecting 15-20% off BUT the guy said I will give this to you free bc of our mistake! Wow, what a service.

Kudos to Managers Michelle, John and new incoming Manager Laura/Lauren(?) at our local Safeway! They all were able to kindly rectify a situation that had a great outcome! As always, this location's employees are kind and friendly people! Been going there since '92! They'll take good care of you!

Changing my review from 4 star to a full 5 star. I had some problem with my online order, so I decided to stop by the store to ask for a customer service help. A lady named Megan helped us at the Customer Service counter after seeing us standing there - it was today (12/14/2021) at 5:30 pm. She was extremely helpful and friendly, and was very patient when helping us with our situation. I was extremely pleased with the level of professionalism that Megan provided us with. She was able to resolve our issue, and we were really thankful. Because of that, my perception of this Safeway has changed tremendously for the better. I had always liked it anyway, but this experience has definitely made it even better.

Let me start off by saying I very rarely if practically ever spend my precious time writing a review. That is unless the service or product in question is completely unacceptable, even to a completely laid back man as myself. Outside Safeway right now, on the Yelp app, I first noticed this Safeway has a rather stellar review star count of 2 out of 5, so that also helped me choose to write this review, as I must help with there average review count! So I drive down to Safeway tonight to return a Tri-Tip that my wife purchased a few days back. When starting the BBQ up this evening and preparing to cook this rather tasty looking piece of meat, I luckily noticed in small print on the side this piece of meat is best consumed by 10/5/21. Ok, only 1 day late, I think well slide by without any gastrointestinal issues, Ill just keep it to myself should my wife get sick tonight, right? Don't want to set myself up for a fight with failure imminent. Then I stopped dead in my tracks, pulled out my iPhone and asked good old Alexa what the date was. November 6, 2021. Oh my God this piece of meat was over a month past the eaten by date! Thank God, I didn't accidentally hastily throw her on the grill as I usually do! So, dinner ruined first complaint! I decided to drive down to Safeway tonight although my wife told me she would return the meat tomorrow, but I wanted to make sure they realized the danger of such a mistake and I hoped they would be rather grateful I caught such a issue tonight before the BBQ ensued instead of tomorrow night after spending 24 hours over the toilet with searing pain ripping through our stomachs for so long, we had still not received any sleep, and I would have been in a much different mood than tonight. Sorry for the length of my review but I felt the story needed to be told in its entirety! So I picked up a few items to purchase and went to the register. The cashier, was rather friendly and helpful and immediately started the return. Let me interrupt this story to admit I made a mistake I have never done before, I left my entire wallet at my house with the receipt tucked nicely inside the pocket. So the cashier returned the meat and rang up the items I was purchasing. The return was to be in the $17 range, and I prayed they would do it without me going all the way home to fetch the receipt. Especially considering the severity of their mistake in having month old meat out on there shelves! Luckily, the lady cashier made no bid deal out of the situation and nearly finished the transaction when a rather small gentlemen darted out from what I could only imagine was his little elf house in the tree outside Safeway. He had obviously garnered some seniority over the cashier as I believe she was brand new. The little gentleman had a rather accusatory tone and a large smile as he immediately denied the return! He tossed the meat back and forth in his rather smallish child like hands and asked the most brilliant question that stopped me dead in my tracks. If I weren't a savant myself (JK) and had stolen this meat as it seemed was the conclusion he was coming to, this would have most definitely been the end of the tracks for my string of grocery store spoiled meat robberies. He asked me "Why on earth the meat was cold" with a sense of bewilderment in his eyes, yet he knew even though he didn't know the answer to this brilliant question either, that one way or another it would flush out the truth about the suspected robbery! Then I shocked him with the perfect answer. I told him at my house in this day and age we have a refrigerator and we put meat and other products in there to keep them fresh! He had been outsmarted by his suspect and the game was over, he had no other brilliant questions or tactics up his sleeves to get me to admit my major crimes! He just refused the return again and scattered away to his little elf home! Now, I am back at home about to drive all the way back to the store to once again return the meat. I should also note he tried to keep the meat until I get back, of w

I write this crappy review and I would like to say that I am an expert on this Safeway as is the closest one to my home. The store is a complete let down. You can guarantee them to be completely out and in absolute disarray shitshow MESS of things like coffee creamer, bread, cheese at 10 in the morning. I don't know why this location always smells like piss like they can't afford a power wash for their front steps for their patrons. I just literally left the store with an empty shopping cart and a huge grocery list because my first three essential items we're not on the shelves! Because I absolutely have time to run all over to various Safeway's for some f****** bread. Grrrrr. Just Safeway is the absolute worst. Early in the morning you're tripping over employees and pallets and piles and crap all over the floor but you can guarantee you damn well will not get what you went there for.

I went there only for one thing and that was the cheap Chinese food. I am pretty upset that it is in buffet form now Instead of them serving it to you. That is disgusting little kids, even grown a** adults can put their fingers in it and contaminate it ESPECIALLY during these times having to worry about getting covid at your local safeway from Chinese food really got me in a bad mood. Corona Chinese food? No thank you.

during this pandemic I've had both bad and good experiences with Safeway. today I walked in and started looking for hand sanitizeR. They are usually by the door. I looked on the application table. None. People are touching applications to apply for jobs. by the door? None. By the customer service counter? Nothing. by the florist? None. There was a florist there who was kind enough to give me some. is this a sign that all customers do not need to come in with germ free hands? I thought the Delta variant is highly contagious and we still need to continue with all necessary precautions. I'm not shaming Safeway but just asking where all the hand sanitizers are located. when I walked bythe pharmacy i did not see any sanitizers. Does Safeway still have them for customers?

It's my local Safeway and I don't really like coming here. I have on two separate occasions purchased meat here that was spoiled. I did contact the manager and they refunded me my money. I believe the meat is piled too high in some areas and it keeps the meat from staying cold. The veggie and fruit section always look nice!

Made an online order for corned beef, cottage cheese and wine. Next day, day of the delivery, in an email they notified me that they were out of stock for the corned beef. When the order arrived later in the day - now there was no wine and the delivery person said it was out of stock, too. I contacted Safeway Chat and I was told that the wine was not out of stock because I hadn't been given a credit - it just went on the wrong truck. I agreed to reschedule the wine for delivery the next day in a two hour window. I came away from this experience spending time waiting for the delivery, only to be told that the beef and the wine were never to where to be found. Your time waiting can add up, but Safeway doesn't seem to care. At this rate, I know it will be a long time before I use the online service again.

I was recently hired as a delivery driver. I was very excited to start my new position. In fact I turned down other jobs anticipating a new start with Safeway. Within a few weeks things went downhill. For one the communication from management to employee is unprofessional and non existent. During training I was instructed to text two supervisors Abbey and Stephan. I was instructed to text them to receive instructions on my first day. No response. Two days before my start date I text Stephan again and nothing. I arrive on my start date ready to work and learn. No one acknowledged me. Employees seemed to be doing their own thing. I stood around for two hours with no instruction.while standing around I called corporate to see if someone may have forgotten about me. Low and behold Abbey and Stephan failed to set me up for training. One employee offered as much help as he could. He stated it's typical that both Abbey and Stephan usually don't respond or respond weeks (even months) later. Not a good start. I was told to clock out and come back later. Later that day I was paired with another vet driver. No one told me that due to COVID employees are to drive their own car during training. I found out by other employees. I was placed on covid leave for 10 days. Instead of Abbey having some form of concern all she was worried about was if I planned on returning to work. Once back at work I figured the communication would get better. Stephan made an effort however, you could tell he was not use to speaking or engaging with his drivers. It seemed as tho his presence was rare maybe even nonexistent. What pushed me overboard is when I was given an order to deliver deep in the hills of Clayton. As a new driver someone should have explained that there would be no service in the area. The only way to get service is to go back 20 minutes into town. Crazy! So if I were to break down or in need of help there would be no way to call for help. The next day I receive a call from a store employee asking about the delivery in the hills. I explain that it was my first day alone, it's obvious no one knows how to communicate and again no one explained where I would be going service is nonexistent. I began to hear the same I'm sorry if I knew story line. For me communication is important. I need to know that if I need assistance (as an employee) managers are there. If something happens to where it's an emergency I can't wait a month for Abbey or Stefan to respond. Both Abbey an Stefan should be replaced. Companies fail when your eager to fill a position rather than find qualified managers. Both are a bad representation of Safeway. I've always known jobs to put their best foot forward. Not Abbey. She uses a mean, aggressive and bullying approach. It didn't bother me one bit. When people act in the manner as Abbey it's a clear sign of the opposite of what she is. Basically Abbey is a weak and sorry individual who uses her position to deflect her lack competence on others. It's sad that companies just hire to fill a position. I see why Safeway has a high turnover rate. Get rid of managers like Abbey and Stefan. Hire people who take pride in their work. Who can communicate like a regular functional adult. I was excited to work here. I really enjoyed the time here. I just can't work in a place where managers are non communicative.

I'm writing this review because after shopping here for 2 years, I think it's time I voiced my opinion. As it turned out, I'm not the only that feels this. Others have voiced their concerns as well. As for me, there are a certain 2 employees or cashiers that always made me feel unwelcome whenever I shop there and they always work at the self checkout. They either have the attitude of annoyance or the attitude of I don't care. I still can't figure it out. One of the employee seems to think that she's all that when she's not. The other employee just have that abrupt attitude of I know it all. At times, these 2 employees made me feel like I'm being racially profiled and it's only these 2 employees. It doesn't matter what I needed help with but they always give me that attitude. Whether I'm asking help with the self checkout or getting a rain check or one time I had to return an item that I recently bought. They never smile or greet the customers. I went to the store a week ago to buy this product and when I got home, I found out that the product I just bought was expired by almost 2 years. I went in to the store a few weeks ago (I try to only shop once a week) to let them know and the same employee I mentioned above gave me the attitude like I'm trying to cheat them. I told them I bought these and they were all the way in the back so I don't know if another customer secretly exchange the expired product or the product got left behind and no one notices it when restocking it. But the attitude from this employee is so negative. She told her manager and the manager also give me the same attitude. So I'm like I don't need this. I should have just bought another one and suck up the $8 bucks but to me, it's about the principal. I should have listen to my husband. He told me that they will behave this way. He told me that they would think it's me when it's not. So I just bought another package and suck it up. I rather lose the $8 instead of getting the attitude and the look that I got. Another example is when I asked their help with the self checkout, it's like they made me feel that I'm stupid for not being able to operate the self checkout because an item wouldn't scan their label or that I'm a burden. Whatever it is... there's that attitude. I understand working at a grocery store is tiring. I been there. I worked at a grocery store too when I was in my early twenties. But still.., it's not an excuse. Luckily it's not everyone that has this attitude. I like everyone else that work here especially the manager at the flower section. That flower manager always been nice, helpful and friendly. You can tell she really enjoys what she does. I was only planning to buy 2 calla lilies plants for Easter but because of her helpfulness and our pleasant conversation, I ended up buying 3 additional calla lilies, 2 cute outdoor figurines and 3 additional flower vases.

Thank you and a 5 star to the manager and store team. Customer care of the highest level. My mother in law and I were there go pick up a prescription. Mom tripped and went hard to the ground. She is a wobbly on her feet and with no fault other than her 2 feet things happen. Good size head bump, banged and cut up. There was a team person instantly and right away the store manager. While I know they have to be overly cautious out of policy their actions weren't just policy and procedure. True compassion and concern. The story is longer with more of all they did. Thank you for being my neighbor. I have a great deal of respect and thanks for the people. Mom is fine .

Sean was the nicest cashier, on a crazy busy day! Actually the seafood counter and kid that helped bag groceries were both really nice too. It's the day before Thanksgiving, the store is nuts and the lines are long mostly because of the 6 foot rule. They didn't have figs but it's not a normal ingredient and I doubt that they're in season because I can't find them anywhere.
