The manager, Dave Buck, is letting the whole store down and makes the whole shopping experience appalling.

This Safeway used to be my go-to for all my groceries. Lately, the aisles have very weird people that the workers do not care about. Tonight (Tuesday January 9) there are the following people looking for prey: 1. A few teenagers in pajama pants looking into parked cars. 2. An older woman trying to strike up conversations with customers but not in a good or friendly way.

1 star for their meat counter personnel ALL OUT TO LUNCH AT THE SAME TIME on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024. I intended to purchase some meat they had under glass that they did not have out in their open space. I saw an "Out to Lunch" sign taped to the glass, so I shopped around for a while and went back to the meat counter, and still no one around. I was just one of many customers who were also looking for someone. One man was looking for a bell to ring and gave a loud "Hello", to no avail. That is some big-time terrible management within the meat department.

Today I went to Safeway store in 4309 Clayton Rd, Concord, CA due to The meat I bought contained suspicious drug element.I bought 4 packs of beef, shrimp, chicken and Swaii fish 2 weeks ago. I ate the shrimp for totally 3 times in separate days. Each time I got palpitation, high-blood pressure, anxiety, dehydration & huge urination, trouble on sleep, extremely dried mouth and the tongue & teeth feeling like having eaten young persimmon. Whenever I stoped ate Safeway meat, the symtoms also stoped.I initially thought there might be other reasons and foods causing that. However, after 3 times experiment and I finally filtered out other possible reasons, I did some internet research on my symptoms and what might cause that and I have found some drug and chemical related to that. I am definitely sure the Bistal shrimp contains certain chemical or drug which caused those troubles. I can provide those searches if Safeway want to know. The beef is also has the similar problem, but a little mild. However, because I only ate one time and did not take other experiments, so I will not be as sure as the shrimp.I did not try another 2 packs ( Chicken and fish) and I returned them due to I did not want to take my life in risk.I bought meat twice in Safeway of Willow Pass Rd, Concord at past, same package of meats, no any problem at all and I have not had any poison symptoms for 3 months since I did not buy in Costco any more. When I returned the food to store today, the manager seemed like already known what my purpose to visit there even before I opened my mouth. But he did not give me chance to talk about the problem and even did not ask at all. He seemed like already knew everything before I arrived which is weir!!!Many people involved, I could see, including those who always parked their car around my car in the parking lot. They know where I was going even before i arrived!!!

Worse grocery store in concord, never stock their shelves and always have only one register open! Management needs to go back to raising wild pegs.

Is anyone concerned or unhappy about the recent switch of the Floral Manager changing abruptly from Alicia? I’m flabbergasted that someone that is well known with customers, but also greatly connected into the local community would be replaced. She is so talented with Floral, you name it, Alicia does it and is beyond accommodating to any request. From your basic bouquet, to balloon designs, proms, banquets, weddings, funerals, her work and artistic craft was a “God-send” to this store. I have had the privilege of Alicia creating spectacular floral arrangements for several dinner and Holiday parties, milestone birthdays, funerals. Now I’m forced to look elsewhere for any type of custom arrangements needed. I’ve observed the florals coming in a traditional and basic, nothing creative. I don’t have any confidence that the new Manager of Floral can accommodate any of these needs. I strongly feel this has been such a detrimental move for this store and believe that their sales will go down considerably. Alicia is also connected into the local community and schools and goes out of her way to maintain these relationships. This is the kind of relationship that has been proven to bring in constant revenue. Honestly, I don’t know what Dave Buck (Store Director) was thinking I question Mr. Buck’s decision and the obvious lack of observing and delivering pristine service to his customers. There is an old saying that says, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” In this case, things are now broken. Very sad. Anyone know of a great local florist?

9-13-23 shopping 1st day of weekly ad, shelves not filled, many items not stocked, the store is messy and dirty looking. The card section was in disarray, was looking for a 2yr old, nothing, tried for a boy birthday, nothing. Then to top this trip off I had to use the bathroom. An employee with a broom came out, my 1st thought was oh good it should be clean. Wrong again, it was filthy. I’ve shop Safeway since you opened that store, and before you came in. If I recall, it was a Lucky’s, and a Ralph’s. Please help your customers and get this store cleaned up. Not much can be done for the prices, but we should be able to shop in pleasant and clean facilities.Diane Deemer, Concord, California

Why does your Hours of Operation say you close at 1am, yet I come in at 12:50, employees hiding, or pretending not to hear the slamming on the door by angry customers, with locked doors? It's like you're desperate to go home or something.Poor Laborers, they have a union and STILL hate their jobs.If you don't like to work, go home! This is typical Safeway culture.Great service Denkinger.

Just went to this Safeway location and pulled up to a security guard who watched me go in. She chased me down after I walked in and made me leave my reusable bag up front while I shopped. ( I only brought in one and it was folded. ) How petty, unprofessional, and lacking any common sense. Especially when she watched me pull up in a 110K car. I promise Safeway / Kroger lost a lot more money from my future business than from any $3 items they passively accused me of trying to steal. Will take my business elsewhere.

Experience was very good there was a deal on chicken today and the meat Clerk suggested that I go towards it because there's a good price on it today which I appreciate and the lady that works in the deli to help me with the cheese I don't know her name but she is amazing and she is all for me and I love going to her and then when I checked out of line the cashier her name was Vanessa amazing she was nice very courteous and the person that bagged my stuff was excellent also I've been coming here for over 30 years I love the Safeway it's quiet it's nice and clean and I usually don't stay in there lines longer than I'm actually in the store
