Update 202308023 (5 days later): This morning I got an email from my credit card that the difference had been refunded. My in-store experience was unacceptable, but after filing complaints with Department of Weights and Measures, contacting the United Rentals parent company, and posting online the advertised price was honored and refunded. I wish when I shared the discrepancy in advertised pricing at the time of payment and I wasn't told I was wrong, that it wasn't their pricing (on the tank they were using to refill propane), and there was zero concern that they had misleading signage affixed (and not new) to their tank. A simple walk out to the tank, show of empathy, and working through it I would not feel like I was wronged to the point of escalating the issue through so many channels to get action taken for resolution. I even took the picture and shared it inside, so they didn't even have to walk out with zero concern that they were going to charge me nearly double. Can you say "Bait and Switch!"First off, let's get the definition of bait and switch locked in...based on the Oxford dictionary, bait and switch means:"the action (generally illegal) of advertising goods which are an apparent bargain, with the intention of substituting inferior or MORE EXPENSIVE goods."When I arrived and checked the price at United rentals for propane refills, I was pleased to find a per gallon price of $3.60 posted on the propane refill tank outside. For good measure I contacted PDQ Rentals (who I have previously used before and will be where I go next time...now) who quoted a price slightly higher ($4 and change). Instantly, I knew I was at the less expensive option and decided to fill up at United Rentals and save some dough, or so I thought.I had 5 tanks and ultimately needed 13 gallons in propane to top them all off. When I went inside to pay...another price was posted behind the counter...much higher at that for $5.99 per gallon. Guess which one they charged me? Well, you are right if you guessed the higher price. When showed their discrepancy in pricing I was told "that's not our sticker" and "well, department of weighs and measures has been here a bunch of times and never said anything".What an unacceptable answer and lack of care or concern when shared that it was bait and switch (remember the definition above...yep, bait and switch).Well, my recommendation is not to take your business here. They certainly will not get business from me ever again and I'll be sure to share their lack of concern with everyone who will listen. That's not how you do business, that's not how you resolve problems, that's not how honest people/businesses act, that's just unacceptable.

Bait and switch Pulled up to get propane and the propane signage states $3.60/gallon. I called one other place after seeing the signage and chose to stay there as the price was around $.40 less. Went in to pay and a sign behind the counter was $5.99. Unacceptable and it "wasn't their sign" on the propane. BAIT AND SWITCH!

The manager first time asked me to bring half ton truck to tow the 19 ft scissors lift , but change the mind and said it has to be the 3/4 ton truck when I brought the F150. The website shows lift with trailer only 5000 more less combined. It seemed like United Rental required all the costumer to buy at least SuperDuty truck to have the eligibility to do the business with them. What a genius ! Perhaps they need to change their name to Rocket Rental instead. Obviously the rocket has to be towed by a bigger truck ?

Returned the machine same day They did not close out the return I called the next day to let them know I was still being billed daily Three days later on Friday I called to let them know they where still billing me. I was speaking to a phone bank in another country. Three days later, Monday, there billing had exhausted the funds in that account. I was transferred to a manager who "had been doing this for 25 years" and stated Chase Bank had made a error and the charge should not be a POS Debit just a authorization. I hope His arrogant and indifferent attitude are because it's Monday and he hates Monday. But whatever the reason, I'll take my equipment business elsewhere.

I rented a trailer to haul away some debris. The equipment worked fine. Unfortunately with the fires they shut down the 91 freeway and my driver couldn't return it on time that afternoon. He came in the next day before noon, but I got charged for 2 days. It's not their fault about the fires, but it would have been nice if they understood. The guy was matter of fact, credit card please. I need some more equipment so I will probably rent somewhere else for awhile.
