We rented 2 rooms between the 5 of us; both were 1st floor rooms that included 2 queen-sized beds, a kitchenette, and a patio with access to the beach, pool, and outdoor walkways. The complimentary breakfast was good; no eggs or sausage, but croissants, bagels, etc, and seating arrangements that left it open for conversation with other guests. The pool was heated, and the workout room had light cardio machines. The beach was right there, as were the kids' playground and cabanas for cookouts on a first-come, first-serve basis. The moods of other guests felt pleasant, and the staff were top-notch. It can be difficult to get a room here, I believe we just got lucky, as it's one of the best military hotels in San Diego. It's worth the struggle.

Older building, but very clean and friendly. Lodge is right on the beach with a courtyard that consists of a little playground, tables/chairs and a pool. Breakfast included with stay. There is a little snack/trinkets shop in the lobby. Reasonable pricing compared to commissary. Beach towels in the bathroom. Lodge also has a coin laundry mat if needed, a cardio only gym and a rooftop terrace that is food/beverage friendly. If you're looking for a simple, clean, affordable, safe, family friendly location.. THIS IS IT! We are definitely returning.

Loved our stay here! Our family room was clean and we were able to get an early checkin. Literally can't beat the price and location in San Diego! The pool was perfectly clean, playground was well kept. Navy takes a lot of pride in keeping this facility running in optimal condition

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE COTTAGES.For the price - currently $180/night - it will never be beaten. You get two dedicated parking spots, two bedrooms, one bathroom, full kitchen, stacked washer/dryer, and an outdoor shower on a back patio that is literally on the sand! It sleeps six: a queen, two twins and a fold-out double. They include six beach towels and six foldable chairs, and you get complimentary continental breakfast next door at the Navy Lodge, and use of the pool there! If I had to say anything negative, it's that furnishings are dated (but it was very clean). Also, they include dish soap, etc, but nothing for the washer/dryer. And, you'll want to bring your own bar soap and shampoo.

A gem! It's super clean and well maintained. The staff here work hard to take care of this immaculate place. If this was a private property and open to the public it would be three to four times the price for a night stay. The pool area is clean and well maintained. The beach area as well as the open areas are clean and safe. The cottages are like something you'd see in Hawaii. I actually felt like I was at at 5 Star resort just missing the live music and high end restaurants and bars. This is an ideal place for young couples or even families with little ones. With so many options on things to do, you're close to Hotel Del, Cabrillo National Monument and all the casual dining that Coronado has to offer. I'll be back again for sure.

Beautiful view, location, and PRICE!Had family stay in the family suites and recently visited my husband for a short stay in a 2 bed room with a small patio and easily accessible walk to the beach. From his room, he could get to the pool and or the beach in less than 5 mins. It was beautiful. The location for the price was well worth it too because less then 10 mins away, there a porky section that has food, shopping, and other local places to visit. Also got a sneak peek into one of their cabana places and I don't remember the price but whatever it was it was WORTH IT because it comes with a full kitchen , 2 twin beds (sep room), 1 queen bed (sep room), a pull out couch, laundry closet, and it's right on the beach!!!Can be booked 1 year (active duty) or 6 months ( veterans) in advance too.Didn't get pics but visit and see for yourself!

The best lodge we've been! Booking was not too difficult but also service member with order have priority over leisure. Room was better than most 2-3 star hotels. Very clean and comes with toiletry stuff and bottle water. Rooftop was amazing, again super clean, well-maintained and gorgeous view.

When I called to make a reservation my call got transferred from them to the days in down the road so I ended up booking with days in finally I got it somewhat fixed I got my reservation that I wanted back at north island navy lodge. When me and my wife got there they didn't want to help I went up and they said your room isn't ready so we waited in the lounge and watched everyone else get checked in it was up until a lady at the front desk looked at my reservation and then wanted to be nice to me. We were getting checked in and I do believe that my room got switched from the nicer room I booked for to a different one without informing me so. Finally we are checked in and she just talks about all the times things open and close in the hotel like I'm gonna remember all of that so I asked if there's a paper for them she hands me a sticky pad and pen and starts saying it again. Me and my wife get to our room and unpack everything getting ready to make dinner and we noticed all the pans were dirty so we ended up having to clean all the pans plates and silverware. We went to the balcony and the light didn't work. Next day we realize that there is human fesses in our bathroom on the wall by the light switch I went to talk to the front desk about it and they were rude and said go find a cleaning person so I ended Up just waiting for our room to get serviced and cleaned and it never did we had no more clean towels no shampoos or toilet paper so luckily since talking to the front desk didn't work there was a maintenance guy that came to our room on accident and he ended up being on the wrong floor but he cleaned the fesses off our bathroom wall I can't believe that after telling the front desk about it and having to be in the same room as that for a majority of our stay it took someone coming to our room by mistake to take care of it. We then after noticed that there is semen on our couch I thought the bathroom was bad but it was that whole room. I'm just glad for the hotels safety I didn't bring my kids. I could go on and on but I will definitely recommend nobody to stay here!!!!!!!!!!!

The manager at this property should be terminated. This lodge is the crown jewel of all Navy Lodges, but it's management is terrible and mistreats customers. I'm a disabled veteran, and had a confirmed reservation to stay at this property from 21-25 October. I was called less than 48 hours prior to arrival and told my reservation was cancelled due to "operational commitments". Needless to say I was flustered due to the late notice. I was unable to cancel my plane tickets, and with the short notice, I had to pay triple the normal rate for a place to stay. The biggest joke of all, is I assumed that "operational commitments" meant a Seal Team ready to deploy, or a Air Crew unit in town with a broken plane. Sadly I found out the manager here cancelled dozens of reservations to make last minute room for the Girls Air Force Academy soccer team!! Can you believe the insult I found this? Whoever made this decision should never be allowed to engage in serving our armed service members again. Horrible judgement.

AWARENESS: When I know my family and I will be heading South to visit the San Diego area for a few days, the first hotel on my list to call is always here; the Navy Lodge @ North Island. NARRATIVE: The first and foremost mission of the Navy Lodge, here or at any other Navy base is to facilitate active duty military personnel who are transitioning from one duty station to the next. Probably not well know to civilians but when military, both enlisted and officers and their families get new orders to transfer from one duty area to the the next, government housing or quarters are not always available when they arrive. Hence the reason for the Lodge. The Navy Lodge acts as the middle man. Able to host transitioning families, on a priority base and for an extended period of time until hosing becomes available. Once in awhile, people like myself get lucky. When the Navy Lodge is not at capacity and a "leisure" request is made, more than not, the request is granted and veterans such as myself are able to take advantage. Not just this lodge but most have the same amenities. Queen or two Queen beds. A sofa bed. Full kitchen with a stove, oven, microwave and a full size refrigerator and normally a small sitting table with a few chairs. Other amenities include; a breakfast each morning. 24 hour coffee and water and depending on the lodge, a swimming pool and gift store that sells wine, beer and other types of snacks. I only know of two Navy Lodges which have swimming pools. This one here at North Island and the Navy Lodge on Ford Island in Hawaii. This lodge has one other unique item. It has its own beach named "Breakers Beach." How awesome is that? SCENE: Navy Lodge North Island is located on the Navy Base of Coronado Island. Access to both the base and lodge restricted to active, retired, disabled military and DOD civilians. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Navy Lodge on North Island is a gem in the sand (literally). Hosting access to a private beach with views South to Mexico and North to Point Loma, it's a guaranteed pleasure stay. If you have the availability and the access to stay at this lodge, jump on it.

We loved staying here for a PCS, it's right on the beach. The beach isn't crowded and pretty safe for kids.

Thank you for a wonderful stay Navy Lodge! My husband and I had a wonderful time under the stars! Easy access to the beach. Ideal for couples and families. Great place, clean and good communication. Just like the pictures, marvelous sunsets with the sounds of crashing waves. Great views! Perfect for a little getaway or a work vacation.

Wow! Little did I know I was going to have the beach as my backyard staying here. Stayed here for the week for a team event. The whole staff was very friendly and welcoming. They have a pool to hang out at and a playground next door for the kids. If that doesnt fit your needs, you take a walk on the beach where you dont have to worry about all the locals hogging up all the sand. Lots of tables to have barbecues at as well. There is also a rooftop that offers a great view of the coast. At night you can even see the lights of Tijuana. Got to catch a couple sunsets that were stunning (see photo). My favorite of course was the complimentary breakfast. The staff made things safer and easier by making waffles and coffee for the guests. Everything else was grab and go. They also have a small convenience store that offers most of your essential/last minute needs. Shout out to Linh who was very helpful and accommodating. Its the minor things that make a difference.

Beautiful location and a helpful staff, rooms were clean. The breakfast could've been better as it's just the "meal kits", but with COVID that's pretty understandable. There's plenty of restaurants downtown to make up for that. Overall, a lovely stay during a stressful PCS.
