This place is own by a crook! He ripping off people. Not only he does not return deposit, but he tries to keep things left in a car and then charging you for return. He owe me over $500. He also employed a gentleman and didn't pay him, he was working for a free like a slave! What a violation of labor law! Why authorities are not involved in that, are mind blowing! Owner is from India, and does business " Indian" style I guess - barbarian style! Don't rent from him - he has long record of cheating people!

Honestly I think this is a great rental car company. Sam is a great guy, he will always answer the phone. Any time I need a car to rent its American Eagle Car Rentals. I rented a 15 passenger van to go to Big Bear while I was on the 91 freeway one of the tires popped. It was a big inconvenience for us it delayed 2 1/2 hours of our trip. Although the way Sam handled the situation was awesome, he really did take care of us, for the inconvenience. I will definitely be renting again.

Best small car rental place around had a great time dealing with Sam and I plan to do more business with him soon I had a van rented at a different rental car place and the day I was picking it up they didn't have the van that put me in a jam I called around But Sam was the one who had one available and didn't try to over charge me for it the van wasn't the cleanest but was that dirty with that said it was great I would refer anyone and plan to do my company rentals with them too most of the bad reviews on here seem to be people trying to take advantage of a smaller company and that's sad

This is the worst place EVER! Don't rent a car from here unless you want to get ripped off. His cars are old and he will charge prices like it's a new car. Plus, no unlimited miles for the expensive prices he charge. He will act like he cares but he doesn't. If it's an hour late on the return he charges a late fee. Unless you want a rental car that will break down on the side of the road at anytime, then rent from here. Otherwise, I'd find someone else to rent from.

WOW! Such amazing customer service from Sam! Follow-up calls and emails to confirm our requested specifications. Amazingly helpful and accommodating. Why rent from anywhere else? - We needed a 15 passenger van for the whole summer and could not have had a better experience. We even "lost" the keys for a few days and Sam sent us replacements FedEx immediately. Already reserved for next summer!!

Very pleased with the service we received here. We rented this car for our family trip to Las Vegas. It was the perfect car for our family. Sam was very accommodating and assured us we would get a van with parktronic and navigation. He was also very kind in letting us return the van the day after because we had 5 kids in the car driving home. Thank you American Eagle car rental! We will definitely use your services again.

I wish you could give negative stars. This place is horrid, the worst car rental experience of my life. We were lied to, overcharged and worst of all - this business is based inside the Travel Lodge in Costa Mesa who claims their not responsible when Sam used our credit card to purchase personal items on Amazon. The car we rented broke down and because it was towed off the highway by the CHP he kept our deposit. Bad business avoid American Car Rental of Costa Mesa.

Sam Bhai of American Eagle Car Rental should be renamed theMurphy's Law of rental cars! Anything that can go wrong will go wrong and if you think its a reputable company because its located inside the Costa Mesa Travel Lodge think again. I rented a 2006 Toyota from Sam and American Eagle Rental Car Company in Costa Mesa to use as a support vehicle for a 3-week test trip. Drove it for 3 days, and then it developed a heinous misfire and so I swapped it out for another 2000 Van the day before we were leaving the confines of the South Orange County. Car #2 made it 5 days without a hitch. Then, while we were driving from San Diego on I-8, with 4 people & luggage aboard, it started losing power. Full throttle was good for about 25 mph on uphill, 35 on downhill. It is acting like the catalytic converter is completely clogged up. Coasted in to the thriving metropolis of Pine Valley, California, population: not many. No cell coverage. Find a place with a pay phone, call Sam at American Eagle Rental Car toll-free number. Get a mess of quarters, call them, ask them to call pay phone back. They do. After some discussion (full credit here to the front desk person at Travel Lodge, who was polite as could be), because Sam left early (me: "Make sure whatever you bring has room for 4 adults + luggage, as I'm not leaving anyone or anything behind." Them: "[long pause] Oh. I'll have to get a minivan, then." "Thank you."). Hour and a half later, they arrive, pick us up, note location of car at the Frosty Burger, and drive us the hour back to Costa Mesa. Much paperwork later, we have Car #3 and we're on our way. Easy, right? Well, no, not really. Because when the Sam from American Eagle Car Rental tow truck went back to Pine Valley to get the car, it wasn't at the Frosty Burger. Which resulted in it being reported stolen. While it was theoretically still in my custody. Frantic phone messages waiting for me once I got into cell phone coverage again 2 days later (Las Vegas). They're looking to hang the cost of the car on me, plus Car #3 isn't shown on my account and *it* is on the verge of being reported stolen as well. Got *THAT* sorted out in a hurry. I suggested they talk to the owner/manager of the Frosty Burger in Pine Valley. Calls were made, and, indeed the "abandoned car" was towed to a local gas station/impound yard. Across the street from the Frosty Burger. Visible from where it was parked. Owned by the brother of the Frosty Burger's owner. Pine Valley isn't really that big of a town. I was told the good news was that I'd called back before they'd issued a warrant for my arrest. Yeah, no kidding.

Worse of the worst experience. That mad Indian man, who runs this scam was going after us, when we were late to return a car for 2 hours. It was traffic by the way. And the car rental was already prepaid! he then add some additional fake charges.

This place is total scam and rip off. Give you one quote, and then will overcharge you! Should be really investigated!
