Out of blue they increased my car insurance rates for nissan versa from $1300 to $1800 for 6 month. Because it is California, and because of "global warming". Got insurance from gaico for $900 with better coverage,

I added my husband to my policy. He got in a single accident. Amica sent me a letter 3 weeks before my renewal date that they will not be renewing my insurance due to my husband's one accident. They said I could keep my coverage and exclude him, but my existing policy would cancel and I'd have to start a new one which was higher and they wanted half down. I asked if they could just exclude my husband after he gets his own policy this way I could keep my policy without all the extra fees. He told me in California that's not allowed. Never heard of this. Also said that half down is a California thing. Again, never heard of that.Horrible company.

California homeowner's insurance - a two-headed dragon of California Fair Plan (CFP) forms and separate fire/personal property policies. I was ready to give up and concede into spending double, until Amica appeared like a knight in shining armor. One simple policy, friendly experts like Stephanie B, and thousands saved? No more fire-breathing paperwork here. Amica, you're the magic spell I needed.

Great insurance company if you never have a claim. Pay them money every month so you're covered in case of an accident but as soon as you're involved in an accident they have no interest in you. I was in a hit and run that totaled my car and it's been an absolute nightmare!!! It's one thing to deal with low level employees that don't care but when you go from supervisor to supervisor and they obviously don't care enough to take care of you in a time of need it's disheartening and irritating. I've been waiting three days for the supervisor of a supervisor to respond to an email I sent. Not acceptable in my opinion. Wish I had checked Yelp before signing up with them. Take heed to the negative reviews and DO NOT get insured with this company.

Call and no answer. Ridiculous answering machine that provides no help. They used to be so good. I want home and auto insurance but they seem not to care

NOTE - If they respond to this review with "hey, please reach out to us".... I have, multiple times. Fact is noone will call back. I would avoid Amica. I thought they were very friendly.... until I really needed them. My truck was totalled by an under insured driver. Working through the claims the first adviser (Jeff) wouldn't return my calls, I had to continually reach out to him. This resulted in a 5 day delay on getting a rental car. Once we learned the truck was totalled I was switched over to another claims advisor, Patricia. 8/7 - all the paperwork was finalized and Patricia told me she would be issueing my payment "tomorrow". 8/8. When tomorrow came I had no indication that the payment had been issued. 8/9 - I emailed back in, Patricia said only "I will resend that email to this afternoon". I asked her how we got from issueing tomorrow to resending the email two days later. Her response was "It's been very busy". In that same email I asked her to tell me exactly what I need to do to get this all wrapped up. 8/11 - I followed up again because I received the email and did everything I was instructed to do. Patricia said that I had approved but my wife hadn't. This was a shock to me as she had never once mentioned my wife. Come to find out she didn't even have the correct email address for my wife. This email came in Friday night, I was looking at waiting the entire weekend. The positive in this story - I called in Saturday, 8/12 and spoke with someone who said they could not help me and that a supervisor would tell me the same thing. But I persisted in asking for the supervisor and finally got to Shannon. Shannon read through everything and acknowledged Patricia had missed several things and wasn't being proactive in the slightest. Shannon was able to get me resubmitted. I was told that Christen, Patricia's supervisor would call me back the following Monday. That never happened. 8/14 - Patricia emailed me back again to apologize again and.... yup, told me again how busy she was and how she was trying to get to everyone. After having to follow up with Jeff multiple times and then Patricia multiple times, then spend several hours on a Saturday I finally got everything taken care of. They are clearly too busy to take care of their customers. I left them a couple weeks later, found someone who has time for me.

Yet another joke of an insurance company. After numerous horrible experiences with another terrible auto insurance company, I did research (I did not actually look here) and it seemed like Amica could be a reasonably good provider and with a clean DMV record, the quote that I got from them was very affordable. I signed up but they told me I have to wait 30 days for the plan to go into affect. Apparently that is the new way with many companies, maybe just in California?? Anyhow, after submitting more paperwork and photos and back and forth with them for weeks, on the very last day, numerous times the agent was interrogating me with silly ongoing questions like, 'there is an indication of CMML on your registration, what does that mean?'. What do you think it means, do you not deal with these transactions daily?? Yes it means commercial... The car I have which is currently in PNO (planned non-operation) and I am only getting collision/theft coverage on happens to be a hatchback Honda with commercial plates... No other insurance company has ever asked any questions about this... Make a long story short, just as I was trying to make a payment to start the policy at the end of that last day, the agent tells me, 'Sorry sir, our underwriters can not start the policy for you because this is a commercial vehicle.'. You could not figure that out a month ago when I provided you with the registration and did the application?? They are insurance people, yet another industry that in many ways is bankrupting our society; this is likely the way they need to behave so they can feel like they have a psychological edge on the public and in control by rejecting people based on their own incompetence. Pretentious and lame mostly. On to the next...

They keep increasing my rate. I am a good driver, no accidents, older woman. They don't care about their customers. I am leaving. They keep talking about my mileage like I should not drive and stay home. Don't drive, don't go to work, don't go grocery shopping. Just stay home so my mileage stay low. LOL. Stay away from Amica.
