I purchased my honda brand new from a honda dealership in OC and have had all my service done at that dealership. I recently moved to Costa Mesa and AutoNation honda is less than a mile from my home so automatically when my car needed service I scheduled an appointment at this location for both convenience and proximity. BIG mistake. First, let's start with my customer service representative being late to my appointment. Not a huge deal and I really did not mind waiting BUT when he did arrive he almost immediately began "warning" me that I could incur a $190 diagnostic fee per issue (I had two I was there to remedy) if anything is found that is not covered by my warranty. Second, this diagnostic fee is a fifty fifty possibility as the issue is unknown until a diagnostic test is run... SHADY!! Third, the customer service representative kept emphasizing that "rats chewing through wires" or "3rd party damage" is not covered under warranty. This is understandable however it seemed very sketchy that he repeated these two possibilities for incurring the diagnostic fee again and again... I felt almost as if he was trying to set me up and preparing me for him to say my car had "rat damage" or "3rd party damage" so I would need to pay the $190 for each issue I was there to have fixed. Despite my gut telling me to grab my keys and run I continued into the dealership to find out how much an A17 (oil change, tire rotation, etc.) would be and what coverage I had. The representative looked up my coverage and informed me that the A17 service was $91! That was the final straw as I paid $59.99 for the exact same service at my previous dealership AND they do not charge a $190 diagnostic fee. All I can say is this dealership feels shady, slimy, and like they will gouge you for every penny they can. I will NEVER be back. I have already set up a service appointment at my original dealership despite being over 35 minutes from my new house. I highly recommend you stay FAR away from this dealership.

1. Overdiagnosed an oil pump leak. It wasn't even bad enough to put a drop on the driveway. The repair cost would've been $2400 for something that wasn't needed. The pump worked fine, amount of oil on it didn't even put a drop on the ground. I know I'm being redundant with that, but $2400 for something that wasn't needed!? Note, they did diagnose a bad catalytic converter from an engine light code and gave the code so we could have it repaired. 2. We were charged $190 for a diagnosis which was supposed to apply to repairs. We had the front and rear brakes done for $630 but for some reason the $190 didn't apply. We were told that the 190 was for diagnosis and the brakes were discovered with a multi point inspection. (What!?)3. on the good side, they provided a nice video of the inspection, which we really appreciated. You'll will likely appreciate it too, it was the best part of the service experience. Commendable.4. Don't bother to leave a message for the service manager, we did, and he never called back. If a small shop did that no one would go back to them.

This review is for my service rep, Christian, who was very friendly, honest, transparent and courteous with me from start to finish. I was getting my Civic serviced with the usual stuff like cabin filters, oil change, and car rotation, etc. They have a free hand car wash as well which is always nice. The service took almost two hours so I worked in their waiting room that was pretty nice. It had a gift store, lots or chairs and tables, complimentary instant coffee and tea, and vending machines with snacks. I used the free wifi to do some work. Yes, the pricing is more expensive than if you went to a private mechanic but I really enjoy the report that comes with the multi-point inspection. The service rep tells you everything from the get-go though so there are no surprises. It was also easy to setup an online appointment too. There is a shopping plaza with Target, Sprouts, and Tokyo Central to kill time too. They no longer have the shuttle because it's hard to find employees for it. Overall, a very positive experience and I'll be bringing my car here for service.

I brought my car into service for an oil change and the recall that was on it. When dropping it off stated what I needed done. so they call to let me know my vehicle is ready I get there they hand me paperwork just for the recall and no oil change and tell me they didn't know, mind your my car says when the oil change needs to be done. Next day I speak to the service advisor who lets me know he didn't see it but would do it for free since it was their mistake. Now that I have time to go he no longer works and for 2 days I've called and been told management would call me regarding issue and no call. Worse service I've ever had. I work in the car industry and was baffled at how horrible they were.

Our van's battery died down the street and after AAA came and restarted the car, I decided to take the car here since it has been our service dealership since we bought the van here back in 2018. 1) The girl working the check-in counter outside obviously didn't want to be there. She had her headphones on and could careless what is going on after walking out with her coffee from the parts dept door. 2) Service writer came out chock full of attitude and treated me like I don't know what I am taking about when I told him the battery just died down the street, AAA gave it a jump and I would like a new one installed. Considering how many flyers the dealership has been sending me about coming in, I would expected this guy to check his attitude at the door. When he told me he needs a couple of hours to do a simple battery replacement, I just called him out right there. He gave me the BS line of "we have a lot of cars and we need to run diagnostic...". Got back into my car, went home, called AAA and they came out and installed a fresh battery, all within an hour. Will not be doing any business with this dealership going forward.

I always bring my car for maintenance early in the morning without an appointment. It has never been an issue, I leave it, fill out paperwork, then later they call me and let me know the price and what it needs. Today, I was turned away they said they don't do walk ins and that I have to leave and call for an appointment. I explained that I had to go to work and that they can repair it any time during the day and that I would pick it up later, they didn't want my business and wouldn't work with me. This is the last time I bring my car here and will make sure to tell all my family and friends.I called Freeway Honda and Wow! what I difference! they do walk ins and are super friendly.
