Dr. B is amazing.I'm not even sure where to start. One of my Afghan hounds was very sick and I was being sent from specialist a specialist. He was in so much pain and I didn't know how to handle it.Dr. B was straightforward, kind, supportive and helpful. He was extremely knowledgeable and leveled with me on what I was actually dealing with which no Vet had done up to that point. I would highly recommend him to anyone and everyone for anything but especially to those with particularly difficult cases. In the end it was time to say goodbye to my sweet boy but Dr. B saved him from so many tests, so much pain, and heartache. I owe Dr. B so much and could not recommend him more highly. He's a wonderful vet and person.

This veterinary practice is just ok. It's expensive and feels like an old dated vet office that has not updated their procedures since they first opened. I called to have them approve a prescription for flea meds ordered through Chewy but the front desk said they will not work with Chewy. They are partnered with another delivery prescription supplier and refuse to approve prescription requests beyond their own supplier which is more expensive than other pet pharmacies - around $242 for a 12 month supply of Nexgard ordered through their office or $180 through Chewy or 1800pedmeds. I had run out of oral flea meds for my dog and brought him in hoping they would be able to administer a temporary flea medication until I received his usual meds through the mail; the front office didn't know what types of flea meds they had in stock and once she checked, only had the cheap topical flea meds you can get at Petsmart without a prescription...for $40! What kind of vet doesn't have plenty of flea meds on hand? When I first got my dog he was riddled with fleas and thankfully we had gone to another wonderful vet (Newport Pet Clinic in Tustin - love this place!) that had flea meds ready for him same day without prior notice. This is not the experience you will receive here. The staff often don't have answers to the simplest questions and are uninformed. I requested a prescription and the front desk said she would scan and email it to me since Dr B was busy - she should have known that no pet pharmacy will accept a scanned copy of the prescription. I did not know this either and will now be inconvenienced to return to the vet for the paper prescription. I will be looking for another vet clinic ASAP!

The experience I have had with this vet Dr. B is quite scary. I will not go into details as it is too painful. He was not my regular vet. Needed to get in to have my pet looked at as I was not able to get in to see my regular vet.If you are looking for an honest vet that you can trust this is not the place. He will not put your pets well being and life above his pocket book as he padded his bill with unnecessary test without asking. $48 for anal glands that didn't need to be done as my other vet had just done them this is just a very small example. I wish I had never entered this vets door.I wish I had Run. Please if you use or choose to use this vet please be very careful. Listen to your gut feeling. I wish I had.

I am heartbroken as I write this review and actually it has nothing to do with Dr B's veterinary business. When we took our Bernese Mountain dog puppy to him he was wonderful and she stayed at his home many times when we traveled. My negative yelp is about his breeding practices under the name of Magic Berners. We were looking for our third Bernese puppy and having lost two already at young ages we were looking for a responsible breeder. A friend told us that her vet, Dr Bruce Bauersfeld at Dover Shore Veterinary was a breeder. We visited his home a couple of times, met his dogs and put a deposit down for a female puppy. We thought we had hit the jack pot because who better to buy ( a very expensive) puppy from then a vet. We actually had to wait almost a year because girls were few and he breeds to show and so many of his females were show dog material. Finally January 7, 2013 our beautiful Gretel was born. Her first year and a half we lived in Southern California and then we moved to Oregon. Her life was perfect, every day swimming in rivers, hiking, and playing in the snow. Around her 4th birthday it came to our attention that her knees were a mess and her elbows soon followed in X-rays so we had to slow down her outings but she still lived life to its fullest. At 51/2 I had a gut feeling that all was not well with her ( my third Bernese and she and I were together always) We took her to her Doctor and a mass was found on her spleen. The X-ray also showed her spin was not normal. ( we had a ramp for our cars, we never let her jump down). Sadly she declined quickly and we had to say good bye to Sweet Gretel December 10, 2018, 28 days before her 6th birthday. We know that their lifespans are not long due to their size and their susceptibility to cancers but we reached out to Dr B and his wife twice to find out about Gretel's siblings and inform them that her X-rays showed lots of deformities and got no response. It just seems a responsible breeder would be interested in keeping the lines as healthy as possible and not breed dogs that may not be healthy. We were not looking to blame we just love the breed and want healthy dogs. Our hearts are broken but I know some day we will try again to find a breeder who truly cares about the dogs life and not so much about the financial gain.

Excellent care, staff and the Vet that my dog trusts and likes! I have been bringing my dogs here for many years and Dr B loves animals and truly cares about the health and well being of your pet... Dover Shores Pet Care Center receives 5 stars from my German Shepherd and he really enjoys going there for his baths and exams...

Dr B. and staff are excellent. They are kind , knowledgeable, compassionate and will take exceptional care of your fur babies . I brought my fur baby , Bandit , who was having trouble chewing and drooling . He had 2 abscessed teeth that needed to be extracted yesterday . Surgery went well and he is home and doing great . I highly recommend Dr B and staff for all your pet needs .
