It's a nice compact shop with beautiful jewelry. However it didn't feel very welcoming. The salesperson seemed annoyed that we were window shopping.

We just had the most amazing shopping experience, ever; thanks to Cheryl. We were at Tiffany's looking at pearls and decided to make a quick stop to Mikimoto before making our final selection. Cheryl was busy helping another customer but still made time to quickly greet us as we entered the store. Cheryl was very thorough and knowledgeable with answering our questions about the Comme de Garçons pearl necklaces. Her fine balance between being helpful but not at all pushy made us feel very comfortable and confident in making our purchase with Mikimoto over Tiffany's. I have a Tiffany's jewelry, but when it comes to pearls, Mikimoto is definitely far superior! As we were wrapping up our transaction, a couple came into the store to thank her for helping to pick out their engagement ring, it was so adorable and sweet. Seems she's helped many other couples make memorable moments with Mikimoto too. Much gratitude for the wonderful shopping experience, Cheryl! Simply amazing.

Mikimoto came on my radar years ago when I was channel surfing and came across an episode of America's Next Top Model when one of the contestants won necklaces from Mikimoto while in Japan. Since then, I've done some research on cultured pearls and learned that the founder of this brand is responsible for the contemporary process of bringing cultured pearls to the general market. When they did the collaboration with Comme des Garçons, I wanted to stop in and see what they had. It's located on the first floor of South Coast Plaza, near Loewe and Bvlgari. Whenever I've passed or gone in, it's never very busy or full of shoppers. Usually they have one or two clerks working there and they typically do greet you and offer to help if you need it. I worked with one guy who explained the collaboration was 2 releases and that there were a few pieces in the store. He did admit that once some came in, CDG fans would come in and snap them up, as they were interested in the brand. He had a necklace with pearls and silver chain that I tried on and was a little longer than a choker. Beautiful and contemporary piece, but it was out of my budget at this time. I did take his card for later though. (I will note that Mikimoto today is known as a luxury jewelry brand on par with Cartier and Bvlgari, which means they're very expensive for pearls - they're a beautiful option if you're looking for a very special piece.) Service was friendly and not overly pushy when I went. With regard to parking, you can choose from multiple flat lots and structures.

The jewelry is very low quality. If you buy anything it will break multiple times. Then to add insult to injury they charge you to fix their crappie made jewelry. We will never buy new jewelry from them it's overpriced and low quality. Also be prepared to wait 30 minutes plus to check your jewelry in to get repaired their computer system is as low quality as the jewelry.

Horrible experience. Called in advance to let them I was going to pick something up but when I got to the store, the man working did not even acknowledge me and I ended up waiting 30 minutes. I obviously did not end up waiting long enough to purchase the product because it's not worth it. If I'm going to spend money they better have some decent customer service. Take your business elsewhere. Note to the guy working on Sunday, May 23rd at 5:20pm, you obviously need to go back to your customer service manual and review how to deal with clients or else Mikimoto of South Coast plaza will lose business. Also, two other Asian women came in and there was also no acknowledgement. Disappointed. I've worked in this business and this is just so unacceptable that it is cringeworthy.

The worst customer service ever!!!!!I’m not type of a person who writes bad reviews unless it’s like the worst case ever in my whole life.At first I loved the brand Mikimoto because I love their pearls so much so that’s why I chose Mikimoto for my wedding band. I purchased two rings at Mikimoto in South Coast Plaza in last year for myself and my fiancé. I really love my ring so much it’s the only reason I chose Mikimoto because I liked the design of the ring. However this ring is kind of special ring that can’t be resized to my ring size so the lady told me take it to Jared and get it resized. That ’s what I did recently since my wedding got delayed due to pandemic. Jared did resize this gorgeous ring to my size however they completely ruined this ring with bunch of black mark / glue?! This ring was completely never worn brand new ring since our wedding got canceled now it’s like in so bad condition so I got so mad and I felt betrayed because since this Jared is right front of South Coast Plaza I thought they’re going to do a decent job, but no it was so bad craftsmanship. I was in rage and I just decided not to deal with them anymore because I lost all the trust and my ring doesn’t deserve them anymore so I just called Mikimoto right away because I trust Mikimoto so much and I didn’t mind paying for polishing and cleaning I just wanted to bring it to somewhere that I can trust 100% and feel comfortable with giving my ring to them and wait until it gets polished & cleaned. OMG but guess what? The lady who picked up the phone provided even worst customer experience than Jared…. At least people from Jared they were very nice but the craftsmanship was just bad and that’s my only complain but Mikimoto customer service was like the worst customer service I ever experienced with this lady who picked up the phone. I don’t know her name but she’s type of person who doesn’t know how to listen to her customers. First I tried to explain the reason why I’m calling and what I need from Mikimoto but in the middle of explaining what happened she started talking over me and kept repeating herself. So I had to stop her and ask … “do you understand what I need from Mikimoto?” And she couldn’t answer my question of course because she just kept talking by herself without listening to me… so she said “……oh….so what do you need?” this is how ridiculous is this conversation was after she kept repeating herself for like more than 5 minutes which was a waste of time for me. For her it’s not wasting her time because that’s her job but for me listening to an assistant repeating herself for more than 5 minutes made me feel like falling asleep…. So I really just had to stop and say I gotta go. So I just told her the reason I’m trying to tell you my whole story is because I NEED YOU TO TELL YOUR MANAGER WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. IF I DON’T TELL YOU WHAT I NEED FROM YOU GUYS WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO TELL YOUR MANAGER? So we could finally end the call. And the result is I couldn’t get what I need which was getting polished & cleaning. And I’m very thankful that they rejected my request because I DON’T TRUST THEM ANYMORE !!! EVEN IF YOU GUYS ACCEPT MY REQUEST I’M NOT GOING TO YOUR BOUTIQUE EVER IN MY WHOLE LIFE. I really hate to say this because I love their pearl so much so I was actually going to purchase a necklace that I can wear for my wedding ceremony and also the lady who helped me initially (Kristyna) she was extremely nice. I think she fits better with this luxury brand Mikimoto but sadly she doesn’t work there anymore so I had to go through this nightmare because she doesn’t work there anymore…. ANYWAY I DON’T EVEN LIKE THIS BRAND anymore because of how awful the customer service was… I hope they can do something about it even for their brand quality…. I’m very dissapointed and surprised by how the customer service over the phone can affect the customers.

I was just browsing around hoping to find something to catch my interest. I was helped by an older woman named Theresa. After looking at some jewelry I thanked her and left. I was continuously asked would you like to look at anything else and I politely declined. I was insisted to stay every time I took a step towards the door. I was then followed at the door as she ran up to me with jewelry in her hand insisting I come back to look at it. As nice as it was by her welcome I did not appreciate being chased after I politely declined.
