Why is Stiletto Shimmy closed?! I took classes there a couple of years ago and loved it! The instructors were awesome and classes were lots of fun! I was wanting to go back now that I have more time. Please let me know if they have relocated. I miss Stiletto Shimmy!

Just bought a single session for 30 dollars which they gladly took through my credit card only to find that they are not even in business anymore! I need to get my money back!

Although I never had the desire to be a stripper (which I associated pole studios with) I always admired the crazy tricks the women could do on the pole. After a little research I decided to try out a class at Stiletto Shimmy. The studio was located above condom rev (Go figure haha) in Costa Mesa. The parking lot was a bit small but I was later informed there was more parking in the back of the building. The studio is very nice. There are about 7 poles and luckily I had one all to myself. The instructor of the class, Crystal, was actually the owner. She was amazing. She was non intimidating and made me feel very at easy. She was thorough in her instructions and spent a little one on one time with each person making sure they understood each move she taught. 1/2 the class was instruction (about 5 moves/spins) and the other half was a fun cardio routine incorporating the moves we learned. After my trial class I ended up purchasing a package of 5 classes. In the first 3 classes we learned spins and the last 2 we started to learn to climb. At this point the studio had me hooked, and I decided to sign up for the unlimited monthly package so I could try all the classes they offered. This studio offers 3 levels of pole, exotic dance, boot camps, belly dance, and tribal dance classes. I tried exotic with Jamie, which was fun. She teaches you an entire routine with a chair and props. I enjoyed stepping out of my normal comfort zone and learning something new. I also tried Saturdays boot-camp with Jennifer. She is awesome, but tough. I think I thought I was either going to throw up or pass out at least 5 times. But if you are looking to get in shape it's a great option. Overall I highly recommend this studio weather you are looking to learn pole, just find something fun and new to try, or get in shape.

Sarah Al Nour's Belly Dancing Class is a true joy as it relieves the tensions of the week. Sarah describes the dance movements in a whimsical visual fashion, which makes the class fun. After a good warm up we glide right into the dance moves that can be done by any body type. Myself, I suffer with chronic arthritis and this class is the best way to keep my muscles strong to support my weak skeletal structure. Although Stiletto Shimmy is over 20 miles away from my home, it is well worth the drive because Sarah's Belly Dance Class is fun and therapeutic.

Couldn't get a job after college? Just got laid off? Struggling to make ends meet? Let's face it...with the economy in the gutter lately, it's starting to feel like life is giving you a big ol' kick in the groin and telling you that you might want to start thinking of a back up plan for your life!!! I'm no Negative Nancy, but come on...not all of us are going to get that awesome paying job or succeed in our dream career. We're all not going to be i.e. doctors, lawyers, astronauts, or the next Hugh Hefner, Britney Spears, Kobe Bryant, Angelina Jolie, etc., and my student loans aren't going to wait around while I try to become the next Mrs. Ryan Reynolds. So my backup plan of choice? A lucrative career in the performance arts, specializing in dance...which, on occasion, might involve the use of a pole of some sort.... For my bday, I, along w/ a few other economically burdened lady friends, came here for a night to take a lesson on how to properly gyrate our bodies on someone's lap and effortlessly spin around a pole while looking cute doing so. The instructor (I forgot her name but she was the cutest and tiniest little thing) was absolutely amazing! After she had us sign our lives away, she informed us that we'd have to rock one of their dragqueen heels for the night. The selection they had would've made RuPaul envious. I went w/ the classic patent white leather 6in platform :) In 2 hrs, she taught us a few different pole spins and a complete choreographed lapdance. She ended the night by giving me a bday lapdance and it didn't cost me a single dollar bill. SCORE! Super friendly staff and exceptionally wonderful teacher. Booking the party was a breeze even w/ all the last min changes I had to make. I was quite the difficult and unorganized client, but they were as helpful and accomodating as can be. The instructor was very informative, attentive, patient, and non-intimidating. She obviously knew what she was doing, as she demonstrated in the demo she gave us of her skills on the pole. Girl got some serious skills! (It really should be illegal for someone to work a pole that good.) With each of us on our own pole, she made sure to watch each girl, correcting our form, posture, and technique as necessary. We must've been the most out of shape group she's encountered, bcs 8 out of 10 girls were plopped on the couch 20 mins before the lesson ended. However, that didn't stop her from pushing us to get up and try another spin or do another shimmy. An activity so taboo was transformed into a true art form and a serious workout! (My jelly belly thanks you!) We totally forgot that all of Harbor Blvd., could see us shakin our bonbons through the windows! She definitely made a believer out of me! Props to all the poledancing and lapdancing ladies out there! Go on and get that paper! So if this whole accounting thing doesn't work out for me, Yelp a local poledance/lapdance establishment near you, and you might find me there! Please note, my school loans are quite expensive, so help a sister out, yeah? :D

What better way to celebrate my sister's 30th birthday, than to have a private lap dance/ pole dancing class for 10 of her closest girls? Let me say, that none of us in attendance have ever professionally danced these more "exotic" styles, and we were a bit nervous about the experience. However, there was really nothing to worry about! It was so much fun. The private party is 2 hrs long. The 1st 45 minutes are for the lap dance portion, and the remaining hour and 15 minutes is for pole dancing... Jamie was our instructor, and she has the patience of a saint!! I wish with all my heart it was more affordable. I would go all the time, but at $25.00 per class, and/or $600.00 for 3 months unlimited, It's just not in the budget cards right now. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll be offering a yelp discount soon... :)

I have been taking class there for a while and I can not say enough nice things about it. The studio has several offerings, including pole, belly dance, exotic dance, burlesque dance, go-go dance, and bootcamp-style training. I have taken almost all of the classes and have enjoyed myself immensely. All of the instructors have been extremely caring and helpful and have treated me with respect. The other students are also just NICE women. The parties and events that they have are also super fun and any of my friends that I have taken to the studio for a party or a class has thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend this dance studio to any woman looking to get more confident and find a workout that is more fun than the gym.

I just started my first class today and it was AWESOME. I'm actually taking this belly dancing class to surprise my boyfriend (Gee, I hope he doesn't look this up)! The instructors are very sweet and don't make you feel bad about not being able to do something right. I'm thinking of becoming an "unlimited" student during the summer when I'll have more time for classes. Oh, and because it's a 10am class, parking was a breeze!

Just a note: This review is for the actual classes & instructors. I was a student pre-Shimmy Stiletto (when they were Fit 4 U Studio & at another location) They offer a variety of classes that cater to all fitness levels. I've taken pole, exotic, belly, & go-go dance classes....all of which are fun, invigorating, and great workouts! The instructors are wonderful at what they teach and will offer great assistance to you when trying to learn a new trick or technique. I've seen girls in their late teens to women in their 60's come & enjoy their classes....from many different roles be it college student, mother, business woman, etc.....and many shapes, sizes, & any fitness level....in all you will meet a very well-rounded group of women when you attend a class here! Due to illness & major surgery, I haven't been in to check out the new studio yet. But once I get my strength back & am able, I will definitely be returning for more!!
