Great place for kids to learn gymnastics. They have a long record of producing star athletes. Very kind people here.

Wish there's a zero star option. They did not even earn this one star I'm mandatory to give!! 1st class for my twins, instructors did not even say anything to lead the kids. Instead, they just sat down and did their own things expecting 3YOs joining for Parent and me class to follow. I have NEVER experienced any GOOD places doing this! My kids started crying after 2 mins and none of them came to guide them or invite me to go in and help. I pulled them out right away and left. I'm definitely "scolding" our city for letting this place to offer class through our city programs. AND, report them as "failed to provide service" to my credit card. I won't even bother to ask for a refund. Too much trouble to deal with those people.

The class is fine. No problems. Sometimes a little too big which leaves the kids bored. However the bigger issue is the seating. They used to have chairs, now they have benches. Benches that people spread out on while 20 people are standing. The seating situation needs to be addressed. Last week I counted 26 people standing, that is not even including the people outside who don't even attempt to come in and sit. They seriously want people, grandparents and all of that standing for 45 minutes?! Figure out the chair situation. It makes it even worse when it's 85 degrees in there....

Do NOT come here under any circumstances. I used to come here up until I was 11 during their summer camp programs. I was horrendously bullied by two coaches named Nick and Lexi (the one with blonde hair, not the brunette) who would constantly accuse me and of talking back to them after I had an anxiety attack that made it difficult for me to move or breathe. When I tried to explain to them what had really happened, and that I wasn’t talking back to them, they just talked over me and continued to single me out in front of the other kids. I was thankful that my mom had pulled me out of that program after I had told her what had happened, but it still had a severe impact on me growing up and robbed me of my self esteem and my confidence to talk to others. In addition to that, coach Eric (I think he was the head coach from what I remember) was extremely rude and catty to other little kids around my age at the time. I can never understand why these people chose a job that involves working with little kids if they are just going to be scummy to them. If you see any positive reviews about this place just know that they do not know what they’re talking about. If anyone from Charter Oak happens to stumble upon this review, please let me know if either Coach Nick or Lexi still work there because I need to confront them and tell them about the mental scars they have inflicted upon me, and how they have affected me for the last 10 years well into my adulthood, because they are the reason I have had to also seek numerous psychologists and psychiatrists for the last 10 years. I am currently 21 years old and I need some sort of closure from this suffering. Thank you.

Wonderful new facility! Our grandkids love it, and we think the coaches and staff are great!

Some of the coaches are the most toxic people I've ever met in my life. I remember that when I was 11 I used to be in a summer program and one of the coaches constantly accused me of being rude to her all because of this one day where she misinterpreted an anxiety attack I was having while she was telling everyone to line up (I was just diagnosed with severe OCD at the time and I got little occasional anxiety attacks that made it difficult for me to move or speak at times). From then on she would constantly single me out and embarrass me in front of the other kids and it really took a toll on my mental well being at the time. Thankfully I told my mom about it and she was able to take me out of there and we never set foot into that building ever again. And to coach Lexi, if you ever happen to stumble upon this review, I hope you realize the severe mental scars you have left me growing up, and that other people learn about how much of a horrible human being you really are, so that someday you'll realize that it is never okay to treat another kid the same way you treated me. Maybe you'll finally learn not to be scummy to little kids. :] And to the people that run this place: do better. I have still heard rumors of many of these coaches being extremely passive aggressive to the innocent little kids that just want to learn gymnastics and enjoy their youth.

this place is absolutely lack of professionalism and honesty, from my experience this place only cares about the money .my daughter had quite an injury and definitely needs time off from gymnastics to heal so I called to pause the class , someone on the phone said we will get refund for the unused classes that she could not attend and will pause the class but she didn't.so after a week i called again to follow up why we did not get refund that was offered or her class get pause ,I was transferred to a different person who told me different story regarding refund, its very confusing. This women was so rude about it with bad attitude, telling me the other staff was giving false informations and she was very ? angry, she said this school have no refund policy unless I sent them dr.s notes to indicate that my daughter really had injury.(as if I was lying ) so i sent dr. notes straight from ( CHOC ER ), which indicate she broke her ankle , upon following up she said it's not acceptable. not acceptable?so doctors ER note with indication of fracture is not acceptable proof. what is?so i sent second medical document indicates physical/therapy on those specific dates we were absent ) this time I think they would have no excuse right?no! she completely changed the term again from refund to credit , she said this credit will be on the account and can be use for future classes when reenroll but no refund , alright credit is fine better than nothing right?I'm just glad all that run around can finally be over with a solution. right? right? nope!instead of putting 48$ credit owed into the account like she emailed she would, she deactivated my account making it impossible to use credit owed or even log in.this is kind of the moral this company operate .I can't believe I wasted so much times with their run around for 48$ so stupid of me! ugh ?as much as I hate wasting any more of my precious times writing this review, I believe everyone is entitled to express sincere accurate experience regarding the business ethics they dealt with.moral of the story ,the run around was an indication that the refund was not intended in the first place.there are other better places that is better to take your children to learn than wasting time with this . I don't recommend this place even if it's free. ethics matter! especially when children are involved. staff attitude matters.all other reviews about rude staff and money are very accurate.deactivate the account, making it impossible to use the credit owed... is another level of petty.this place deserved double 00 star from me . you can keep those credit owed . im not coming back for it no thank you!

this place is absolutely horrible!!!! unqualified staff who are rude to children... this is not a good place for gymnastics unless you are ok with kids being treated very roughly. the billing is another horrible story. also over charged and refused to refund.

Terrible instructors, terrible management. I clicked the transfer enrollment button to change my daughters class, but apparently, transfer means ADD a class -and then they clarify in a subsequent email that comes a significant time later. Spoke to manager Kimmy about this to see if they could credit the 2-3 months she was not attending this class. Apparently a partial month's credit towards a future class was all she could provide. As far as an explanation, apparently I should be combing through my confirmation email to deduce that the 'transfer class' button means 'adding a class (since you cannot drop a class online).' Since the instructors aren't the greatest anyway (never demonstrate, hardly watch what the children are doing), we chose to go elsewhere. If you do choose charter oak, please note you cannot drop a class online.

Coach Jesse and Malia are the best. Unfortunately Coach Malia is no longer a coach which is a shame because every other coach in the little gym could care less. Not going to mention any names but we’re not happy and we’re looking for a new gym. The class sizes are too big making it impossible to correct students on proper form. They don’t pay attention to each kid. They’re not learning any new skills. I’m having to coach my daughter from the chairs. It’s disorganized and borderline unprofessional. This is a game to some but to my family, it’s serious. I’ve Had advanced coaches observe her from this organization say she’s at an intermediate level but she’s constantly being reduced to the skill of the weakest student in the class. My daughter is bored and frustrated that the coaches let other students screw around because there’s no discipline.

Love this place! I actually came here when I was a kid, now my daughter goes. Staff is knowledgeable. They really work your kids out, which I like. Always good to see progress and your money hard at work. The facility is nice and staff is friendly. I love how they have classes for boys now, almost like a parkor class. My daughter really loves it. I would definitely recommend to others

my daughter have been joining Charter Oak Gymnastics for about a year and she really loves it. I saw huge improvement on her and I like the way how the system works with the different level of classes and the coaches.

My daughter is 3 and we do the monkeys class, she's been in that class for 5 months now and we love it! Coach Jessie is the best, she has so much patience for the kids and overall is a very welcoming person. She works with each kid and helps them to improve and focus. When we first started the class my daughter had barely turned 3 and her attention span was little to not existent, and she was super impatient. Coach Jessie worked with her every month to help with her attention span and learn to be more patient. It's honestly helped tremendously because she pays attention now and even waits her turn to go. I've done the other classes for makeups and the coaches are awesome but my favorite Coach to work with is with Coach Jessie! She's the best and my daughter truly enjoys gymnastics at charter oak.
