I think Safeway is terrible. They price gauge you and have nothing really good. The people in ownership and management are really terrible people. Safeway is not a Safeway at all. I walked into the store a new resident just asking where the bathroom was and ended up being put in jail by the manager who profiled and discriminated against me because of how I was dressed. Tired and traveling. It's pretty bad when you just want to make a purchase and use the bathroom but the man is asked pushing carts ignored me. I spoke up. I asked if he was hard of hearing. Next thing the manager is treating me like I'm a monster and sure enough she got me put in jail. I faced charges for raising my voice to people who didn't want to listen. It's their job and hardly my fault. Stay away from Safeway if you value your freedom and life.

Would suggest signing up and using the coupons due to the high prices this store previously had security at the moment there is none we have an essential amount of homeless posted up panhandling smoking within feet of the door.

Best selection of quality produce and other categories in Crescent City! Helpful and friendly staff. Love the Deli.

I came in and bought 2 Large Sandwiches made in the deli. I watched the lady weigh up the meat 0.38 oz. Yet they charge $16.99 each. Whats wrong here??? If your going to charge that much, customers deserve more than paper thin sandwiches at $16.99 a pop. Rediculous. Total rip off. This is the sadest most rediculous looking sandwich ive ever paid this much for. Do not waste money on this. Not worth it. Ill be forwarding this to corporate as well.

The bathrooms are in the back of the store and locked with a code. After trying unsuccessfully to find an employee I went up to the cashier and asked if I could have the code to the bathroom. In a rude tone he informed me that telling me the code defeats the purpose of having a code, he then recommended I use the bathroom at Dennys across the street because it would be faster than finding an employee to unlock the bathroom. I would not recommend this safeway as it lacks the basics of common curtesy.

Groceries extremely expensive, the carts lock and are stupid. Save your time and money and just go down the street to grocery outlet

Went the day before to order 1 1/2 dz jalapeno cheese bagels for the following day. Paid for them and was told they would be ready at 9:00am the following day. So I go in at 9:45am the next day and they weren’t even made. So they I was asked to wait around for 2 hours and they could make them. I stated I lived 25 miles away and couldn’t wait 2 hours. So was told to come back in 45 minutes and they would be ready. Went back and they put them all In 1 small box and they were right out of the oven. By the time I got home they were all smashed down like pancakes and it was pathetic. The bagels looked burnt and I was embarrassed to take them to the function I was going to but had no choice. I will never order from Safeway again. This is the worse Safeway in California.

Watch the checkout station closely. They charged me $12.50 for a sandwich deal that was supposed to cost $9. When I asked the checker, she knew exactly what the problem was. Although the deal covers a selection of chips, the register will only give you the correct price if you scan plain lays potato chips.
Safeway knows there is a problem and they don't care. They know most people wont notice or wont bother.
The extra star is for the nice checker who helped mitigate Safeway’s deceptive business practices.
EDIT: anybody posting a negative review gets the same generic response from the owner, to use the “contact us” button on their website. No such button exists and they have no interest in contacting you.

Nice supermarket here in Crescent City. Had everything we needed with many items on sale. Did our shopping and wound up with dessert of a Ben and Jerry's for $2.97. Can't beat that. Needed help at custoner service desk for a couple questions and he was outstanding.

Store is full of employees yet only one person works the department???
I was told to come back in 20 minutes during prime shopping hrs.

Meth head walked around the store, tripping out. No one seemed to care or even thought the behavior was unusual. Real scary
