Got turned away earlier today because they were short staffed and were only taking "stat" emergencies, and internal bleeding was apparently not serious. Wound up going to Access instead, who were cheaper, faster, and better care. We were seen there in under 30 minutes, whereas I've never had a pet get seen in under 5 hours at City of Angels. We have used City of Angels for 5 other visits over the last 5 years for our 2 cats and dogs, and they have always felt predatory, but today, having a receptionist diagnose our dog - we didn't get triaged - was the last straw.Go anywhere else, these folks suck.

Extremely rude staff. 7 hour wait. Endless useless tests to show nothing was wrong with my pet who was crying and in pain and couldn’t walk all day. All they wanted to do was give pain medicine (which is extremely dangerous for dogs) and send her on the way. Keeping a dog in a kennel for 6 hours before even being seen is ridiculous, inhuman and cruel. Every-time I asked for updates which was every 2 hours I was told this was a emergency hospital you need to wait. We don’t give people appointment times. I think after 6 hours some sort of update would have been nice. On top of it we were instructed to wait outside in the 45 degrees weather or sit in our car. $1,000 later to be told nothing and they kept pushing pain meds which we refused. Don’t waste your time or put your let through this nightmare go anywhere else. If I could give 0 stars I would. Thank you for stressing my family and dog out and not being able to do your job to see what’s wrong with her.

Horrible experience and total lack of class. Took a sick parrot here. It was evident the bird was ill and we feared the worse. However we owed it to the parrot to see a vet and make sure we had exhausted all avenues. The staff checking us in was fantastic. The rest of the experience was not. After waiting to speak with the vet, she said the bird is sick and it does not look well and will die, probably that day. She then began to give her recommendation which lacked a shred of bedside manner. I asked her if what she was recommending was diagnostic or therapeutic. She quipped that she didnt have a diagnosis. I asked why are we exploring invasive potentially painful interventions if you just told me the bird will probably die. She was very upset to have been asked what I felt was a reasonable request. We had a bad feeling about the vet and could tell we were being pressured into doing something we needed time to process and may be little medical benefit. When we asked to see our parrot that we may just want to take it home and if he is going to pass then it should it be a loving environment, she got visibly angry and stormed out the room. The staff brought the bird and roughly dropped it on the counter. The staff was actually laughing about the situation. I would not recommend this place.

Dr. Andrea Smith was very compassionate and explained everything we needed to know to make critical decisions about our beloved pet. The office is well run, appointments are on time and parking is easy. I highly recommend.

I just want to say this truly is city of angels. I had to put my sweet old man down, the hardest thing any real dog lover would have to do in their lifetime. The entire process was very compassionate. Not just for me, but for my guy. They were so sweet, caring and took their time. Dr.Lee was the one who assisted my sweet old man, she explained the process to me and it was over in a blink of an eye. Not only was she sweet with him, she showed me compassion too as I was beyond devastated. Not once did they mention finances to me upon arrival, towards the end they gave me options and prices. It was the hardest thing I've done, but City or Angels really came thru.

I called their San Fernando Valley location and was given such a run around about scheduling a consultation after my vet gave me a referral to this clinic. My cat had an xray showing a mass on his jaw and my vet did not want to do a biopsy because an oncologist would be better suited to do so given the looks of the xray. When I called, the person who answered asked about the biopsy, and when I explained the situation, was met with heavy sighs. I asked him, well, what am I supposed to do in this situation if I don't have a biopsy and my vet wants your staff to do it? I was met with more heavy sighs and "well, if I HAVE to book a consultation, it will be in late January (nearly 50 days out) and by then it will probably be too late." I was apalled. Whatever happened to basic compassion and consideration? City of Angels my @ss. City of Devils is more like it!

I had a great experience at City of Angels. I brought in my cat for a urinary blockage, which can be lethal if untreated. They took him in immediately. They gave me a very detailed estimate of the costs. The doctor called me to explain what was going on and how long he might have to stay in the hospital. He ended up staying 3 days, and the doctor called me twice each day with an update. They discharged him with clear instructions, and a few sample cans of the specialized urinary diet. They even ended up refunding me for some of the medicine he didn't end up needing. All in all, a very smooth experience, and glad I found them in this emergency. I'll definitely use them in the future (although hopefully no more emergencies will arise).

THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW HOSPITALS HAVE IN-HOUSE SURGEON FOR EMERGENCIES. (I called many hospitals and it seems like this one of the most convenient) A 40 minute drive here, not that bad, BEWARE: parking can be difficult. Since they are a 24/7 facility. I assume there's always lots of people. They have their own parking lot on the second level, but many spaces are reserved and indicated not for the hospital. Check-in was outdoor, friendly staff. I checked in at the emergency on the first floor because my dog had a broken jaw. The nurse took him in for the vitals in about 10 minutes. Will be a long wait before he gets to see the surgeon, but are able to take him in so I don't have to wait here. I was informed it might be 4-6 hours. Waiting area is very spacious, it's outdoor, so if you do decide to wait here, it feels comfortable during the COVID pandemic. There are tables and chair s at the waiting area, but no chargers, not electronic friendly. Overall, it's been a great experience, the medical staff are very informative and nice, makes me feel my dog is in good hands.

How about "City of FU" when there is an emergency. They saw my dog few yrs ago and weren't shy taking my money but when we had another issue they turned us away.
